Sam's Club is locking in prices for 1,000 items this summer. Here's what to know.
Prices on more than 1,000 summer favorites at Sam's Club will stay the same through mid-July, followed by promotional deals through mid-August, the Walmart-owned warehouse retailer recently announced. 'From grilling gear and coolers to pool floats and fresh-cut fruit trays — members can count on consistent value for the season's must-haves,' the company said about the deals while keeping open the possibility of tariff-related price increases on small kitchen appliances. Here's what to know about Sam's Club's plans for the rest of summer. Sam's Club wants to make sure customers don't 'stress over shifting prices or weekly budgeting' Walmart said in its announcement that the company understands Sam's Club customers want to make memories, spend time with loved ones, and have pool days. 'Members want to soak up every moment, not stress over shifting prices or weekly budgeting,' the company wrote in the announcement. Items that are part of the lock-in value program are labeled on the Sam's Club website, and the company will start its July Instant Savings Event on July 23, including household items like dish detergent pods, food, and school supplies. Sam's Club customers are 'very conscious' about what they're buying, exec says Todd Sears, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Sam's Club, explained that customers are being 'very conscious and very choiceful about what they're purchasing' in an interview on June 11 When asked how Sam's Club is managing to keep prices low for customers while taking tariffs into account, Sears said this is something the company has done for a while. 'Most of our profit comes from membership income, in fact, 80% to 90%,' Sears said during the 2025 Evercore Consumer & Retail Conference earlier this month. 'We've always strived to keep prices low. And the way you do that is supply chain management, manufacturing out costs, looking at the best countries to source.' For example, on Mother's Day, Sam's Club kept the prices of flowers the same. Sears added that the 'best roses in the world' are imported from Ecuador and Colombia. Sam's Club and Walmart worked with growers in those countries and shifted packaging to the U.S. 'That allowed us enough flexibility to not raise prices,' Sears said. General Motors recalls over 62,000 vehicles. See impacted models.
General Motors has recalled over 62,000 vehicles due to a break pressure issue that could lead to fires. Impacted vehicles include the 2019 to 2024 Chevrolet Silverado models in 4500 HD, 5500 HD, and 6500 HD, General Motors told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in a memo on June 25 The recall includes 62,468 vehicles altogether, the company said. Here's what we know about the issue and what General Motors is doing to fix it. What's the issue with the vehicles? According to General Motors, the brake pressure sensor assembly on the recalled vehicles may leak brake fluid into the brake pressure switch, causing a short circuit. An electrical short in the brake pressure switch can overheat the circuit, increasing the risk of a fire while consumers are driving or parked. Most of the impacted vehicles are 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 5500 HD trucks made between January 20, 2023 and March 19, 2024. General Motors said about 10,097 of them run the risk of malfunctioning, per manufacturing records. 'Vehicles prior to 2019 model year use a different design and are not affected by this recall,' the company said. '2024 model year vehicles that were produced with a brake switch wire harness that includes a silicone sealant are not affected by this recall.' Altogether, the recall includes vehicles listed as: What should drivers do if they have the impacted vehicles? Dealers will replace the brake pressure switch wire harnesses for free, General Motors said. The company notified dealers on June 12. General Motors plans to mail letters to owners by July 28. Once the repair is available, the company will mail a second round of letters. Until the recall repair is complete, owners should park outside and away from buildings. Lidl is opening new stores this year: See list of locations Discount grocery store Lidl is opening new locations in some major cities on the East Coast, the company confirmed this month. By the end of 2025, the company will have opened stores in cities such as New York, Atlanta and D.C. metro regions, the company told USA TODAY on June 10. Foodies wanting to grab a Pollo Bowl, tacos, or other menu items from El Pollo Loco will soon have new restaurants in six states, including Colorado and Texas. The Mexican-style restaurant is based in California but plans to open at least 10 restaurants in 2025 in other states, an El Pollo Loco spokesperson confirmed on May 30. That includes the company's 500th restaurant, which is set for Colorado Springs, Colorado. According to the company, it's the largest system-wide expansion since 2022. According to the spokesperson, the new additions will be constructed based on the company's new store design, which was unveiled in October 2024 as El Pollo Loco neared its 50th anniversary. New restaurants will feature updated branding elements, upgraded furniture and lighting, energy-efficient hoods and HVAC. So far in 2025, El Pollo Loco has opened two new locations, both of them in California: one in Los Banos and another in Lompoc. However, the company spokesperson said most future locations opening in 2025 are set for markets outside of California, including Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, Texas, and Washington. The spokesperson said the company plans to open new locations in 2026 as well, including some in nontraditional locations like airports and university campuses. Customers can expect to see locations open in 2026 or later in states like California, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, Texas, Washington, and more.
