India highlights its energy security plans at 9th OPEC International Seminar

New Delhi, July 10 (UNI) Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri highlighted India's momentum in the energy sector to explore and drill for hydrocarbons, opening 2.5 lakh sq km under OALP or Open Acreage Licensing Policy Round-10.
He was speaking at the 9th OPEC International Seminar in Vienna, Austria, with the theme 'Oil Markets: Energy Security, Growth & Prosperity'.
The Minister highlighted that this step is a result of key sectoral reforms, including a transition from the Production Sharing Contract Regime to the Revenue Sharing Model under the HELP or Hydrocarbon Exploration and Licensing Policy initiative by the Government.
He also pointed to the amendments of ORD (Oilfields Regulations and Development Act) 1948. The Oilfields Regulations and Development Act 1948 focuses on regulating the procedure of exploration and extraction of mineral resources.
The minister also pointed towards the forerunner initiatives taken under the umbrella of National Data Acquisition including National Seismic Program, the Andaman Offshore Project, Mission Anveshan, and the Extended Continental Shelf Survey.
Puri also termed India as the growth engine and stabilizer of global oil markets, being the world's third-largest energy consumer with a demand of approximately 5.4 million barrels per day. He stressed the expansion of crude import sources from 27 to 40 countries and emphasised on fostering domestic production capacity and the development of alternate fuels.
Minister Puri also highlighted the 'Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana' for providing about 103 million LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) connections to women and EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) households. He also stressed the importance of biofuels and the Global Biofuels Alliance, which has now almost 29 countries and 14 international organizations as members.
The Global Biofuels Alliance (GBA) was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with the leaders of USA, Brazil, Italy, Argentina, Singapore, Bangladesh, Mauritius and UAE on September 9, 2023, on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in New Delhi, as Chair's initiative.

Jammu, July 12 (UNI) Appointment letters were today presented to 237 candidates under Prime Minister Employment Fair organized by the Northern Railway, Jammu Division at a function held here at Convention Centre. The letters were provided to newly appointed employees in various ministries and departments of the Central Government. The appointment letters were given to the newly appointed young men and women by the Union Minister of State Jitin Prasad in the presence of Lok Sabha MP Jugal Kishore. During this program, Prime Minister Narendra Modi provided appointment letters to 51000 youth across the country through video conferencing under the 16th Employment Fair. This is the first job fair of Jammu Division under the leadership of Divisional Railway Manager Vivek Kumar after the formation of Jammu Division. Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Division was also present on the occasion. This job fair was launched by the Prime Minister on October 22, 2022 under 'Mission Mode'. Divisional Railway Manager Vivek Kumar said, 'this job fair is an important initiative towards the Prime Minister's commitment of 'employment for all'. It aims to empower the youth and motivate them to play an active role in nation building.' Union Minister Chirag Paswan who is also the national president of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) received a death threat on social media in which the sender claimed to attack the leader with a bomb. Following the death threat party's chief spokesperson Rajesh Bhatt lodged the case at Patna Cyber Crime Police Station at 9 PM, on Friday (July 11, 2025). Police have registered the case under section 66-F of IT Act which deals with cyber terrorism and 351 (2) of BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita) which deals with criminal intimidation. In the complaint letter is it mentioned that Mr. Paswan has got the death threat on social media platform Instagram account of YouTuber journalist Dakshapriya by a person named Tiger Meraj Idrisi. 'Fearing due to growing popularity of my leader, today through social media, an Instagram account in the name of Tiger Meraj Idrisi has threatened to kill Union Minister Chirag Paswan Ji by blowing him up with a bomb which shows absolutely criminal tendency and involvement in illegal acts,' Mr. Bhatt said in the complaint. In the comment box, suspect Idrisi has written a message ''I will blow Chirag Paswan with a bomb on July 20, Chirag Paswan will be killed by me.' A senior official of the Cyber Crime Police Station confirmed that an FIR has been lodged with the case number 1592/25, dated July 11, 2025. Inspector Pradeep Kishore Sinha has been given the responsibility to investigate the case. 'We have received a complaint regarding a death threat against Union Minister Chirag Paswan through social media. Taking this matter very seriously, a case has been registered immediately. It is being investigated.' Nitish Chandra Dharia, Cyber Police Station In-charge cum Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) told the media in Patna. In the light of the death threat, Mr. Bhatt urged the police to take immediate action keeping in mind the seriousness of the matter and arrest the suspected criminal immediately along with harsh punishment. Arun Bharti the brother-in-law of Chirag Paswan and Jamui MP posted a message on social media platform 'X' on July 12, 2025 and accused opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) responsible for the threat. 'Fearing an unexpected defeat, the criminal elements of RJD, who want to bring Jungle Raj 2.0 in Bihar, are now in a frenzy, threatening to blow up Chirag Paswan ji with a bomb on social demand that the state government pay attention to providing adequate security arrangements and take strict action against the culprit. Chirag Paswan is the son of a lion! He has never been scared of anyone, nor will he ever be! He will live for Bihar, He will die for Bihar!'
