General Motors has recalled over 62,000 vehicles due to a break pressure issue that could lead to fires.
Impacted vehicles include the 2019 to 2024 Chevrolet Silverado models in 4500 HD, 5500 HD, and 6500 HD, General Motors told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in a memo on June 25
The recall includes 62,468 vehicles altogether, the company said.
Here's what we know about the issue and what General Motors is doing to fix it.
What's the issue with the vehicles?
According to General Motors, the brake pressure sensor assembly on the recalled vehicles may leak brake fluid into the brake pressure switch, causing a short circuit. An electrical short in the brake pressure switch can overheat the circuit, increasing the risk of a fire while consumers are driving or parked.

Which vehicles have been impacted?
Most of the impacted vehicles are 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 5500 HD trucks made between January 20, 2023 and March 19, 2024. General Motors said about 10,097 of them run the risk of malfunctioning, per manufacturing records.
'Vehicles prior to 2019 model year use a different design and are not affected by this recall,' the company said. '2024 model year vehicles that were produced with a brake switch wire harness that includes a silicone sealant are not affected by this recall.'
Altogether, the recall includes vehicles listed as:
What should drivers do if they have the impacted vehicles?
Dealers will replace the brake pressure switch wire harnesses for free, General Motors said.
The company notified dealers on June 12. General Motors plans to mail letters to owners by July 28. Once the repair is available, the company will mail a second round of letters.
Until the recall repair is complete, owners should park outside and away from buildings.
Who can drivers call for help or information?
Drivers can contact:
The company said these vehicles were previously repaired under recall no. 23V266 and need to undergo the new repair.

UK drivers put on alert after major car manufacturer recalls nearly 200,000 cars

Ford has issued an urgent recall for nearly 200,000 vehicles due to an issue that could cause passengers to be trapped inside them. The top car brand has notified the USA's National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) of an issue with certain Mustang Mach-E models, reports Safety reports suggested the problem was a software problem involving the latches on rear passenger doors. READ MORE: Drivers issued £2,000 warning ahead of 30C heatwave Get breaking news on BirminghamLive WhatsApp, click the link to join The Mustang Mach-E is one of Ford's flagship electric cars with 197,432 models built between 2021 and 2025 thought to be impacted. The recall first came to light after Ford wrote to the NHTSA in Washington earlier this month. The NHTSA report stated: "Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2025 Mustang Mach E vehicles. "In the event of a low battery charge, the electronic door latches may remain locked once the driver or front passenger exits and shuts the door, possibly trapping someone who is unable to use the inside door release handles, such as a child in the back seat," it read. The NHTSA notice warns the consequence is an 'inability to enter or exit the vehicle in an emergency' which increases the risk of injury. At this stage, it is believed the issue is only a problem in the United States with no updates on whether UK cars have been affected. Dealers are expected to carry out repairs completely free of charge with any motorists affected likely to hear the news this week. The NHTSA form explains: 'Dealers will update the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and the Secondary On-Board Diagnostic Control Module C (SOBDMC) software, free of charge. 'Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk will be mailed June 23, 2025. Second letters will be mailed once the remedy is available, anticipated for September 29, 2025.' However, those with the keys to Mustang Mach-E models may be possible to identify some quick warning signs before an issue develops. Consumer Reports admits owners may notice the SYNC infotainment screen displaying a 'system off to save power' warning or a blank screen when the power is in the 'off' position. Experts stress that this could signal an imminent issue in a blow to owners. Another major warning flag is if occupants begin to notice that the inside release handle needs to be pulled further back than usual to open the door. has contacted Ford for further comment.

Is Ford Blue Fueling Model e's Future in the Changing Auto Landscape?

The automotive giant, Ford Motor Company F, is steadfast in its race toward relevance. As the company electrifies its product lineup through the Model e segment, its legacy Ford Blue segment is the cash engine behind it. The traditional internal combustion engine business has iconic models like the F-Series, Ranger, Maverick, Bronco, Explorer and Mustang under its name. In the last reported quarter, total wholesale volume in the Ford Blue segment decreased 6% year over year to 588,000 units but exceeded our expectation of 524,000 units. Ford Blue segment had logged revenues of $21 billion (with an EBIT of $96 million) compared to Ford Pro and Model e's revenues of $15.2 billion and $1.2 billion, respectively, in the first quarter of 2025. Model e remained a loss-making segment. As Model e's ambitions require capital-intensive investments, Ford primarily funds those with the profitability from its ICE vehicles. The massive Ford Blue segment continues to generate profits to balance off losses, maintain customer loyalty with legacy models, leverage dealer networks and lead through innovation in hybrid models. This would act as a strong foundation for Model e to build on its EV and software-led business. Ford expects to sell fewer ICE vehicles compared to last year. Additionally, a shift in product mix and foreign exchange headwinds will drag profits. Despite that, it is expected to sufficiently do well as a bridge to EVs' long-term growth strategy. General Motors Company (GM), Ford's closest rival, boasts of 17.2% U.S. auto market share. General Motors has lowered its full-year 2025 guidance, owing to an estimated $4-$5 million exposure to the impacts of auto tariffs. However, it is advancing well in its electrification journey. In the final quarter of 2024, General Motors' EV portfolio became 'variable profit positive' with plans to cut EV-related losses further this year. On the other hand, the company continues to invest heavily in expanding ICE production at the U.S. plants. Stellantis N.V. (STLA), another multinational automaker, has plans to reassess its capital spending strategies. The company has also brought down its EV production and is bringing its ICE back. Stellantis notices that U.S. markets are still demanding the traditional gas-powered muscle cars. EVs are gaining traction but will be put in the backseat for now. A slower shift to EVs will allow Stellantis to examine its infrastructure challenges. Shares of Ford have lost around 8.7% over the past year against the industry's growth of 14.9%.
