This state-of-the-art J-class gas turbine addition boasts superior efficiency compared to Power Stations 3 & 4. Scheduled for completion in Q4 2024, Block 4 will boost PS5's total capacity to 2,481 MW, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 0.5 tonnes of CO2 per tonne of aluminium produced.
A consortium of Mitsubishi Power and SEPCOIII is responsible for the entire project lifecycle, from design and engineering to construction and commissioning. Alba has achieved in April 2024 the first fire of the state-of-the-art GT for Block 4 Project.

Bahraini national Ali Aseeri named Acting Manager Engineering & Projects at Alba
Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba), one of the world's largest aluminium smelters on a single site, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ali Aseeri as the Acting Manager of Engineering & Projects, effective immediately. Ali brings over two decades of engineering expertise to this role. He started his career in Alba's Engineering Department in 2005, following which he helb capacity enhancement projects such as Line 6 and Line 4 Anode Enlargement Projects and Upgrades of Gas Treatment Centres 1 through 4. Sohaila Rahman is a UK-qualified lawyer with over twenty years of experience. Her professional background includes significant roles in private practice and in-house legal departments across the UK, UAE, and Bahrain. She has advised financial institutions, real estate developers, and multinational companies on a wide range of legal matters, including M&A transactions, corporate governance, and real estate development. Sohaila has held senior positions at Al Tamimi & Company, The Bahrain Petroleum Company, Eagle Hills Diyar Company, KBH Kaanuun, Baker & McKenzie, Clifford Chance LLP, and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
