Egyptian League draw set for 27 July - Egyptian Football

The draw for the new 2025/2026 season of the Egyptian League will take place on Sunday, 27 July, at the Egyptian National Teams Center in El-Sheikh Zayed City, the Egyptian Pro League (EPL) announced on Saturday. The EPL announced early June that new campaign is scheduled to kick off on 8 August and finish in late May. For the first time in its modern format, the league will feature 21 teams after the EPL scrapped relegation last season. The enlarged field comprises last term's 18 top-flight sides plus three promoted clubs: Arab Contractors, Wadi Degla and Kahraba Ismailia. The EPL revealed that the new season will follow a single-round format involving all 21 clubs, with the top seven teams will then advance to a second single round to compete for the title. موسم 2025-2026 يبدأ من هنا ▶️ 27 يوليو موعد قرعة الموسم الجديد من #دوري_nile ⚽#رابطة_الأندية_المحترفة — رابطة الأندية المصرية المحترفة (@epl_eg) July 19, 2025 The remaining 14 teams will compete to avoid relegation, with four clubs set to drop to the second division. Ceramica Cleopatra sign Ahly duo Abdelfattah and El Debes - Egyptian Football

Ceramica Cleopatra have signed Ahly duo Khaled Abdelfattah and Karim El Debes during the ongoing summer transfer window, the Egyptian Premier League club announced on Sunday. 'Welcome our newly signed players Khaled Abdelfattah and Karim El Debes. They are stars who will shine in Ceramica Cleopatra's sky,' the club said in a statement on their official website. No financial details nor the length of the contracts were announced yet by the club. Reports suggest that El Debes joined Ceramica Cleopatra on a one-season loan deal. Left back El Debes, 22, joined Ahly's senior squad in July 2023 from his boyhood club Wadi Degla. He made 35 appearances for the Cairo giants, registering five assists. Right back Abdelfattah, 26, initially joined Ahly on a six-month loan from Smouha in January 2023. The move was made permanent later that July. He made 55 appearances for the club, contributing three assists. Local media reported that the move is part of a swap deal that will see defender Mohamed Shoukry join the Egyptian League title holders Ahly. 'Thanks to winger Mohamed Shoukry for his achievements with the team. We wish him the best of luck in his next chapter,' Ceramica Cleopatra said in a separate statement. However, Ahly have not yet announced the arrival of the 26-year old left back. Ceramica Cleopatra won the Egyptian League Cup for a third consecutive season last term, defeating NBE Club in the final. Former Pharaohs midfielder Mohamed Shawqi named ZED FC coach - Egyptian Football

Egyptian Premier League side ZED FC announced on Monday the appointment of former Pharaohs and Ahly midfielder Mohamed Shawqi as their new head coach. This will be Shawqi's first role as a head coach. The solid defensive midfielder, who retired in 2015, previously served as assistant coach under the Pharaohs' Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz and retained his position with successor Ihab Galal. He also acted as assistant to Ahly's interim coach Emad El-Nahass during the final phase of the season, helping the club secure the Egyptian League title. Shawqi replaces Hamada Sedki, who managed ZED FC in the second half of last season. Promoted to the top flight in the 2023/2024 season, ZED FC finished first in the relegation group with 32 points. Zamalek conclude league campaign with 2-0 win over Pharco - Egyptian Football

Third-placed Zamalek ended their disappointing Egyptian League season with a 2-0 victory over Pharco FC in the final matchday of the playoff stage at Cairo International Stadium on Saturday. Midfielders Mohamed Shehata and youngster Mohamed El-Sayed scored for Zamalek in each half, securing a morale-boosting result for the White Knights ahead of their Cup final on 5 June against Pyramids. Despite dominating possession in the first half, Zamalek struggled to create clear scoring opportunities. Shehata broke the deadlock in the 26th minute, latching onto a cross from left-back Ahmed Fatouh outside the box to unleash a stunning 25-meter right-footed strike into the bottom-left corner, marking his second league goal of the season. The Cairo-based side continued to face challenges in breaching Pharco's resolute defense, which remained organized in thwarting Zamalek's attempts to extend their lead. In the fifth minute of stoppage time, Shehata tested the woodwork with another long-range effort, striking the left post before the ball rebounded off goalkeeper Mohamed Nadim into his grasp. After the break, interim coach Ayman El-Ramady introduced Nasser Maher, Mohamed El-Sayed, and Mostafa El-Zenary for Nabil Emad, Abdallah El-Said, and Omar Gaber. Six minutes into the second half, right-winger Ahmed 'Esho' Abdel-Rahman struck the crossbar with a close-range left-footed shot. El-Ramady's 58th-minute substitution of veteran skipper Mahmoud 'Shikabala' Abdel-Razek proved decisive, as the Zamalek star delivered a precise cross from the left for El-Sayed to tap home from close range. Pharco FC's players appealed for a penalty four minutes later when striker Ahmed Sherif fell in the box, but the referee upheld the decision to continue play following a VAR review. Zamalek dominated the remainder of the match but failed to capitalize on further chances. The result lifted Zamalek to 47 points, finishing 11 points behind league champions Ahly and nine adrift of second-placed Pyramids FC, while Pharco FC retained seventh spot with 32 points. Zamalek now shift focus to their Egypt Cup final showdown against Pyramids FC on Thursday, aiming to secure silverware after a frustrating campaign.
