Shocking injuries of old man viciously attacked by unlikely beast in stunning coastal Florida town

Daily Mail29-05-2025
A Florida community was recently ambushed by a 'vicious' and unlikely beast who left an old man injured.
A Muscovy duck recently made its way to a neighborhood in Cape Coral - about four hours outside of Orlando - but the animal was not at all welcoming to its neighbors.
James Sepulveda, a resident who has lived in the area since 1998, was left with an injury on his hand after the duck bit him.
'I sit on my porch, 7 to 7:30 at this time of the year to catch a sunset, you know, some sun, and I had my eyes closed,' he told Fox 4.
'All of a sudden, I felt a jab on my hand and it was bleeding.'
Sepulveda wasn't the only one attacked by the duck, as Richard Guy, a neighbor who lives down the street from him, was also targeted.
'I stood up and I made some noises, thinking it would go away, duck, you know, next thing I know, its wings come out you know like it's going to attack me,' Guy told the outlet, showing injuries near his wrist.
At one point, the duck, later named Jimmy, even followed Sepulveda into his home.
When news first broke of the animal's terrifying behavior, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) said Muscovy ducks are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
The act prohibits the killing, selling, capturing, trading or transportation of specific birds without prior authorization, according to the agency's website.
'Muscovy ducks are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, but the US Fish and Wildlife Service has issued a Control Order allowing control of Muscovy ducks and their nests and eggs in areas outside their natural range,' FWC told the outlet.
The particular ducks are known to inhabit Texas, not the Sunshine State.
If they need to be removed, the process has to include them being either humanely killed or donated to scientific or educational institutes, per the agency.
After news of Jimmy's actions spread across the community, the terrorizing duck was taken to an animal sanctuary.
Mark Quadrozzi with Remarkable Rescues in Ocala took it upon himself to remove the feisty animal from the neighborhood.
'When you have a duck that wants to actually make physical contact with a person like that, but in a way with its beak it's more of a social thing. It's kind of a given that it was hand raised by someone,' the expert told the outlet.
After looking around for Jimmy for about an hour, Quadrozzi finally located the animal and quickly realized why it might have been acting out.
'This is a young male. Yes, that's why he's being such a punk,' he said.
He believes the duck is about three to four-months-old and was likely hand-raised.
Jimmy was placed in a cage and taken to the animal sanctuary to live with other Muscovy ducks.
Now, local residents wont have to be on edge when they leave their homes.

NFL star Joshua Hines-Allen reveals his seven-year-old son has been battling cancer

Jacksonville Jaguars star Joshua Hines-Allen has revealed his seven-year-old son Wesley is nearly cancer free after battling leukemia for the past seven months. Hines-Allen, who did not travel to Indianapolis for the Jaguars' 2024 season finale in January due to personal reasons at the time, made the emotional announcement on social media along with his wife Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn recalled the initial concern they had when Wesley began bleeding from his tooth after a weekend at Disneyland. 'I was just hugging him 'cause he was crying and he started bleeding even more in the gums, then he started to catch a fever,' she explained. Joshua continued: 'It just didn't get better, and the bleeding was consistent every day.' The couple, who also have another son and daughter together, were then forced to take Wesley to hospital when his symptoms showed no signs of slowing down. The dreaded six-letter word that no parent ever wants to hear: Cancer. Seven months ago, our world stopped when our son, Wesley, was diagnosed with leukemia. As parents, we've held each other through tears we didn't know we had, watching our little boy fight the biggest battle… — Joshua Hines-Allen (@JoshHinesAllen) July 25, 2025 'I was just leaving practice,' Hines-Allen remembered. 'Kate called me [saying], "Hey, we're going to the hospital. I need you to go home and pack a bag for Wes." Not thinking anything of it, really. 'He wasn't feeling good at all still, so he's like cuddling up and we're waiting in the lobby to go back there. We finally get in the back, and then later that night [they] came back, pulled us out and they told us that he had leukemia. 'It just kind of like hit me, and nothing else mattered after that.' Doctors informed Joshua and Kaitlyn that Wesley's journey was going to be a long one, explaining how he will need to undergo regular testing for the next 21 years of his life aside from chemotherapy. Fortunately, Wesley has responded well to the treatment and is now nearing a full recovery, Kaitlyn revealed. He is set to undergo his final chemotherapy treatment in late August at Nemours Children's Health in Jacksonville. 'Wesley is doing great,' she said. 'He's swimming every day, he's running around, he's playing sports.' 'He's got back to being the big brother he is,' Joshua added. Along with the video and the encouraging update on Wesley's progress, Hines-Allen also announced that his foundation, Four One For All, is conducting a season-long campaign called Four One For Hope that aims to give back to four cancer-focused nonprofits throughout the 2025 campaign. 'We recently received the good news that Wesley is on his way to a full recovery,' he said in a separate statement, via ESPN. 'We are grateful to the dedicated team of doctors, nurses, and caretakers who contributed to our son's well-being and counseled us through this time. 'Our goal is to ensure that families going through something similar feel the same level of love and support as we did.' Hines-Allen is now gearing up for his seventh season with the Jaguars after being selected by the team with the seventh overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Woman lashes Spirit Airlines for refusing to let her fly because she'd just had cosmetic surgery

A Spirit Airlines passenger filmed himself arguing with staff who denied her boarding because she'd just had cosmetic surgery - even though she had a doctor's note. Shataria Banks traveled from Texas to Florida for the procedure - whose details she has refused to share for privacy reasons - but was unable to return home on Wednesday. She captured video of her confrontation at the Spirit Airlines desk in the Miami airport. After the agent told her she was not allowed to fly, Banks asked 'Do you all have that policy online before you book?' The agent replied, 'We have procedure that I have to follow... it's about your safety.' Banks continued to ask what policy was in place that allowed them to deny her despite having approval from her doctor. 'Well, we don't have it in writing—verbatim—from their spirit supervisor,' she told CBS Miami. 'It was just how I was treated on top of them just neglecting what my doctor said. 'Even though you all have my medical clearance, even though my doctor's— you all are still restricting me to fly.' She did not specify what type of cosmetic surgery she had, but does appear to be walking around with a drainage bag around her waist. 'I am writing this letter to request a flight assistance certificate for my patient. After a thorough assessment, I confirm that my patient can travel by air,' Bank's doctor's note said. Spirit Airlines told their agent complied with company policy. 'The safety and well-being of our Guests is our top priority. Our records show the agents followed our procedures and consulted with a designated on-call medical professional via our vendor MedLink to verify the Guest's fitness to travel,' the spokesperson said. 'The medical professional at MedLink was informed of the Guest's documentation and advised that the Guest was not fit to travel based on their condition at the time and in the interest of their safety. The Guest was ultimately issued a refund for the flight.' Spirit staff likely worried that if Banks had suffered a surgery-related medical issue while in mid-air, they could be held liable. Banks said she respects the need for safety but believes a clearer policy needs to be in place. 'I'm not saying that they can't deny their travelers and they're looking out for their safety, but have something in place, because everybody don't have money to waste for a new flight. I never want to fly with them, ever, ever,' she said.

Taylor Swift's boy toy! Travis Kelce 'looks like he's 20' after losing weight in offseason, says Chiefs coach

Travis Kelce 's gruelling summer is already paying off on the football field, his Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid has said. Kelce, 35, nearly retired after the Chiefs were destroyed by the Philadelphia Eagles in February's Super Bowl in New Orleans. The emphatic 40-22 scoreline actually flattered the Chiefs and Kelce's struggles to get open encapsualted a season where he failed to find his best form. He finished the game with four catches for 39 yards. But after deciding to play on, Kelce regrouped and spend summer getting into the best shape of his life. He worked with a personal trainer in Boca Raton, Florida and even cut out Taylor Swift 's pop tarts to shed some extra pounds. After reporting back to Chiefs camp at St. Joe's for the upcoming 2025 season, coach Reid couldn't be happier with the condition of his star tight end. 'He's svelte right now,' Reid beamed. 'He looks like he's 20. He's doing a good job. He's in great shape. 'I'm not sure he didn't come in first during the whole conditioning thing, he was right up front. You can see he's been working out. 'You saw him yesterday on the long run where he had the burst. He's done a nice job. He's worked hard to get to this spot.' It comes as Kelce went 'Instagram official' with Swift, 35, with an array of pictures of the high-profile couple that hadn't been seen before. They included pictures of Kelce spending time with Swift's brother, Austin, while Swifties also spotted that Kelce's phone background is a picture of him and the singer. Speaking last month, Kelce dismissed rumors that he had shedded 25 pounds but admitted he had been training hard in the offseason. He said: 'Each year is different man, you gotta rebuild it. This year, I got some time to really focus on some things in the offseason that I just didn't have time for last year. I'm certainly feeling good and I think it will pay off, man.' Last season, Kelce recorded a career-low 823 yards and 97 receptions. But he still entered the history books when his Christmas Day touchdown against the Pittsbugh Steelers saw him overtake Tony Gonzalez as the highest touchdown scorer in franchise history with a tally of 77. The Chiefs begin the season on Friday, September 5 in Sao Paulo, Brazil against Los Angeles Chargers. In Week 2, it's a Super Bowl rematch as the Chiefs host the Eagles at Arrowhead Stadium before heading to New York in Week 3 to take on the Giants. This season is also the last on Kelce's current contract with the Chiefs, meaning he will have a decision to make about his future in the game after this year. His teammate, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, said in May that Kelce is clearly determined as ever for success. 'If it's the last ride, you would never know,' Mahomes said. 'The way he's talking about football, the way he's talking about working and trying to be even better this year than he was last year. 'He doesn't seem like a guy like it's his last ride, like he's tired of the job.'
