Peter Murphy of Bauhaus has teamed up with Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor for the new song 'Swoon.'
The track hails from Murphy's forthcoming solo album Silver Shade and pairs a dance-punk beat with Murphy's ominous vocals. The throwback '80s production befits both the goth-rock pioneer and his collaborator, Reznor, who provides a 'welcome vibe,' as Murphy put it.

'I am both in the state of swoon as are my audience when witnessing my live performance,' said Murphy in a statement. 'Trent Reznor cordially accepted my invitation to appear on the song, adding a welcome vibe on the second verse, as well as throughout the entire song in the form of backing vocalizing.'
Silver Shade is due out May 9th via Metropolis Entertainment and was produced by Youth (aka Martin Glover) of Killing Joke. Further details have yet to be released, though Murphy called the record 'as powerful as any of my work to date.' Another recent collab released last year, 'Let the Flowers Grow' featuring Boy George, is a potential inclusion on the LP.
As for Murphy and Reznor, the connection goes back to NIN's early days, when Reznor and company opened for Murphy's Deep tour in 1990.
Meanwhile, Nine Inch Nails recently announced their 'Peel It Back World Tour,' kicking off with a UK/European leg in June, followed by a North American leg in August. Pick up tickets here.

Foo Fighters recruit new drummer

Foo Fighters have found their next drummer. The rock band has tapped Ilan Rubin for the gig, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It's unclear whether Rubin joins Foo Fighters as a full-time member or as a touring drummer for the band. Rubin is best known for his work with Nine Inch Nails, where he's served as the band's touring drummer since 2009. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with the band in 2020, becoming the youngest-ever inductee at the time, at 32 years old. According to the outlet, Rubin had committed to Nine Inch Nails through this year, but informed frontman Trent Reznor last week that he had "accepted a job with another band". He's also the drummer for Angels & Airwaves. The move comes just over two months after Foo Fighters parted ways with drummer Josh Freese, who joined the group in 2023 as successor to the late Taylor Hawkins, who died in 2022. Notably, as Rubin joins the Foos, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Freese will return to Nine Inch Nails, according to a rep for the band. The band has subsequently shared a picture of Freese and tagged the drummer in an Instagram story, writing, "Let's f**king go."
