INEOS team leader Carlos Rodriguez abandons Tour de France after pelvis fracture
The Spanish climber came down in a multi-rider crash mostly involving the sprint teams. Last year's green jersey Biniam Girmay looked to have been the worst affected, but avoided any fractures.

Rodriguez, however, was diagnosed with a fractured pelvis after being taken to hospital for scans.
His INEOS Grenadiers team confirmed his abandonment on Thursday morning.
The 24-year-old had struggled this year compared to his fifth and seventh place finishes in 2023 and 2024. He was sitting 10th in the general classification.
'Carlos Rodríguez will regrettably not take the start of stage 18 today following his crash in the final moments of yesterday's stage,' a team statement read.
'Hospital scans have confirmed a fracture of the pelvis. Carlos is in good spirits and remains under the close supervision of our medical team.
'He will now return home to focus on recovery and the rehabilitation process.'
Frenchman Jordan Jegat now moves into the top 10 overall.
Stage 19 is the Queen stage of the Tour, with the riders going over the Col du Glandon and Col de la Madeleine before finishing on the Col de la Loze.
Jonas Vingegaard memorably cracked Tadej Pogacar on that climb in 2023, but the Slovenian holds a four minute and 15 second lead in GC.

Umberto Rispoli: 'Triple Crown Campaign Was Amazing'
Umberto Rispoli: 'Triple Crown Campaign Was Amazing' originally appeared on Paulick Report. Jockey Umberto Rispoli is no stranger to success. He won 15 graded stakes in 2024, has collected numerous riding championships and records back in his home country of Italy and is one of the most respected grass riders in this country. But nothing has compared to the ride he's been on the past couple of months. Rispoli is the regular jockey for Journalism, runner-up to Sovereignty in the Kentucky Derby (G1) and Belmont Stakes (G1) and winner of the Preakness (G1) and Haskell (G1) at Monmouth Park. 'Winning a classic race is the goal of every jockey every year,' Rispoli said, 'and trying to find a horse like Journalism is the key. Every year you wish to get a horse like him.' He calls the victory in the Preakness the biggest achievement of his career, which has taken him all around the world. From Italy he moved to France. He's also ridden in England, Australia, Japan and Hong Kong before coming to the United States in 2020. Through it all, he's ridden some quality racehorses, but now there's a new name at the top of the Rispoli Top Ten list. 'I have to put him on the top,' he says of Journalism. 'It was a big achievement for me to be a favorite in the Kentucky Derby and then the favorite in the Belmont against Sovereignty. The whole journey of the Triple Crown campaign was amazing. Plus you put the Haskell in there. So far it's been a wonderful season.' What makes the Rispoli/Journalism union different from his other successful partnerships is that most of that success has come on the turf. 'It's the first time I have found a real good dirt horse,' Rispoli claims. 'I worked him at Del Mar last summer and then after his first start we saw something different in him. We knew he was a two-turn horse, no doubt about it.' Rispoli has three winners so far at Del Mar, a noticeable drop-off from past year's production but with good reason. He missed the first Saturday of the meet when he traveled back east to ride Journalism at Monmouth Park and he's gone again this weekend. 'So far it's been a slow Del Mar for me, which I would say is unusual,' Rispoli said. 'When you're not here, it costs you some rides. But if that affords you the chance to ride horses like Journalism or Johannes, you do it.' Rispoli was in New York Saturday to ride Johannes in the Fourstardave (G1) at Saratoga. With all the traveling he's been doing lately, he's definitely piling-up the frequent flyer miles. 'I like that,' Rispoli insists. 'When I was in Europe I used to travel in a car for five hours just to ride one horse and then come back. When you have a day to fly around and ride good horses it gives you motivation.' Even with all this recent success, Umberto says he's not one to rest on his laurels. 'Once you win a big race you just forget about it and move on,' Rispoli said. 'Enjoy the day, enjoy the moment but there are other big races out there to win. If I had a bad day yesterday, I'm more hungry than ever.' Coming as close as he did to winning the Kentucky Derby like he did this year only intensifies that hunger in his bid to win the biggest prize in horse racing. 'You need a good horse and a barn that supports you,' Rispoli believes. 'Irad (Ortiz Jr.) and Flavien (Prat) on the East Coast ride for specific trainers. Here, Juan (Hernandez) is riding a lot for Bob (Baffert). You need those stables that support you from the beginning when the 2-year-olds comes around.' Rispoli has gained the confidence of trainer Michael McCarthy and owner Aron Wellman of Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and he has every intention of rewarding that confidence all the way to the Breeders' Cup this fall at Del Mar. Prayers Pouring In For Kyle Busch After 'Scary' Practice Crash
Prayers Pouring In For Kyle Busch After 'Scary' Practice Crash originally appeared on The Spun. The bad luck just keeps pouring on for NASCAR star Kyle Busch as a crash in practice left his car a mess and had fans scrambling to make sure he was okay. During practice in Iowa today, Busch was doing a practice lap and things seemed to be going fine until his car swerved coming off a turn. Losing control, Busch's Chevrolet smashed nearly head-on with a wall before bouncing off. Flames could be seen emerging from the inside of the car as it spun into a stop. Concern quickly mounted for Busch as not everyone could see whether he was able to get out of the car safely. "Yeah almost head on, that was insane what a crash. Nice to know they have safer barriers unlike Indy last week. Glad he's ok," one user replied. "I'm so glad he's ok," wrote another. "That hit was scary, what broke?" a third wondered. Busch appeared to be fine but his car was an absolute mess once it made it back into the garage: Busch was released from medical treatment and spoke to reporters afterwards. He remarked that his No. 8 car had been struggling with "rear chatter" leading up to the crash. He lamented going into the fateful turn with "too much trust" and was punished with right rear chattering and overcorrecting, leading to the impact with the wall. More bad luck for Busch The story of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series and really the past two seasons for Busch have been one bit of bad luck after another. He has now gone two calendar years without winning a race and has not led a single lap over the last 10 races - the longest such streak of his storied racing career. Busch is still in the hunt for a spot in the NASCAR Cup playoffs. But he's on a razor-thin edge and would be near the back of the pack in the points-only qualification. Last year he missed the playoffs entirely, so he'll need a dazzling finish if he wants to get in at all. In the meantime, we're just glad that he's Pouring In For Kyle Busch After 'Scary' Practice Crash first appeared on The Spun on Aug 2, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Aug 2, 2025, where it first appeared.

AC Milan, Man Utd Get Bad News as PSG Intend to Keep 18 Goal Scorer This Summer
Gonçalo Ramos' future at PSG was uncertain, with transfer rumors continuing to circulate the Portuguese striker this summer. However, it appears as though he might remain in the French capital. He finished the 2024-25 season with 18 goals and six assists in 41 appearances, but it's unclear if that will secure his spot in Paris. Last May, CaughtOffside noted growing interest in Ramos, with a potential deal still on the table. Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Napoli, and Juventus have all been keeping an eye on him. Meanwhile, Arsenal and Manchester United are also looking to strengthen their attacking options this summer. Journalist Graeme Bailey previously reported that Manchester United was allowed to sign the 24-year-old, as PSG appears willing to let him go. Ramos has reportedly also held talks with clubs in Europe and Saudi Arabia. PSG intend to keep AC Milan, Man Utd targetAmid the rumors linking him away from PSG, journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that AC Milan made a serious move to sign Ramos, but PSG's asking price is too steep. The French club are set on keeping the striker this summer despite the interest from other sides. This new information from Tavolieri comes after he reported that AC Milan were seriously considering Ramos as a top target. Milan officials had already in talks with the Portuguese striker's representatives to explore a potential deal. Nonetheless, that doesn't seem like it will happen.
