Anti-fraud dashboard to monitor Ayushman Bharat claims

on Wednesday inaugurated the State Anti-fraud Unit Dashboard for monitoring Ayushman Bharat scheme claims. Pandey said this system will set a new precedent in ensuring effective control over corruption in the state.
This system has been jointly developed by Bihar Swastha Suraksha Samiti and Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI). "This dashboard is a significant step from a technological perspective, establishing a robust framework for transparency, accountability, and monitoring in health services. It will bring transparency in the claim processing under the Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana, and will effectively curb fraudulent billing by hospitals," the health minister said, adding any false claims made by hospitals can now be factually prevented, and the genuine ones can be settled in a timely manner.
"This system will also aid in ensuring timely payments to hospitals and prompt services beneficiaries.
Member secretary of ADRI, Ashmita Gupta, updated those present at the inauguration with the work of geo-mapping of approximately 20,000 private healthcare units in Bihar.

Ensure sufficient medicine stock for snake and dog bites, Mandya ZP CEO instructs PHCs
Mandya Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer K.R. Nandini has asked Primary Health Centres (PHCs) to ensure availability of sufficient stock of medicines for snake and dog bites. During a surprise visit to the PHC at Chandagalu village in Mandya taluk on Friday, Ms. Nandini inspected the medicines available at the hospital used for treating snake and dog bites, and sought details regarding their availability and expiry dates. If timely treatment is provided at the PHC itself, referring the patients to urban hospitals can be avoided, she pointed out. During her visit to the PHC, Ms. Nandini reviewed attendance of the staff, records related to in-patients and out-patients, hospital cleanliness, waste management, and documentation related to Ayushman Bharat-Arogya Karnataka scheme. She also spoke to the Asha works present at the hospital and advised them to visit houses in their jurisdiction, and spread awareness about dengue and malaria fever. Ms. Nandini emphasised the need to encourage pregnant women to undergo regular check-ups and ensure timely vaccinations for the children. Meanwhile, medical officer at the PHC Hemanth Raj pointed out that a new building for the PHC had been sanctioned as the current building had become old. As the land on which the present PHC stands was under a legal dispute, an alternate site had been approved for the construction of the PHC, he added. Panchayat Development Officer Vidya and elected Gram Panchayat members of Chandagalu Gram Panchayat were also present on the occasion.

DMHO inspects UPHC in Atmakur
Atmakur (Nandyal district): Dr R Venkata Ramana, District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) of Nandyal, conducted a surprise inspection of the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) in Atmakur town on Thursday. During the inspection, Dr Ramana emphasised strict adherence to punctuality and professional conduct by medical officers and health staff. He cautioned that any lapses in duty would result in stringent disciplinary action. As part of the inspection, he reviewed the functioning of the OP (Outpatient) department, interacted with patients to assess the quality of services, and verified the distribution of medicines and the maintenance of medical records. He also directed the staff to ensure proper display of IEC (Information, Education and Communication) of materials related to national health and family welfare programmes for the benefit of patients and the general public. Later, the DM&HO proceeded to Sivapuram Goodem village to inspect a mobile medical camp being conducted as part of the outreach healthcare services. He examined the availability of medicines and medical registers and interacted with patients to gauge the effectiveness of service delivery. Dr Ramana instructed medical officers, secretariat health staff, and ASHA workers to provide timely and efficient care without negligence. Any failure in service delivery, he warned, would lead to disciplinary proceedings. Additionally, the DM&HO monitored the implementation of the 'Friday - Dry Day' sanitation campaign in the village and urged officials to enforce it strictly. He also reviewed the progress of ABHA ID generation and the enrolment of eligible beneficiaries under the PMJAY (Ayushman Bharat) scheme, directing health teams to ensure that no deserving individual is left out. During the visit, he also inspected the NCD–CD (Non-Communicable Diseases – Communicable Diseases) survey activities, reiterating that any form of negligence in conducting the surveys would be met with firm action.

Robotic hip replacement op at KGMU
Lucknow: Doctors at KGMU successfully performed two robot-assisted hip replacement surgeries, making it the first govt institution in UP to achieve this feat. Both patients received the surgery free of cost under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. The first patient, 20-year-old Durgesh, a farmer from Lakhimpur Kheri, suffered from arthritis that severely damaged his hip, causing him intense pain and making it difficult to walk. After being advised to undergo hip replacement surgery by local doctors, he was referred to KGMU. In the orthopaedics department, he was admitted under the head of department, Prof Ashish Kumar, who opted for robotic surgery due to its precision and quicker recovery time. Similarly, 75-year-old Brahm Dev from Basti, also suffering from severe arthritis, underwent the robotic hip replacement. Given his advanced age, conventional surgery posed higher risks. Therefore, Prof Ashish and his team decided to perform the procedure using a robot.
