Man injured by wild animal, suspected to be Asian golden cat, in Kuala Pilah
Negeri Sembilan Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) director Faizal Izham Pikri said the department received a report on the incident at 9 pm and the victim is currently being treated at Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital.
Perhilitan officers visited the 56-year-old victim, who suffered injuries to his head, hands and legs.
'The incident reportedly occurred early Saturday morning near the victim's goat pen located behind his house. Based on our investigation, we suspect the wild animal involved is an Asian golden cat,' he said in a statement today.
Faizal said the department has provided the victim with an application form for the Wild Animal Attack Aid Fund to help ease the cost of medical treatment.
The incident site is located near the Berembun Forest Reserve in Kuala Pilah. Camera traps will be installed in the area to detect the animal, he added. — Bernama

MELAKA, July 7 — A Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) volunteer was killed when the motorcycle he was riding was involved in a collision with a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) on Lebuh Ayer Keroh, near the Dusun Dato' Murad Prison yesterday. Melaka Tengah police chief ACP Christopher Patit said in the accident at about 12.45pm, the victim, Akmal Aniq Mohamed Ariff, 22, died while undergoing treatment at the Melaka Hospital for internal injuries. 'According to initial investigations, the accident occurred when a 41-year-old man driving a Toyota Innova MPV from the direction of Ayer Keroh to the Muzaffar Shah traffic lights collided with the victim's motorcycle on a slip road. 'The victim, an Ayer Keroh APM volunteer, with an address in Taman Semabok Perdana, was confirmed dead at about 3.40pm at the Melaka Hospital,' he said in a statement here last night. He added that the MPV was taken to a Puspakom computerised vehicle inspection centre for checks, while the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (for reckless driving). — Bernama

Tamparuli woman found murdered with neck and head injuries, Sabah cops arrest suspect with mental health history
TUARAN, July 7 — A woman was found dead with multiple injuries to her neck, head and both eyes, believed to be the victim of a fatal assault with a sharp weapon at a house in Kampung Tenghilan, Tamparuli, on Friday. Tuaran district police chief Supt Noraidin Ag Maidin said the 41-year-old victim was a local, and police have arrested a 47-year-old suspect, on the same day. 'The suspect, also a local, is believed to have mental health issues and had previously received follow-up treatment at a healthcare facility. However, the motive is still under investigation,' he said in a statement yesterday. Noraidin said a post-mortem was conducted today at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital's Forensic Unit, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. The offence carries the death penalty, or imprisonment of no less than 30 years and not more than 40 years, and whipping if convicted. Mystery deepens as family of six disappears after overnight stay in Kedah on Saturday
ALOR SETAR, July 7 — A family of six, including a six-month-old baby, are feared missing after their family members lost contact with them since Saturday. The disappearance of Mohd Azim Ezzat Ishak, 32, his wife Nurul Hidayah Khalijah Razman Effendy, 31, and their four children, aged between six months and nine years, was realised when they did not return to their home in Jerlun after spending the night at another family member's house in Taman Aman, Jitra. According to Mohd Azim Ezzat's younger sister, Nur Adliah Shuhada, in her 20s, her brother's family usually spent the night at her house on Fridays. 'I thought they had returned to Jerlun because my brother, who works as a security guard, usually leaves early in the morning, and my sister-in-law runs a business. But when my brother's mother-in-law called and said they hadn't arrived home, I started to worry and tried to contact them but failed. 'Then I received information about a Proton Saga car in Sungai Korok (in Jitra), but the licence plate number did not match my brother's car,' she said here. Nur Adliah Shuhada said that a police report has been lodged at the Jitra Police Station regarding the disappearance of her brother and his family. 'I also posted about their disappearance on Facebook, and as of 10.30 pm tonight, they still haven't been located,' she added.
