
Eid-ul-Azha celebrated with religious fervour
The day dawned with special prayers in mosques for well-being of the Muslim Ummah and peace, progress and prosperity of the country.
Eid congregations were held at mosques, Eidgahs and open places in all cities, towns and villages across the country.
Ulema, in their Eid sermons, highlighted the significance and philosophy of great sacrifice offered by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismael (AS).
After offering Eid prayers, the faithful offered sacrifice of animals to follow the Sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS). The process of sacrificing the animals continued on second and third days of Eid i.e. Sunday and Monday. After offering sacrifice of animals, the faithful distributed meat to their relatives and needy people. The faithful also visited graveyards to offer Fateha to their family members who left this world.
The civic bodies in cities and towns have made special arrangements for disposal of offal and other solid waste during three days of Eid-ul-Azha and to ensure cleanliness. The Lahore Waste Management Company under Suthra Punjab made elaborate arrangements for cleanliness. The top management of LWMC remained in the field to ensure cleanliness arrangements.
Radio and TV channels presented special programmes in connection with Eid-ul-Azha. Elaborate security arrangements were made for the security of the faithful.

CM promises nonstop water supply in 1,200 Model Villages
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting for a briefing on the Model Village, 'Suthra Punjab and Waste to Value Projects. She reviewed the progress made on a project to develop 1,200 model villages. She said on the occasion that round the clock water supply, complete sewage network and waste management and treatment plants would be built in every model village." She added, "Punjab's model villages will also have paved streets, road rehabilitation, children's parks and tree plantation." She highlighted, "Houses will be numbered and signboards will also be installed in model villages." The chief minister was briefed by the authorities concerned on the solar system-powered water supply and sewage system for the model villages. She was apprised that development projects in 130 villages in the pilot phase have been completed. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif sought a deadline for the early completion of the model village project, and said, "Priority will be determined in the model village project by keeping in mind public needs of the area. Every village will be fully developed under Model Village Project."

Private societies urged to maintain sewage systems
LAHORE: To ensure urban resilience and citizen safety during the ongoing monsoon season, the Punjab Housing Department has directed all private housing societies across the province to maintain effective drainage and sewage systems. According to the department on Wednesday, Punjab Housing Secretary Noor-ul-Amin Mengal issued directives to all district development authorities and relevant agencies to ensure strict compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). According to the instructions, private housing societies must take responsibility for the cleanliness and maintenance of their sewage and drainage networks. The authorities have been instructed to ensure the availability of necessary machinery to respond promptly in the event of flooding or water accumulation. He further directed that efficient waste management systems must be implemented, and appropriate flood preparedness plans must be in place to deal with urban flooding scenarios. 'It has been observed that the absence of effective strategies during heavy rains causes inconvenience to residents of many private housing societies,' he added. 'This decision, taken under the leadership of the Punjab Chief Minister, aims to prevent such challenges in the future. All relevant departments have been instructed to communicate these measures to the managements of private housing societies and ensure implementation without delay.' CM Maryam rewards sanitation workers in Chiniot
CHINIOT: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz distributed cheques of Rs 10,000 each to 1,129 sanitation workers of Chiniot district under the Punjab Suthra initiative. The ceremony was held in three separate events at the tehsil level, where Members of Provincial Assembly, Additional Deputy Commissioner General, and Assistant Commissioners distributed the cheques to the sanitation workers. During the ceremony, the assembly members praised the sanitation workers for their hard work and dedication, particularly during Eid-ul-Azha, when they sacrificed their holidays to maintain cleanliness standards in the district. They acknowledged the workers' efforts in making the streets and roads of the city and villages clean, presenting a practical example of a clean Punjab. On this occasion, the sanitation workers thanked CM Maryam Nawaz for the cash prize and reiterated their commitment to keeping the district clean with the same spirit and dedication in the future. The district administration and waste management company also distributed appreciation shields and certificates among the officers, recognizing their efforts in maintaining cleanliness standards in the district.
