College basketball player Gregg Glenn III dead at 22 after 'tragic accident'
The announcement was made on Monday about the player who started all 34 games for his team last season.
'It is with profound sadness that I reach out to you today,' the school's Vice President, Sarah Cunningham, wrote in a letter.
'We have lost a cherished member of our university community, Gregg Glenn III, who died in a tragic accident this weekend. He was a talented student-athlete who enriched our lives with his spirit, dedication, and passion for both sports and academics.
'Gregg was an outstanding athlete on our men's basketball team and an individual who brought joy and light to those around him. His commitment to excellence inspired many of us.'
There has not yet been any further announcement surrounding the circumstances of his death.
Glenn had transferred to the school from the University of Michigan after his freshman year.
'The oldest of his siblings, Gregg was a Health & Wellness major from Pompano Beach, Florida.
'Known for his infectious personality, positive energy, and kindness, he brightened every room he entered. Well known in the South Florida area for his basketball prowess, he will be greatly missed by many.'

August 2 - Nick Pivetta allowed just one hit in seven innings and Jackson Merrill capped a four-run fifth inning with a two-run single as the San Diego Padres beat the visiting St. Louis Cardinals 4-1 for their sixth straight win Friday night. Pivetta (11-3) improved to 7-0 at Petco Park this season, walking none and striking out five as he lowered his earned run average to 2.73. New acquisition Mason Miller pitched a scoreless eighth and MLB saves leader Robert Suarez worked the ninth for his 31st save in 35 chances. Matthew Liberatore (6-9) matched Pivetta pitch-for-pitch for four innings and even got a 1-0 lead when Willson Contreras cracked his 15th homer of the year to start the top of the fifth. Contreras jumped on a fastball down the middle and launched it an estimated 398 feet to the seats in left-center. But San Diego took advantage of shaky defense to crack the code in its half of the fifth. After Jake Cronenworth walked with one out, Jose Iglesias' slow roller to third became two errors and a run. Nolan Gorman's wild throw to first was worth two bases and Contreras' inaccurate heave to third cashed Cronenworth in. Elias Diaz looped an RBI single to left-center for the go-ahead run. Fernando Tatis Jr. worked a walk and Luis Arraez singled to fill the bases. Reliever Matt Svanson fanned Manny Machado but Merrill laced a cutter into center field that scored Diaz and Tatis. Liberatore was charged with all four runs, one earned, on four hits and two walks in 4 1/3 innings. He fanned one. St. Louis welcomed Miller to his new team with consecutive singles by Masyn Winn and Nolan Gorman. But Miller whiffed Jordan Walker with a 101 mph fastball and then induced a double play ball off Yohel Pozo's bat. Ramon Laureano and Ryan O'Hearn, who were also acquired on a busy Thursday by the Padres, debuted on Friday. Laureano played in left field and went 0-for-4, while O'Hearn pinch-hit in the sixth. Superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons requested a trade on Friday, declaring on social media that 'I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys.' Parsons, 26, has not been taking part in on-field activities at training camp while seeking a long-term extension that would make him one of the league's highest-paid defensive players. The Athletic reported earlier Friday that the team and the two-time All-Pro are still 'far apart' with their contract numbers. The Parsons' camp instead portrayed the meetings as talks and not negotiations, and that the Cowboys have declined to negotiate with his agent because team officials believed an agreement already was in place. Speaking in April at the NFL's annual league meeting, Jones acknowledged his conversation with Parsons, saying the two spoke for 'five or six hours' to work out a long-term extension. 'Most of the issues we are in agreement on. We discussed it all,' Jones said April 1. 'But we obviously don't have an agreement relative to the new contract.' The Dallas Morning News reported in March that Parsons was seeking a record- setting $200m contract extension that would make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL. Parsons recorded 12 sacks, 43 tackles and two forced fumbles in 13 games (all starts) last season. A Pro Bowl selection in each of his first four seasons in the league, Parsons has totaled 256 tackles (63 for loss), 112 quarterback hits, 52.5 sacks, nine forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries in 63 career games (all starts).
