Egyptian League draw set for 27 July - Egyptian Football

Al-Ahram Weekly2 days ago
The draw for the new 2025/2026 season of the Egyptian League will take place on Sunday, 27 July, at the Egyptian National Teams Center in El-Sheikh Zayed City, the Egyptian Pro League (EPL) announced on Saturday.
The EPL announced early June that new campaign is scheduled to kick off on 8 August and finish in late May.
For the first time in its modern format, the league will feature 21 teams after the EPL scrapped relegation last season.
The enlarged field comprises last term's 18 top-flight sides plus three promoted clubs: Arab Contractors, Wadi Degla and Kahraba Ismailia.
The EPL revealed that the new season will follow a single-round format involving all 21 clubs, with the top seven teams will then advance to a second single round to compete for the title.

The remaining 14 teams will compete to avoid relegation, with four clubs set to drop to the second division.
Defending champions Ahly clinched their 45th league crown last season after a tough competition with Pyramids FC.

Zamalek sign Swedish-Palestinian winger Adam Kaied on free transfer - Egyptian Football

Zamalek have signed Swedish-Palestinian winger Adam Kaied on a free transfer, the Egyptian club announced on Sunday. The 23-year-old joins on a three-year deal after the expiration of his contract with Dutch side NAC Breda, where he spent the past two-and-a-half seasons. Kaied made 17 appearances in all competitions last season for Breda, scoring once. Born in Sweden to Palestinian parents, he represented Sweden at youth level before switching allegiance to Palestine, for whom he has earned two senior caps. He becomes Zamalek's fifth signing of the summer following the arrivals of goalkeeper El-Mahdi Soliman, Angolan winger Chico Banza, and Pharco FC attacking duo Amr Nasser and Ahmed Sherif. The club have also extended the contract of veteran playmaker Abdallah El-Saed for two more seasons and are close to signing NBE midfielder Ahmed Rabie. Zamalek are rebuilding their squad after a disappointing campaign last season, which saw them finish third in the Egyptian Premier League and exit the CAF Confederation Cup in the quarter-finals. The new league season is scheduled to begin in August. (For more sports news and updates, follow Ahram Online Sports on Twitter at @AO_Sports and on Facebook at AhramOnlineSports.) NBE Club sign winger Shalaby from Zamalek in swap deal - Egyptian Football

Egyptian Premier League side NBE Club have signed winger Mostafa Shalaby from Zamalek in a swap deal that will see midfielder Ahmed Rabie move in the opposite direction. As part of the agreement, NBE also acquired right back Sayed Abdallah from Zamalek, while the Cairo giants will gain the services of Rabie ahead of the new season. The 30-year-old joined Zamalek from Enppi in October 2022 but he failed to impress during his three seasons at the club. He made 102 appearances, scoring 15 goals and providing 15 assists. During his spell at Zamalek, Shalaby helped the team win the CAF Confederation Cup, the CAF Super Cup, and the Egyptian Cup. Tennis: Injured Draper takes time out as he targets US Open - Omni sports

Jack Draper has withdrawn from Masters 1000 tournaments in Toronto and Cincinnati after injuring his arm as he focuses on getting fit for next month's US Open. Wimbledon champion Jannik Sinner and 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic have also pulled out of the Canadian Open, which starts on July 27. The Cincinatti Open begins on August 7 and wraps up on August 18, six days before the start of the US Open, the final Grand Slam of the year. Both tournaments are Masters 1000 events, the level below the four majors. World number five Draper, who was knocked out in the second round at Wimbledon by Marin Cilic, said his injury was not serious and he would be fit for the US Open in New York. "After Wimbledon I picked up an injury in my left arm, nothing serious, but I have to make sure it recovers fully for the rest of the season," he said on X. "Unfortunately, I won't be able to compete in Toronto and Cincinnati... See you in NYC!"
