Siddhant Chaturvedi Says 'Ananya Panday Was Always An Actress' After Anurag Kashyap's Remark On Her Growth

News184 days ago
Siddhant Chaturvedi says Ananya Panday's growth had nothing to do with his 'struggle' comment.
Actor Siddhant Chaturvedi has broken his silence on filmmaker Anurag Kashyap's recent remark suggesting that actress Ananya Panday matured as a performer following the much-discussed 2020 'struggle" comment that reignited the nepotism debate.
In an interview with ETimes, Siddhant downplayed any personal credit for Ananya's evolution, emphasizing her own talent and perseverance. 'I don't think it's my contribution. Independently, she is a very strong girl, very, very talented, and a nice person to be with," he said.
The two actors have previously shared screen space in Gehraiyaan and Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, both of which sparked conversations around their chemistry and onscreen compatibility. Reflecting on their collaborations, Siddhant said, 'I have done two films with her and I look forward to doing more. I don't think your growth happens because of anyone. Either you are an actor, or you are not. She was always an actress. It's just that she got those opportunities and she excelled."
He added warmly, 'Whenever we have collaborated, it has worked. I think we are each other's lucky charm."
Siddhant's response comes after Kashyap recently observed that Ananya had displayed remarkable growth and self-awareness post the backlash from the 2020 roundtable discussion, where Siddhant's pointed remark had gone viral: 'Jahaan humare sapne poore hote hain, wahi inka struggle shuru hota hai" (Their struggles begin where our dreams come true).
The comment, aimed at the privilege gap between outsiders and star kids in the industry, became a defining moment in the ongoing nepotism discourse in Bollywood.
Meanwhile, Siddhant is gearing up for the release of Dhadak 2, the much-anticipated follow-up to the 2018 romantic drama Dhadak. Directed by Shazia Iqbal and backed by Dharma Productions, the sequel stars Siddhant alongside Animal breakout star Triptii Dimri. Unlike the first film, which was an adaptation of Sairat, Dhadak 2 promises a fresh storyline rooted in a different socio-political backdrop, exploring themes of love, class divide, and rebellion.
Dhadak 2 is slated to hit theatres on August 1.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga Confirms Prabhas, Triptii Dimri's Spirit Begins Filming This September

Last Updated: Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga confirms Prabhas, Triptii Dimri's Spirit starts filming in September with back-to-back schedules. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has officially confirmed that his much-anticipated film Spirit, starring Prabhas and Triptii Dimri, will begin shooting in September 2025. The announcement came during a recent chat with Vijay Deverakonda and filmmaker Gowtam Tinnanuri on the Sithara Entertainments YouTube channel. Sandeep revealed that Spirit will have back-to-back schedules and a non-stop shooting plan once it hits the floors. Spirit made headlines earlier this year when Deepika Padukone exited the project following disagreements over working hours and compensation. Reports suggested that Deepika was advocating for a strict eight-hour workday, a demand that could not be accommodated by the production team. Following her exit, Triptii Dimri was roped in to play the female lead opposite Prabhas. According to reports by Rangasthalam, Sandeep has already completed the musical compositions for Spirit in collaboration with composer Harshavardhan Rameshwar. Backed by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures, Spirit is one of the most awaited action dramas in Indian cinema and is expected to hit theatres in 2027. The film reportedly presents Prabhas in a never-seen-before avatar, adding to fans' excitement. Earlier, a source close to the project revealed, 'Sandeep Reddy Vanga wants to shoot for Spirit in a certain way and has requested Prabhas to acquire a lean physique. The idea is to ensure most stunts are performed by Prabhas himself. The Rebel Star is excited about the challenge and is working closely with Sandeep to mold himself into the character." After wrapping up Spirit, Sandeep will begin scripting Animal Park, the much-anticipated sequel to his 2023 blockbuster Animal. With high expectations riding on Spirit, fans are eagerly awaiting to see what cinematic magic Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Prabhas will bring to the screen. Saiyaara Box Office Day 8: Ahaan Panday Film Crosses Rs 190 Crore, Beats Housefull 5

Last Updated: Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's Saiyaara crosses Rs 190 crore in just 8 days, beating Housefull 5 and emerging a massive blockbuster. Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda have become the talk of the town with their debut film Saiyaara, which is smashing records at the box office. According to the latest update by Sacnilk, the romantic drama has now crossed Rs 190 crore in just 8 days, making it one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. On its second Friday, Saiyaara added Rs 17.50 crore to its tally, pushing the total box office collection to Rs 190 crore. The film had a record-breaking opening with Rs 21.5 crore on day one and saw its highest single-day figure on Sunday at Rs 35.75 crore. Despite being a weekday release, Saiyaara managed to maintain a strong grip at the box office throughout the week, ending its first week at a massive Rs 172.75 crore. The Ahaan Panday-Aneet Padda starrer is now outperforming several Bollywood biggies. With its latest collection, Saiyaara has surpassed the lifetime business of Sikandar, Sitaare Zameen Par, and Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5, which ended its run at Rs 183.3 crore. With no major releases this Friday—Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardaar 2 has been postponed to August 1—Saiyaara is expected to continue its blockbuster run through its second weekend as well. Directed by Shiv Rawail and produced by Yash Raj Films' CEO Akshaye Widhani, Saiyaara revolves around the love story of Krish Kapoor, an aspiring musician played by Ahaan Panday, and Vaani Batra, portrayed by Aneet Padda. The film explores their romance and heartbreak, especially after a dramatic twist forces Vaani to walk away from Krish. Critics and audiences alike have praised the film's fresh storytelling, the sizzling chemistry between the leads, and its chartbuster music, which has become a viral sensation. With glowing word-of-mouth and no competition in theatres, Saiyaara is well on its way to entering the Rs 200 crore club soon.
