Springboks Siya Kolisi's saga worse than expected!
The double World Cup winner missed the Barbarian's game at the end of June but was expected to make a return for this weekend; however, the injury is reportedly worse than expected.
'He had a stiff neck, which has cleared up, but now he's got a bit of Achilles stiffness. It's not serious – the scans are clear – but we're just being careful. No player will play more than eight or nine matches this year, so we'd rather be safe,' said Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus.
It's yet to be confirmed whether Kolisi will feature this month, but it wouldn't be over presumptions to assume that he will be rested in order to be fit and ready for the highly-anticipated Rugby Championship. After all, the Springbok coach is adamant that no player will feature more than nine teams in 2025.
15 Damian Willemse, 14 Cheslin Kolbe, 13 Jesse Kriel (c), 12 Damian de Allende, 11 Kurt-Lee Arendse, 10 Handre Pollard, 9 Morne van den Berg, 8 Jasper Wiese, 7 Vincent Tshituka, 6 Marco van Staden, 5 Lood de Jager, 4 Eben Etzebeth, 3 Wilco Louw, 2 Malcolm Marx, 1 Ox Nche.
Bench: 16 Bongi Mbonambi, 17 Jan-Hendrik Wessels, 18 Vincent Koch, 19 RG Snyman, 20 Franco Mostert, 21 Kwagga Smith, 22 Faf de Klerk, 23 Willie le Roux.
Rassie Erasmus is inundated with world-class talent, leaving several key players, deserving of the international stage, out of the squad, including Stormers star Evan Roos.
'At this stage he's [Roos] just competing with the best. We all have different opinions on who plays well and who doesn't. In our opinion, he wasn't playing as well as the other guys and that's normally the reason we don't select guys,' Erasmus admitted.
'At this stage, Juarno [Augustus; failed to pass an exit medical at Northhampton Saints ahead of his move to Ulster] and Cameron [Hanekom] are out. Evan was not playing as well as the other guys. That's not to say he isn't Springbok level, it's just that Kwagga Smith, Cameron, Juarno, and Siya [Kolisi] can all play eight.'
'A guy can be good enough, but there are just two or three guys who we think fit better into what we are trying to do as a Springbok team. Maybe he just doesn't fit that plan or the other guys are a bit more settled,' the Springbok coach concluded.

Kaizer Chiefs lose momentum in transfer race
Kaizer Chiefs fans are growing increasingly impatient as the club continues to fall behind in the transfer market. With several targets slipping away and rivals strengthening, supporters are calling for bold action. This week, Kaizer Chiefs were snubbed again — this time by Oswin Appollis, who joined Orlando Pirates despite long-standing interest from Naturena. The winger was viewed as a key piece in Chiefs' rebuild, but the club's inability to close the deal has once again left fans frustrated. Flavio Silva remains Kaizer Chiefs' only confirmed attacking arrival. While the Portuguese striker has talent, he arrives with little fanfare and few guarantees. With the squad still thin in attack, supporters are demanding more signings before the window closes. Michael Olunga and Fiston Mayele were both linked with the club, but those pursuits appear to have fizzled out due to high price tags. Internal sources claim the technical team is exploring other options, but progress has been slow. Jessica Motaung offered a statement to ease concerns: 'We are working tirelessly to finalise the right players. These decisions are not easy, but we want to do what's best for Kaizer Chiefs long-term.' While that may offer some reassurance, time is running out. The Toyota Cup is fast approaching, and Kaizer Chiefs have yet to announce any marquee names. With Pirates already making big moves, fans fear the team may once again fall short of expectations. The club's vision of returning to domestic and continental dominance remains intact, but execution has been lacking. The next few weeks could define Kaizer Chiefs' season — for better or worse. What Kaizer Chiefs can expect from their 'new playmaker'
Kaizer Chiefs new signing Ethan Chislett is decribed as a technically gifted midfielder with an ability to score goals. His former coach at Port Vale, Andy Crosby has opened up on the attributes of the Durban-born midfielder who joined Amakhosi a few weeks ago. The 26-year-old is one of the six new Amakhosi signings ahead of the new season. 'His technical ability to receive in tight spaces, his ability to play the last pass (assist) and his ability to score,' Crosby told Soccer Laduma . 'He progressed throughout his first season, grew more comfortable in his new club and with his teammates and style of play,' Chislett has scored 13 goals in 68 league appearances for The Valiants across two seasons, in two different league levels. It remains to be seen if the Durban-born midfielder will outperform other new Kaizer Chiefs signings. This past weekend, the Soweto giants announced the signing of former SuperSport United midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu. Before that, the club revealed that former Orlando Pirates duo of Thabiso Monyane and Paseko Mako were part of the Khosi family. Other new signings include Flavio Silva and Nkanyiso Shinga. Kaizer Chiefs are currently in the Netherlands for their pre-season training and will play in several friendly matches next week. Springboks secure commanding victory against Italy at Loftus
In the end South Africa prevailed largely because of their physicality and clinical finishing — and they could have scored more tries if it was not for Italy's resolute defending. It was a match that was not short of tries, with the Springboks scoring six and the visitors getting three. Handrè Pollard scored 12 points from the kicking tee. South Africa took the lead inside 10 minutes when outside centre Jesse Kriel, who was stand-in captain in the absence of Siya Kolisi, dotted down on the far-right corner. The try was only confirmed after a review by the TMO as there was suspicion that Kriel may have been offside, which was not the case. Italy suffered a blow after 22 minutes when loose-forward Lorenzo Cannone was sent to the sin bin for cynical play and the Boks took advantage immediately. They took the scrum that ended with the first international try for Morne van den Berg and increased their advantage a few minutes later when Kurt-Lee Arendse got the better of the Italian defence from a line-out. Shortly before the break the Boks took full control of the match when Van den Berg registered his second try of the afternoon by exploiting space on the edge of the set-piece. Italy finally got their first try shortly after the restart when Manuel Zuliani crossed over the line, with Giacomo Da Re converting as they narrowed the gap to 18 points.
