NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS and IIJ Unveil Integrated OT Security Management Solution for Cyber-Physical Systems

Yahoo5 days ago
TOKYO, July 9, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS, Inc. (Formerly NTT Communications Corporation) and Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ) today announced an integrated security offering for cyber-physical systems (CPS).
Expanded remote operation can expose control networks and introduce risks, but many cyber-physical systems (CPS) and operational technology (OT) security administrators still lack accurate asset inventories and real-time anomaly detection needed to govern access. The new offering combines solutions from OsecT and Safous in a convenient, pre-installed hardware appliance to deliver passive traffic inspection, instant threat alerts, and strictly managed remote access.
Once installed, Safous establishes encrypted least-privilege tunnels for engineers, integrators, or vendors, enforces fine-grained policies, safeguards shared credentials, supports Just-in-Time approvals, and records every session.
Simultaneously, OsecT taps mirrored OT traffic, maps every device, and flags unauthorized communication, unknown endpoints, or abnormal protocols. As a result, security and operations teams can review IDS alerts alongside access logs to accelerate investigation and response.
Key Features
OT-Aware IDS: OsecT analyses on-prem OT traffic, inventories devices, and issues live alerts on suspicious activity.
Secure Privileged Remote Access: Safous restricts users to approved OT applications via a secure portal with credential vaulting, approval workflows, and full session recording.
Rapid Deployment: Software installs quickly in existing OT environments, reducing integration effort and enabling a faster time to value.
Sales are scheduled to start on September 1, 2025 in Japan and will be handled exclusively by NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS ASEAN availability to support regional smart manufacturing and industrial cybersecurity initiatives is expected in 2026. NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS and IIJ will continue leveraging their combined network and cloud expertise to safeguard the next generation of cyber-physical systems worldwide.

Strategy, Metaplanet and Others Sit on Billions in Bitcoin Gains — and They're Not Selling

With bitcoin (BTC) trading at a record high above $117,000, some of its largest institutional holders are sitting on massive gains — and show no sign of planning to cash out. Strategy (MSTR), the software company turned bitcoin holding giant, owns nearly 600,000 BTC, according to data, and has made an estimated $28 billion in unrealized profit at $117,464 price, data from Strategy Tracker shows. The company has spent more than $42 billion accumulating its stash, which makes it the third-largest bitcoin holder. Only the pseudonymous bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto and asset manager BlackRock hold more. However, BlackRock holds bitcoin on behalf of investors in its iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), which launched in January last year. Strategy, by contrast, holds the tokens on its balance sheet. The firm's co-founder and executive chairman, Michael Saylor, has repeatedly said that he has no intention of ever selling. In fact, during BTC's all-time high run yesterday, he gloated, "The halls of eternity echo with the cries of those who sold their Bitcoin," in an X post. And who can blame him? After all, his company's BTC holdings far outpace those of every publicly traded company. Other corporate bitcoin holders are also seeing their balances swell. Japanese firm Metaplanet (3350), which began aggressively accumulating BTC in 2024, now owns 15,555 coins worth roughly $1.83 billion. That translates to an unrealized profit of $284 million. Meanwhile, El Salvador, the first nation to adopt bitcoin as legal tender, holds 6,234 BTC worth nearly $733 million at current prices. Its bitcoin bet has turned into a $232 million paper gain, a significant reversal from the losses it faced during the 2022 bear market. Smaller firms are riding the rally too. Semler Scientific (SMLR), which followed Strategy's treasury strategy last year, owns 4,636 BTC and sits on $160 million in unrealized gains. France's Blockchain Group (ALTBG) holds 900 BTC, and still has $30.5 million in gains on paper. While these companies could lock in massive profits by selling, most haven't budged. In the bitcoin community, many of these holders are known as 'maxis' — short for maximalists — who believe in holding the asset indefinitely. Some may take profits over time, but others, like Saylor, have stated publicly they plan to hold forever.

Xi Wants to End China's Price Wars. But How?

Inside China, price wars are far more dangerous than US tariffs. As President Xi Jinping starts to address the country's ultra-competitive business culture, the trillion-dollar question is how — and whether he can succeed. Race-to-the-bottom mentality is everywhere. The world's biggest EV maker BYD Co. slashed prices by as much as 34% in May, exacerbating a decline in auto prices that began in late 2022. A turf war in the food-delivery market has e-commerce giants Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. and Inc. offering splashy discounts to take on sector leader Meituan. Hong Kong's stock market, where these blue chips are listed, has lost momentum as a result.

The New Mazda CX-5 Hybrid Was Delayed to Avoid a Repeat of the CX-50

The latest car news, reviews, and features. 2026 marks the first model year for a new generation of the Mazda CX-5, but the redesigned crossover's most noteworthy new offering is still in development. Unlike the current CX-5, which is available in both naturally aspirated and turbocharged variants, the new car will launch with only the former; a 187-horsepower, 2.5-liter unit that carries over from the 2025. Extra oomph this time around will come in the form of a hybrid powertrain that we won't see for at least another year. Why? Simply put, it's not ready yet. 'The Skyactiv Z with our in-house Mazda hybrid development? Well, quite frankly, the technology is still in development and our hope is really to develop a hybrid solution that reflects our driving DNA as much as possible,' said Stefan Meisterfeld, Mazda's North American Vice President for Strategic Planning, in an interview with The Drive . Mazda sells the CX-5's sibling, the CX-50, with a Toyota-sourced hybrid system, which, while functional, falls flat in terms of driving engagement. Our reviewer called the powertrain 'so coarse, and so unenjoyable to use' that it actually bummed him out to drive it. He did get within 1 mpg of Mazda's claimed fuel economy figure, but at the end of the day, it felt 'like something Mazda is forced to make, rather than something it wants to make.' This time, Mazda wants to imbue the system with the sort of sporting character that its buyers expect. The trick, of course, is not compromising its efficiency in the process. 'It should really be something that on the one hand is very efficient, but on the other hand it's also extremely fun to drive,' Meisterfeld added. You'll just have to wait for it. The CX-5 is due to hit showrooms early next year as a 2026; the hybrid isn't due to land until the 2027 model year. 'We will launch with this SkyActiv-G engine and this is 90% of our customer base. I think that's an important reference here. So we are quite confident that this will be a great engine for the first year,' said Meisterfeld. And what about a plugin? 'At the moment, we are only talking about Skyactiv G and the hybrid system, not a plug-in hybrid system yet,' he said. Hmm. Yet . Got a tip? Send it our way at tips@
