Belinda Carlisle announces release of new studio album
Carlisle, 66, is best known for her hit song Heaven Is A Place On Earth and for being the former frontwoman in the pop-rock group The Go-Go's.
Speaking about the new album, the singer said: 'I was born and raised in California at a time when music was an important part of Californian culture.
'I lived and breathed music, it was my great escape – a refuge of fantasy and imagination.
'Every day after school and when it was summer vacation, I would listen and sing along to the music on the radio for the entire day. Always fantasising about being a singer myself, one day.'
The album will be released ahead of her Heavenly Hits UK tour and includes her lead single, a rework of The Hollies hit track The Air That I Breathe.
The singer added: 'This collection of songs is the best representation of what I loved back then that I could think of – listening to it brings back so many memories of a time and a California that doesn't really exist anymore.

'That's not meant to sound like a bad thing, it's just different – there was an innocence and energy back then that was unique and magical. Things I doubt will ever be felt in quite the same way again. Here's to the California of my dreams.'
Prior to her solo career, Carlisle was part of the 70s rock band The Go-Go's, who were best known for their songs We Got The Beat and Our Lips Are Sealed.
The band split in 1985 and a year later Carlisle released her debut solo album, Belinda, followed by her top 10 UK albums Heaven On Earth, Runaway Horses, and Real.
The singer is due to set off on her UK tour in September with performances scheduled in London, Edinburgh and Manchester.
Once Upon A Time In California is due to be released on August 29.

Film-makers have praised the bravery of the trans community in Cumbria for sharing their experiences in a new documentary.I ME US chronicles the stories of those living in the county who are transgender, non-binary or gender who features in the film, which is being screened locally in July and August, described how his family struggled with his decision to transition only for his brother to then offer him some shirts in support."If just one person can see the film and feel more comfortable, or happy in themselves, then I've done enough," he said. 'Emotional film' Director Paddy Sweeney said those who took part had been brave to tell their stories on camera so said they had filmed with someone who then called to drop out of the project around the time of President Trump's Sweeney said the participant was worried about "having their face out there", and the repercussions it may have for his film is part of a heritage lottery-funded project, which was commissioned by Pride in North Cumbria (PINC) LGBT+ is being screened for free in venues across Cumbria over July and August, including Rheged cinema in Penrith and Tullie in and project manager at PINC, Pam Eland, said they wanted to take a snapshot of community "to get their voices heard out there".She added they were looking to organise showings of the "emotional" film worldwide. Serrano - who has a long association with the Californian - insisted that Bazzel worked 'with her and only her' according to a number of well-placed sources. 'Kerry got the call and he's flying out to the States," one boxing insider told SportsBoom. "Ellie was due to use the same person to deal with any cuts as Amanda. But that's not happening, because she (Serrano) insisted that he only worked with her on the show. She didn't want him doing two corners. 'It wouldn't have made any difference to his work, and it all seems a bit silly to be honest. It's perfectly normal for people to double up at events like this and, usually, there's only an issue if the same cutman or woman works with two people who are up against each other. The researchers listened to audio clips of 50 celebrities talking and compared that to what scientists say is the most attractive pitch (96 Hz for men and 260-280 Hz for women, levels at which we "hear" warmth, depth and openness to being approached). Additionally, they surveyed people about their personal level of liking or disliking how an accent sounds. The report revealed that Americans in general prefer a British accent but when it comes to home territory, we prefer a Cajun accent from the South first, followed closely by a Long Island accent. The Cajun accent is what we often hear in Louisiana, an accent influenced by both French and Spanish speakers (think of New Orleans history), and if you're having trouble imagining what it sounds like, put on The Princess and the Frog movie and enjoy this smooth linguistic pattern.
