Pat Surtain says Broncos QB Bo Nix will 'make a lot of noise' in 2025
The 25-year-old quarterback was invited to the Pro Bowl as an alternate last season after surpassing 4,200 yards from scrimmage and scoring 34 touchdowns as a rookie. Nix's first year in the league started a bit shaky, but he showed great improvement as the season went on, finishing the campaign as a Rookie of the Year contender.
Nix is now entering his second year in coach Sean Payton's offense, and it's clear that he's more comfortable.
'Bo, he's even more confident going into this year," cornerback Pat Surtain said Tuesday. "Obviously, with Year 1 under his belt, a lot more confidence rises upon that. The team, we have Bo's back through the whole way through. He's a tremendous leader out there, and a tremendous player. This year, he's going to make a lot of noise, and we're looking forward to seeing what he does and his success moving forward.'
Nix completed 66.3% of his passes last season and only took 24 sacks, impressive totals for his debut year. He'll look to improve on those totals in Year 2 as the Denver Broncos attempt to return to the playoffs after going 10-7 in 2024.

One of Texas A&M's most significant issues under former head coach Jimbo Fisher was the program's lack of special teams success, mainly due to Fisher's choice never to hire a special teams coach. Bond has continued to improve in every aspect of his kicking game, and, with one more solid season, he has a chance to make an NFL roster this time next year. Steelers defense dominates Aaron Rodgers-led offense at Friday Night Lights Practice
The action couldn't be hotter at the Steelers annual Friday Night Lights Practice at Latrobe Memorial Stadium — but the offense looked ice cold during the seven-shots drill of the day, courtesy of a fiery Pittsburgh defense. On the first attempt of the drill, Aaron Rodgers attempted a pass to DK Metcalf but Darius Slay was there in coverage to cause the play to backfire — defense moved up 1-0. Rookie RB Kaleb Johnson attempted a run from shotgun on the next attempt, but was held up by LB Payton Wilson — putting the defense ahead 2-0. On the third play, Rodgers threw a pass towards Pat Freiermuth, but Slay broke up the pass — resulting in the defense furthering their lead to 3-0. Mason Rudolph would take over at quarterback and attempt a pass to Scotty Miller — but the wideout couldn't get his feet down and it resulted in a defensive win of 4-0. The drill continued despite the strong defensive statement, resulting in three straight offensive scores: one from Johnson and two from QB Will Howard to RB Kenneth Gainwell and TE Kevin Folesch. The damage was already done, however, as the defense was up 4-3 at the conclusion of seven-shots. Fans should take the offensive struggles over the past few practices with a grain of salt — as many of these issues will (hopefully) be ironed out by the regular season, while the defense should be commended for its strong performances in Latrobe. 49ers starting offensive lineman predicts that he'll make the Pro Bowl in 2025
While the San Francisco 49ers have a few jobs up for grabs in training camp ahead of their 2025 campaign, one player who's set in his spot is right tackle Colton McKivitz. McKivitz, 28, was San Francisco's fifth-round pick (No. 153 overall) in the 2020 NFL draft after a five-year collegiate career at West Virginia, where he earned All-Big 12 and All-American honors as a senior. After he spent most of his rookie season as a backup and most of the following year on the practice squad, McKivitz eventually took over as the team's starting right tackle in 2023 and has started all 34 games over the last two seasons. As he prepares to enter his third season in the role, McKivitz believes he'll be recognized as one of the top players at his position in the NFL in 2025. 'I'm going to be a Pro Bowler this year, I've told countless people," McKivitz shared with NBC Sports' Matt Maiocco earlier this week. "I'm just putting it out there just because that's going to hold me accountable and get me to where I want to go. If you don't fight for it, you won't get it.' The 49ers are no strangers to having one of their starting tackles make the Pro Bowl, as left tackle Trent Williams made it four straight seasons from 2020-23. However, McKivitz will really have to play great in 2025 to unseat Philadelphia's Lane Johnson, who's made the Pro Bowl each of the last three seasons and has made six in his career. Interestingly, the San Francisco Chronicle's Noah Furtado reported that McKivitiz had the "most impressive offensive/defensive lineman one-on-one rep of the day" on Friday, as he completely shut down a pass rush from Nick Bosa. Maybe that'll be something for him to build on going forward and turn the 2025 season into a Pro Bowl campaign.
