TTD trust Board decides to increase green cover in Tirumala to 80%, improve infrastructure

Briefing the media, Mr. Syamala Rao said that in line with the directives of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Trust Board has decided to launch an ambitious afforestation programme with the target of increasing Tirumala's green cover from 68.14% to 80%. The Forest Department will spearhead the initiative for which over ₹4 crore would be allocated in phases over the next three years.
The TTD also sanctioned an additional ₹71 crore per annum to Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), supplementing the existing ₹60 crore support. Plans are afoot to recruit doctors, nurses, and the required paramedical staff and complete the buildings of the Oncology Wing and Sri Padmavati Children's Hospital within a stipulated time. Around 85% of these projects have been completed.
Srivari Vaidya Seva
To bolster healthcare services, the temple Trust Board has approved a proposal to launch 'Srivari Vaidya Seva', a volunteer programme as part of which medical professionals would be roped in to offer services to the needy.
As part of reinforcing the security arrangements and protecting the temple town from aerial threats, it was resolved to espouse anti-drone technology.
In a strategic move, the Trust Board approved inviting technical and financial proposals from architectural consultants to develop a comprehensive master plan for developing temples at Tiruchanoor, Amaravati, Narayanavanam, Kapilatheertham, Nagalapuram, and Vontimitta.
It resolved to rename a couple of rest houses on its own, with donors failing to respond to its request to provide names after the deities in line with its spiritual heritage.
New framework for licensing canteens
To ensure that the devotees receive nutritious and hygienic food, it was resolved to adopt a new framework for licensing Big Canteens and Janatha Canteens existing atop the hill town.
Other key decisions include developing the Sridevi and Bhudevi Sameta Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple at Anantavaram in Amaravati and initiating legal proceedings against the makers of the Tamil film DD Next Level for hurting the sentiments of the multitude of devotees by remixing the popular 'Govinda Namavali' of Lord Venkateswara.

TTD moves to cut surgery wait time at BIRRD hospital
Tirupati: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has intensified efforts to reduce the waiting time for surgeries at the renowned hospital 'Balaji Institute of Surgery, Research and Rehabilitation for the Disabled (BIRRD)' in Tirupati. TTD chairman BR Naidu, along with Executive Officer J Syamala Rao, conducted a detailed review of various administrative aspects of BIRRD on Wednesday. On this occasion, Naidu remarked that BIRRD had earned a global reputation over the years but had seen a decline in performance in recent times. He called for concerted efforts to bring the hospital back to its past prominence. He emphasised that priority should be given to providing quality medical services to farmers and the economically weaker sections from rural areas. To reduce the waiting period for surgeries, particularly for joint replacements, the chairman stressed the need to enhance infrastructure and ensure the availability of essential resources including specialist doctors, support staff, medicines, and surgical equipment. Naidu also suggested that the imported equipment used in procedures such as knee replacements should be of high quality and procured at prices aligned with Indian market standards. Executive officer Syamala Rao said that just as the 'Aapanna Hrudaya Scheme' has enabled donors to support paediatric heart surgeries at Sri Padmavathi Children's Heart Centre, a similar initiative should be explored at BIRRD. He directed the JEO, financial advisor and chief accounts officer, and the BIRRD director to jointly prepare a report on mobilising donor contributions to support surgeries for the underprivileged. He also underscored the importance of making the hospital accessible to all and advised that advanced medical equipment be procured in line with regulatory norms. BIRRD director Dr G Jagadeesh explained that while surgeries for differently-abled children are being performed promptly, joint replacement procedures currently involve a waiting period of nearly one year. He gave a comprehensive presentation outlining the initiatives and progress made by the hospital since its inception. TTD Board Members Nannapaneni Sadasiva Rao, T Janaki Devi, Dr Adit Desai, JEO V Veerabrahmam, FA & CAO O Balaji, and other officials took part in the meeting.

TTD inaugurates advanced lab to test food quality, ghee in-house
Last Updated: Tirupati, Jul 22 (PTI) Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) chairman BR Naidu on Tuesday inaugurated a food quality testing laboratory in Tirumala, which will test ghee and prasadam, officials said. The chairman noted that samples, which had to be sent to other states for testing earlier can now be tested directly in Tirumala itself with state-of-the-art equipment, a release said. According to TTD executive officer J Syamala Rao, earlier there was no facility to test the quality of ghee in Tirumala and now for the first time equipment like GC (Gas Chromatograph) and HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatograph) have been installed. He noted that this equipment has the ability to instantly analyze adulteration and quality percentage of ghee. Equipment worth Rs 75 lakh was donated by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) of Gujarat, said Rao. Further, he observed that lab staff and potu (kitchen) workers have undergone special training at Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) in Mysore.
