Tilak smacked his second ball down the ground for a six while Bairstow unleashed powerful strokes on either side of the wickets as they added 51 runs for the second wicket in a little under six overs to stage a robust recovery.
Punjab bowlers realised taking pace off the ball was a trick that they could work with — especially the slower short balls that the lanky Jamieson delivered well — but the batters' had enough class to counter that.

Bengaluru Stampede: BCCI Ombudsman directs RCB, KSCA to file written replies to 'gross negligence' complaint
New Delhi [India], July 2 (ANI): The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Ombudsman Justice (Retd) Arun Mishra has directed the Indian Premier League 2025 winners Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) to file their respective written replies on the complaint alleging gross negligence and violation of safety norms by the franchise during the victory celebration in Bengaluru last month which led to a stampede. On June 4, 11 people died, over 50 were injured during the stampede outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium during RCB's victory celebrations as Police were short of means to control the increasing crowd. The directives from the ombudsman come after senior IPS officer Vikash Kumar, who was among four suspended by the state government, challenged the decision. The CAT quashed the government order, saying the cop should be reinstated. RCB and KSCA have four weeks to file their written replies to the complaint. 'Looking at the gravity of the incident, it is considered appropriate that the Karnataka Cricket Association, as well as the concerned franchise, Royal Challengers Bangalore, be asked to submit their written replies to the complaint. Let the Karnataka Cricket Association and the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise file their respective written replies to the complaint within four weeks, with a copy to the complainant as well,' Justice Mishra wrote in his directive. There have been recent speculations about the franchise looking for a sale, allegedly in an attempt to distance itself from facing the possible consequences. While considering this possibility, the Ombudsman in the directive stated that the status quo should be maintained in the meantime. 'Apprehension has been expressed that the franchise may be attempting to distance itself from accountability and possibly offload ownership to avoid potential consequences. In the meantime, the status quo is to be maintained,' it stated. The CAT order stated that neither the franchise nor its event management firm, S DNA Entertainment Network Private Limited, sought any permissions to conduct the title celebration parade at the stadium. CAT also pointed out that for the organisation of such events, an application has to be made a week before under the Licensing and Controlling of Assemblies and Public Procession (Bengaluru city) order, 2009. However, neither RCB nor DNA did so. The cops came under immense burden as the state government organised a 'felicitation' for players. The order said, 'Therefore, prima facie it appears that RCB is responsible for the gathering of about three to five lakh people.' 'RCB did not take the appropriate permission or consent from the Police. Suddenly, they posted on social media platforms and as a result of aforesaid information the public were gathered. Because of the shortage of time on 04.06.2025, the Police was unable to do the appropriate arrangements. Sufficient time was not given to the Police. Suddenly, RCB created the aforesaid type of nuisance without any prior permission,' it added. Last month, following the incident, the BCCI announced that during the 28th Apex Council meeting, a committee was constituted to formulate comprehensive guidelines aimed at preventing such occurrences in the future. ‘Purest of batters, purest of bowlers': Amanjot shines in 2nd T20I win

And coming on to bowl, Amanjot first grabbed the all-important wicket of the in-form England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt. However, it was with the bat that she truly instilled a level of confidence that was long missing in the Indian team. A seam-bowling all-rounder is a luxury for any team and with India preparing for the upcoming Women's ODI World Cup and the T20 World Cup next year, India would love to add that kind of luxury to the talent they can call upon. Amanjot made sure that she stuck to her job and partnered with joint top-scorer Jemimah Rodrigues, raising 93 runs for the fourth wicket. She then stitched together an unbeaten 57 with Richa Ghosh (32*) as India recorded 181/4 – the second-highest women's T20I total at Bristol. She completed her maiden T20I half-century off 35 balls. During the rebuilding job, Amanjot also showed that she can accelerate the innings with clean stroke play in the death overs as well. India scored 117 runs in the last 10 overs after the early jolts when they lost Shafali Verma (3), Smriti Mandhana (13) and Harmanpreet Kaur (1), reducing India to 31/3 within the Powerplay phase. Jemimah underlined her experience, smashing a 41-ball 63 to revive the Indian innings. She went after Linsey Smith (0/37) and Em Arlott (1/43) to inflict further damage. Amanjot is enjoying her comeback into the Indian team. She had suffered a hand and back injury in 2024, forcing her to miss the T20 World Cup as well as the domestic season. But she made use of the Women's Premier League stint with Mumbai Indians to earn her India call-up. Speaking on her maiden T20 half-century and the all-rounder tag, Amanjot said, 'It is the first of many. I am now being called an all-rounder, but I would like to believe that I am the purest of the bowlers and the purest of the batters. I want to do it more for India.' Her innings included nine fours, the same number hit by Jemimah. Richa Ghosh remained unbeaten on 32. England once again failed to mount a serious chase as they were restricted to 157/7.
