Julius Walker surprised he's not that big of an underdog vs. Alonzo Menifield at UFC Fight Night 252
Walker (6-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) draws ranked light heavyweight Alonzo Menifield (15-5-1 MMA, 8-5-1 UFC) right off the bat in Saturday's UFC Fight Night 252 (ESPN+) main card opener at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.
According to DraftKings, Walker is a +200 underdog against Menifield, who's a -245 favorite. Considering the level of competition Menifield has fought, Walker is pleasantly surprised.
'Honestly, to be completely real with you, the fact that I've been a pro for less than two years, and I've got six fights, and I'm fighting the No. 15-ranked guy in the world, and I think I'm like +170 or something,' Walker told reporters at Wednesday's media day.
'I thought they were going to have me at +300 or +400, something wide like that. But I guess in the light heavyweight division, it's probably pretty tough to put anybody any more than like -200.'
Walker, who has finished all six of his professional fights, is entering his first UFC fight full of excitement.
'I'm definitely not too proud to admit the fact that I'm seeing a lot of these guys, and I'm almost fanboying out a little bit,' Walker said. 'I'm seeing some of these names that I've been watching since I was in high school, and it's definitely a really cool experience. But at the end of the day, if I don't get the victory here – that's the big goal here. I need to get this started off on the right foot.'

Luka Doncic agrees to Lakers extension worth 3 years, $165 million
Luka Dončić has signed a three-year, $165 million maximum contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers, which includes a player option for 2028, according to the team. While the Lakers have announced a contract extension with Luka Dončić, they have not disclosed the terms. ESPN's Shams Charania reports the contract is worth three years, $165 million. Dončić was traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Lakers in February 2025, where he started 28 games to finish the regular season. During this period, he averaged 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, 7.5 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. "I'm really grateful to the Lakers organization, my teammates and the fans for welcoming me and my family with so much support and kindness since day one," Doncic said in a statement. "This is an amazing organization, and I truly believe in what we're building together." After the news was released, Dončić announced on social media that he is dedicating $5 million to the Luka Dončić Foundation to support the development of 77 young athletes worldwide. This program aims to assist athletes aged 12 to 15 by alleviating financial barriers, allowing them to pursue their dreams of playing basketball. I just signed my extension with the Lakers. Excited to keep working to bring championships to LA and make Laker Nation proud. Grateful to the Lakers, my teammates and all the fans who've shown so much love since day one. This is just the beginning. 💜💛 More: Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic shows off new physique in Men's Health

Neil Magny vs. Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos prediction, pick, start time for UFC on ESPN 71
Neil Magny and Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos meet Saturday on the main card of UFC on ESPN 71 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom. Last event: 2-3 UFC main cards, 2025: 72-56-1 Neil Magny vs. Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos UFC on ESPN 71 preview Magny (29-13 MMA, 22-12 UFC) will aim to avoid dropping three straight for the first time in his career. Magny was finished in the first round in back-to-back fights against Michael Morales and Carlos Prates. The last win for Magny came at UFC 297, a third-round comeback stoppage against Mike Malott. ... Dos Santos (25-9-1 MMA, 11-5-1 UFC) is also entering on the heels of a loss – a second-round stoppage to Chidi Njokuani. Prior to that setback in March, dos Santos finished Zach Scroggin just 75 seconds into their November fight. Neil Magny vs. Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos UFC on ESPN 71 expert pick, prediction Serving as a solid offering of two "old heads" is a welterweight clash between Neil Magny and Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos. I'm a fan of both fighters, but there's no denying that we're looking at two post-prime products given their recent form. It's hard to tell who is more shot at this point in their careers, and there are good cases to be made for either side, regardless. I came incredibly close to changing my pick to Magny given how the smaller octagon will likely assist his style, but it's hard to discount the underrated wrestling and grappling of dos Santos. I'm not sure we get a classic performance from either fighter, so I'll semi-reluctantly side with dos Santos to win on the scorecards for being the more offensively potent competitor in pockets. Neil Magny vs. Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos UFC on ESPN 71 odds The oddsmakers and the public are favoring the Brazilian fighter, listing dos Santos (-194) and Magny (+156) via FanDuel. Neil Magny vs. Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos UFC on ESPN 71 start time, how to watch Magny and dos Santos are expected to walk to the cage at approximately 9:40 p.m. ET. The fight broadcasts live on ESPN and streams on ESPN+.

Luka Doncic Breaks Silence After Signing $165M Max Extension With Lakers
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Los Angeles Lakers fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief. After weeks of speculation about the future of point guard Luka Doncic, the 26-year-old superstar put an end to all of the speculation about how committed he is to the Lakers by agreeing to a new max contract with the team on Saturday, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. "BREAKING: Los Angeles Lakers All-NBA star Luka Doncic has signed a three-year, $165 million maximum contract extension with the franchise, with a player option in 2028, agent Bill Duffy of WME Basketball told ESPN," Charania wrote. Though Doncic, who won't hit free agency next season, missed out on a lucrative $345 million supermax with the Dallas Mavericks because of the trade that sent him to L.A. back in early February (players can only earn supermax contracts with the teams that drafted or acquired them in their first four seasons), he can cash in on a $417 million max extension in 2028. This is just the beginning. 💜💛 — Luka Doncic (@luka7doncic) August 2, 2025 Doncic also announced that he plans to use part of his new fortune to help underprivileged athletes. "Today I'm also committing $5 million to help 77 young athletes around the world chase their dreams, just like I did," Doncic added. "Basketball gave me everything, and I'm lucky to be able to give back and help the next generation." With LeBron James exercising his $52.6 million player option, the Lakers are seemingly all-in on next season (both James and Austin Reaves will become free agents in 2026) after locking up Doncic for four more years plus signing center Deandre Ayton to a two-year, $16.2 million contract and guard Marcus Smart to a two-year, $11 million deal. More Basketball: Giannis Antetokounmpo's Surprise Role in Mikal Bridges' $150M Knicks Payday Many believe 20205 will be James' last season with the Lakers. It's been reported he felt less of a priority to the team as it plans to build around Doncic, making him the new face of the franchise. "James understood the Lakers taking advantage of an opportunity to pivot to the younger superstar," ESPN's Ramona Shelburne and Brian Windhorst reported. "But from James' perspective, sources said, nuance was sometimes lost during the transition. "...The Lakers had already made their statement in not offering James a contract beyond this season. It was abundantly clear that the 21-time All-Star's time as the face of the Lakers had, for the first time, a planned end date, even if James' record-setting NBA career did not yet."
