Unemployment Rate Among Saudis Drops to Historic Low of 6.3% in Q1 2025
The results of the Q1 Labor Force Survey, released today by the General Authority for Statistics, show that the unemployment rate among Saudis has declined to a historic low of 6.3% in the first quarter of 2025, down from 7% at the end of Q4 2024.
This marks the lowest unemployment level ever recorded in the Kingdom, surpassing the Saudi Vision 2030 target of reducing unemployment to 7%. The Ministry of Human Resources is now aiming for a new target of 5%.
The unemployment rate among Saudi males stood at approximately 4.0%, while the rate among Saudi females reached 10.5%. For non-Saudis, the unemployment rate was 0.8%.
According to the Authority, based on labor force survey estimates, the overall unemployment rate for the working-age population was 2.8% in Q1 2025, compared to 3.5% in Q4 2024.
The data also showed a rise in the labor force participation rate for Saudi males, reaching 66.4% in Q1 2025.
The labor force participation rate among Saudi females also increased, reaching 36.3% in the same period.
It is worthy to note that the Northern Borders Region recorded the highest overall unemployment rate among Saudi regions at 5.1%, while Riyadh and the Eastern Province reported the lowest rates at 1.4% and 1.9%, respectively.

Saudi Arabia imposes final anti-dumping duties on imports of steel pipes from China and Taiwan

The final duties will be applied to imports of this product for a period of five years starting June 30, 2025. The minister also directed the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority to impose and collect final anti-dumping duties on the product in question at rates ranging from 6.5 percent to 27.3 percent, according to the table included in this decision that contains details of the duties. The decision to impose the final anti-dumping duties comes in accordance with the Law of Trade Remedies in International Trade, which aims to protect the local industry from unfair trade practices in the Saudi market. This decision is based on the final results of an investigation that began on May 2, 2024, following a complaint filed by the local industry, in accordance with the regulations of the Law of Trade Remedies in International Trade. The objective of the law is to protect the domestic industry from the damage caused by dumped and subsidized imports, prevent a surge in imports, and protect the Kingdom's exports that are subject to trade-remedy measures.

Saudi Arabia and China sign executive program to strengthen cultural collaboration
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The Ministry of Culture and the China-Arab Cultural and Tourism Cooperation Research Center signed on Sunday an executive program aimed at further strengthening collaboration between Saudi Arabia and China in the cultural field. The executive program was signed by Deputy Minister for Research and Cultural Heritage Affairs Dr. Maha Abdullah Alsenan, and Vice President of Beijing International Studies University and Member of the Joint Committee of the China-Arab Research Center for Cultural and Tourism Cooperation Cheng Wei in a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture in Diriyah. The executive program, taking place in parallel with the 2025 Saudi-Chinese Cultural Year, reinforces joint efforts in cultural areas. Under the program, the two sides will jointly carry out research projects to enhance the quality of cultural research submitted and collaborate to identify and compile cultural content related to each country held in national archives. In addition, the Ministry of Culture will collaborate with the Chinese side to hold joint conferences and support mutual visits and exchanges between cultural researchers from both countries to discuss common cultural issues. The program also includes support for research exchange operations, facilitating visits by Saudi researchers to Chinese universities and research centers, as well as by Chinese researchers to Saudi universities and research centers. It provides both sides with specialists in cultural fields, offers support in the research fellowship program, and provides consultative support. This executive program comes within the context of the Ministry of Culture's commitment to promoting international cultural exchange as one of the objectives of the National Culture Strategy under the Saudi Vision 2030. Over 500 events set to draw 2.5 million visitors as Al-Baha Summer Festival kicks off
Saudi Gazette report AL-BAHA — Emir of Al-Baha Prince Hussam bin Saud inaugurated on Sunday the Al-Baha Summer Festival 2025. The festival, with the theme of "Al and Tourism" will witness more than 500 events that set to draw 2.5 million visitors. Speaking on the occasion, Prince Hussam emphasized that all agencies are working as one team to provide an exceptional summer experience for the people of Al-Baha and its visitors. He stressed the need to activate field committees to monitor events and tourist sites, including parks and gardens, and develop a comprehensive traffic plan to help avoid congestion. The Emir also emphasized adherence to public decency regulations in public places. He called on security and service agencies to continue their efforts to accommodate visitors and vacationers and treat them well, reflecting a positive image of the region and its people. For his part, Mayor of Al-Baha Region and Chairman of the Executive Committee for Al-Baha Summer 2025 Dr. Ali Al-Sawat shed light on the major features of the events taking place in Al-Baha City and the five governorates of the Sarawat Sector.
