Barcelona star ruled out of Spain clash through injury
The player in question? Ferran Torres.
Frontman Ferran is for his part fresh off another stellar outing this past weekend.
Introduced off the bench with Barcelona in desperate search of goals in a La Liga meeting with Atlético Madrid, the former Manchester City man provided precisely that.
En route to a comeback 4-2 triumph for the Blaugrana, Ferran notched a fine brace.
The 25-year-old was therefore expected to feature in at least some capacity, when Spain lock horns with The Netherlands in the Nations League later this evening.
As much, however, will not be the case.
Speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference, La Roja boss Luis de la Fuente confirmed that Ferran has been ruled out on Thursday, owing to a fitness issue.
The hope is that the versatile attacker will be back fit and firing in time to feature in the return leg on Sunday.

Manchester City Are Keeping A Keen Eye On This Barcelona Midfielder: Should Pep Go For Him?
In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Manchester City are keeping a keen eye on Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez. It has been stated that the Mancunian club are eager to get a deal done for the Spanish talent this summer. Lopez's Impressive Run Of Form In Spanish Football Lopez had an impressive campaign at the Catalan club after he produced a run of decent displays for them in La Liga. The Spanish attacker found the back of the net eight times and earned ten assists in 46 matches for Barca last season in multiple competitions. The 22-year-old performed well to average 2.95 shots per 90 minutes in La Liga. He kept 36.6% of his attempts on target. Lopez was accurate when distributing the ball in the final third, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 81.8% in the Spanish top tier (stats via His current contract at the Nou Camp will expire in the summer of 2029. Therefore, Man City would have to make a big offer if they are serious about signing Lopez this off-season. (Photo by Florencia) Should Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola Go For Lopez? Lopez is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He puts his foot through the ball when needed and is proficient at playing his way out from the back. The Spanish talent is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also fill in as a left-sided wide player or as a box-to-box midfielder if asked to do so. We can expect Lopez to add more energy and dynamism to Man City boss Pep Guardiola's attack. He has what it takes to compete for a regular first-team spot at the Etihad Stadium next season. At 22, Lopez has the potential to be a future star in European football. Therefore, it makes sense for the Mancunian giants to go for a player of his quality this summer. However, he might need some time to adjust to the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if Man City can devise a way to bring him on board.

Hansi Flick reacts to Manchester United interest in Barcelona star
Barcelona need to make sales to continue generating funds that will help them to return to La Liga's 1:1 rule by the end of the summer, although it has been difficult to move on the likes of Marc-Andre Ter Stegen and Andreas Christensen. Other players are noted as possible departees, with one of them being Fermin Lopez. The arrival of Marcus Rashford, which will see Raphinha used more centrally next season, means that Fermin is likely to see less action, given that he also has Dani Olmo ahead of him in the pecking order. This has led to suggestions that Barcelona could entertain offers for Fermin, with a minimum asking price of €70m having been set. And according to recent reports, Manchester United are prepared to pay this for the 22-year-old. Image via Josep Lago/AFP Hansi Flick puts his foot down amid Man United interest But despite this, it would be a surprise to see Fermin leave Barcelona this summer. As reported by MD, head coach Hansi Flick has made it clear that he wants the young midfielder to remain at the club. The report has also stated that Flick was made aware of previous reports of Fermin's possible departure, at which point he made it clear to the player himself that he wants him to stay. And it was during this meeting that the Man United target admitted that he has no plans nor desire to depart. Fermin has been very impressive since breaking into the Barcelona first team two summers ago, and given his age, he is one of several players that will be trusted to lead the squad for many years to come. It is no surprise that Flick wants him to stay, even if there is a chance that he does not play all too often during the upcoming 2025-26 season.

Wolves Interested in ‘Hijacking' Deal for La Liga Defender
Wolves Weigh Up Late Move for Juanlu Sanchez Right-Back Search Intensifies Wolverhampton Wanderers have added a new name to their summer shortlist, with Sevilla right-back Juanlu Sanchez emerging as a serious option. According to Sky Sports News, 'Wolves are considering a move to hijack Napoli's bid for Sevilla right-back Juanlu Sanchez.' The 21-year-old Spain U21 international has attracted growing interest following a standout campaign in La Liga. Napoli have been in discussions with Sevilla for several weeks and have already agreed personal terms with the player's representatives. Yet, as negotiations between the clubs drag on, Wolves are now exploring the conditions of a possible deal. Despite no formal contact between the clubs as of yet, Sky Sports reports that 'the Premier League side [is] exploring the conditions of a possible deal through intermediaries.' Photo: IMAGO Emerging Profile and Key Attributes Sanchez's versatility and maturity at such a young age have earned him admirers across Europe. Deployed primarily as a right-back, he is equally comfortable as a wing-back in systems that require overlapping runs and tactical awareness. His crossing ability and positional intelligence have grown significantly under the guidance of Sevilla's coaching staff. Still early in his career, Sanchez has already featured for Spain at U21 level, reinforcing his status as one of the country's emerging talents. Wolves' recruitment strategy underlines a continued focus on developing young, high-potential players, and Sanchez would be a natural fit. Napoli Delay Creates Opportunity Napoli have been working on the transfer for nearly a month. While they have reached agreement with the player's camp, talks with Sevilla have been slower than expected. This has opened a window of opportunity for other clubs to intervene. Wolves have a track record of pouncing when deals stall elsewhere. Though this remains an exploratory move at this stage, the interest is clearly genuine. Sanchez is 'one of a number of targets for the Premier League club,' according to Sky Sports News, but the fact that Wolves are actively investigating the conditions speaks to their intent. With the new Premier League season fast approaching, securing additional depth at right-back remains a priority for Vítor Pereira's side. Photo: IMAGO Fit Within Wolves' Tactical Setup Sanchez's attacking instincts and ability to play higher up the pitch align well with Wolves' ambitions to play more proactive, fluid football. The club needs a long-term solution who can adapt quickly to English football. Sanchez's La Liga pedigree and international experience offer a solid foundation, while his technical skillset suits the demands of the Premier League. The timing could be ideal, especially with Napoli yet to finalise a deal. Our View – EPL Index Analysis For Wolves fans, this kind of link is exactly what you want to see in the transfer window. Juanlu Sanchez might not be a household name in England yet, but anyone watching La Liga last season knows how capable he is. Quick, intelligent, confident in possession, he has the profile that suits the modern Premier League right-back. Sanchez coming in would signal long-term planning, not just a quick fix. At 21, there is still plenty of growth ahead, but he already looks composed and switched on defensively, with the confidence to support attacks. The fact that Wolves are using intermediaries shows the club are being strategic. No rush, no panic, just smart preparation in case Napoli fail to close the deal. That is the sort of groundwork Wolves need to do more of, especially when trying to unearth talent before it becomes too expensive. Sanchez would be welcomed at Molineux. He brings energy, intelligence, and European experience. If Wolves can step in and secure the deal, it might prove to be one of the most important signings of the summer.
