Lauren Sanchez labelled 'tacky' in cruel swipe on Jeff Bezos wedding day

Daily Mirror2 days ago

Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos tied the knot yesterday in a multi-million dollar celebration surrounded by plenty of A-list friends in Venice, Italy – but some weren't pleased
Jeff Bezos' wife Lauren Sanchez has been labelled "tacky" by Katie Couric on her wedding day. The billionaire couple tied the knot this week in their no expenses spared celebration.
However, it seems that one journalist wasn't too impressed by the event as she called Lauren "tacky". Katie Couric got involved in the last post from Jack Schlossberg, who is a writer famous for being the nephew of John F. Kennedy Jr. and the daughter of Caroline Kennedy.

Schlossberg appeared to have poked fun at Bezos and Sánchez over the wedding celebration in Venice, Italy, this week. He reposted the cover of Vogue on Friday which showed Lauren in her white lace wedding dress.

He captioned the photo: "Like I said … vogue." Lauren looked stunning in the snap as she smiled from ear to ear while wearing her dress which featured long sleeves and a figure hugging shape.
It also had floral lace which hugged her hips before fanning out at the knees. Couric then left her comment where she called the bride "tacky" in a cruel dig.
"Welcome to the eighties — when big hair and conspicuous consumption ruled. Apparently tacky is back," she wrote.
The world's second richest man Jeff Bezos got married to with his long-term partner Lauren in Venice, Italy yesterday. The couple are husband and wife after they said their "I do's" in an extravagant £48million ceremony surrounded by their famous friends and family – despite already having a smaller, legal ceremony beforehand.

The couple said their vows in a ceremony lasting around 25 minutes, with family and friends gathered at the event. They were heard cheering, clapping and whistling for the pair after they said "I do".
The pair got married in front of a number of celebrities including the Kardashian-Jenners, Oprah Winfrey and Leonardo DiCaprio. Ivanka Trump was also in attendance as was Rania Al Abdullah, the Queen of Jordan.
Despite the pair celebrating their nuptials in Venice this week, it has been reported that the pair had actually tied the knot weeks ago.

According to an insider involved in the event planning, they said: "They have been married for at least a month, more than a month. The marriage is fully legal and took place in America under American law."
This week's festivities have been widely billed as their wedding, but the source revealed it's purely ceremonial. "When they were planning the wedding, they were clear about the fact that they were already secretly married," they said.
It has been reported that Bezos himself confirmed the legal union and noted the pair had arranged a prenuptial agreement to safeguard his $244 billion fortune. Bezos and Sanchez reportedly married privately in the U.S., well before the high-profile celebration began.

Jeff Bezos & wife Lauren jet off for expensive honeymoon at White Lotus location

Newlyweds Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos leave their luxury wedding to embark on a multi-million dollar honeymoon at a famous hotel featured on The White Lotus season two Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos are rumoured to set sail on a luxury trip for their honeymoon after they tied the knot last week in a three-day multi-million dollar wedding celebration in Venice. The billionaire couple haven't publicly confirmed where they are going for their honeymoon, but a source has claimed they will stay in the area of Torcello before heading to Nicelli airport. The newlyweds are said to fly in a helicopter back to Bezos' $500 million superyacht, 'Koru,' where they will move on to Taormina in Sicily. ‌ The Daily Mail have reported that the couple fell in love with the town last year when they sailed along Sicily's coast and the Aeolian Islands. It is reported that Jeff and Lauren will anchor in Taormina and spend some time together at Four Seasons San Domenico Palace. ‌ The magnificent hotel is famous for being the primary location of The White Lotus season 2 and a suite can cost upwards of €7,000 a night. The hotel website states: 'Perched on a rocky promontory high above the Ionian Sea, San Domenico Palace, an exclusive five-star luxury hotel in Taormina, invites you to experience the charm of a reimagined 14th-century Sicilian convent.' Before setting off, the newlyweds were snapped beaming and waving goodbye as they left the Aman Venice hotel by boat on Sunday. Lauren cut a smart figure in a white dress with an elegant drape. She finished the look with a black hat and some stylish oversized sunglasses. Hubby Jeff looked just as smart in a navy t-shirt and sunglasses. On 27 June, the couple exchanged vows at the stunning San Giorgio Maggiore island, set against Venice's iconic lagoon. The ceremony unfolded in a black‑tie garden event—Lauren arrived in a cream Dior suit before switching into a custom Dolce & Gabbana lace gown, inspired by Sophia Loren and crafted over 900 hours. Around 200 high‑profile guests arrived by water taxi to witness the nuptials, including Oprah Winfrey, Kim & Kylie Jenner, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bill Gates, Tom Brady, Usher and Orlando Bloom. ‌ Shortly after the wedding, Lauren changed her Instagram handle to @laurensanchezbezos, confirming the newlyweds' joy to the world. The couple took three days out of their busy schedule to celebrate their wedding, which is believed to have cost close to £40million. And while the happy couple and their guests enjoyed the celebrations which went without a hitch, it seems not everybody was pleased that the retail giant had booked out the entire Italian city. An estimated 700 demonstrators gathered together at Santa Lucia train station armed with banners that read "If you can rent Venice for your wedding, you can pay more tax." The demonstration is believed to have been organised by the No Space For Bezos group. A few members of the group were seen laden with Amazon boxes that had the words "ordered, shipped, delivered, rejected" written on them.

Pop star Olivia Rodrigo landed the role of closing this year's event on the Pyramid Stage. She performed to a massive crowd as fans flocked to see the American star perform her hits such as Drivers License and Good 4 U. Other fans expressed their love for both acts. One said: "Conflicted about who to tune into tonight, Olivia Rodrigo or the Prodigy. Prodigy bring the energy, but I have a real curiosity in seeing who Olivia Rodrigo might bring out on stage with her, and I can't fault her tunes. Two very solid Sunday night closers." A fan also gushed: "Olivia Rodrigo is an amazing performer. A great headliner… and only 22!" Olivia, 22, rose to global fame for her hit single, Driver's License, topping the charts along with her songs Vampire and Good 4 You. ‌ The former Disney star previously performed at Glastonbury's Other Stage in 2022, going viral for bringing out British singer Lily Allen. Olivia revealed headlining Glastonbury was a "dream" for her. Posting on her Instagram story, the singer said: 'Headlining glasto has been one of my biggest dreams for so long. But who's to say, I don't know. I don't know where I'm going to be tomorrow, let alone in five years.' She also teased a potential venture away from music in the near future.
