A classy Wakefield Trinity display lifted them into the top six in Super League as they claimed a thumping 44-6 win against Catalans Dragons at Belle Vue.The hosts ran in eight tries as they outclassed their tame opponents from Perpignan from the first whistle.Two tries each from Lachlan Walmsley and Josh Rourke helped send Wakefield on their way against the beleaguered Dragons whose chances of making the play-offs took another hit.Further tries from Max Jowitt, who also kicked six goals, Josh Griffin, Mason Lino and Tom Johnstone added to the scoreline for Trinity, who were playing in front of their biggest home attendance since 2013.More to follow.

Take a look at the general classification after three stages. Blackmore, a 22-year-old in his first Tour, sits in seventh place, 41 seconds behind race leader Mathieu van der Poel. From Sidcup in southeast London, Blackmore learnt to ride on the track at Herne Hill and became a reasonably accomplished mountain biker and gravel racer. He also did a bit of road racing. A decent rider for sure but not seen by anyone, except perhaps himself, as a future star.

French Olympic fencer cleared as CAS accepts positive test linked to kissing partner
July 7 (Reuters) - The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has overturned French Olympic fencer Ysaora Thibus's four-year suspension for doping, ruling that her positive test for a banned substance was caused by kissing her then-boyfriend, American fencer Race Imboden. Thibus, silver medallist in team foil at the Tokyo Games, had tested positive for ostarine, a prohibited muscle-building substance, during a competition in Paris in January 2024. However, CAS concluded there was no intentional wrongdoing, finding it scientifically plausible that repeated kissing over several days with Olympic medallist Imboden — who was taking ostarine at the time — led to accidental contamination. The court dismissed an appeal from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), which had sought a four-year suspension. The sport's top court instead upheld a previous ruling from the International Fencing Federation's doping disciplinary tribunal (DDT) that had already cleared Thibus of any fault. "The CAS Panel ruled that the antidoping rule violation for the presence of ostarine was not intentional, and that it is not questionable that Ms Thibus bears no fault or negligence," the court said in a statement. "The DDT decision is upheld and the appeal is dismissed." The case has drawn comparisons to an incident in 2009 involving French tennis player Richard Gasquet, who was exonerated after arguing that he had tested positive for cocaine after kissing someone at a nightclub. Thibus was able to compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics following the initial DDT ruling, finishing fifth in the team foil event on home soil.

Olympic fencing star CLEARED of doping as authorities accept her staggering excuse in court
One of the world's top fencers has been cleared of charges that she used performance enhancers after she was found to have tested positive for a banned substance from an intimate moment. Ysaora Thibus, an Olympian from France, was cleared by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on Monday. Judges accepted her defense that she had been contaminated because she kissed her American partner over the course of nine days. It's a similar defense to that of former French tennis star Richard Gasquet, who cleared his name after testing positive for cocaine by claiming he French-kissed a stripper in a Miami nightclub. By clearing her name, the CAS dismissed an appeal by the World Anti-Doping Agency - who was requesting Thibus be banned for four years. Back in January 2024, Thibus tested positive for ostarine - an anabolic substance. She was later cleared by an International Fencing Federation tribunal in the weeks leading up to the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris. Thibus claimed that she was contaminated 'through kissing with her then partner, who had been using a product containing ostarine without her knowledge.' WADA challenged that assertion, but the courts ruled in the fencer's favor. The court said Monday 'it is scientifically established that the intake of an ostarine dose similar to the dose ingested by Ms Thibus' then partner would have left sufficient amounts of ostarine in the saliva to contaminate a person through kissing.' Judges from the CAS 'accepted that Ms. Thibus' then-partner was taking ostarine from Jan. 5, 2024, and that there was contamination over nine days with a cumulative effect.' At the time, she was dating male model and two-time Olympic fencing bronze medalist Race Imboden. Imboden claimed that he had been taking ostarine to restore the muscle tone he'd lost since retiring in order to benefit his modelling career. Thibus won a silver medal in the women's team foil at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. In her home nation, she placed fifth in the team event and 28th in the women's individual foil.
