Minister's family running dance bar under mother's name gives up licence
Shiv Sena (UBT) MLC Anil Parab criticised the licence surrender, stating it proves his allegations were right and that a dance bar with immoral activities was being operated by the Kadam family for years. Demanding Kadam's resignation, Parab argued that just because a thief returns stolen goods, he cannot be let off. "Yogesh Kadam must resign on moral grounds, but it seems the CM is helpless and can't take action against him.
The law was broken by the MoS home, who is supposed to be the protector of the law," Parab said.
Kadam did not respond to calls and texts from TOI on Friday.

Parab had met CM Fadnavis Tuesday to submit evidence that Kadam was allegedly running a dance bar with a licence in his mother's name. He also presented evidence that sand extracted from the Jagbudi river, intended for houses for poor farmers, was allegedly being diverted to a dental college linked to Kadam's family in Ratnagiri.
Parab on Friday demanded action against Kadam, warning that if the CM does not take action, it will be assumed that he too is shielding dance bars.
"The MoS home, who is the protector of the law, is trampling the law. It's a pity that the CM can't take action and is helpless. It's not too late. I have already given all the evidence to the CM. So far, there is no action on the licence holder. The police are under political pressure.
So first, Yogesh Kadam must resign; otherwise, this will show the CM is helpless. The CM must show some spine," Parab said.
"There is a Savali bar, its licence is in the name of Yogesh Kadam's mother. There were bar girls dancing there, obscene dances, and money was being thrown. All this information is in the police records and FIR. I got this information under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. Therefore, it cannot be false.
Accordingly, when the raid was conducted, action was taken against 22 bar dancers, 22 customers, and four employees in the bar.
They say that they do not run the dance bar; it is given to someone else to run. I am telling you the provisions of the law for your information: if a servant or someone authorised by the owner commits a misdemeanour, the responsibility lies with the owner. Police have all video footage of a dance bar being run there," Parab said.

Election Commission urges amendments to ensure smooth polls to GBA corporations
Bengaluru: Karnataka's State Election Commission (SEC) has urged the govt to amend the Greater Bengaluru Governance Act-2024 to plug legislative gaps and enable smooth conduct of elections to the city's newly created multi-corporation civic agency setup. In a letter to additional chief secretary of the urban development department, state election commissioner GS Sangreshi highlighted the absence of clarity in the current law regarding preparation of electoral rolls and conduct of elections. In his letter, he said: "Section 35 of the Greater Bengaluru Governance Act-2024 does not specify whether the SEC should prepare electoral rolls or adopt the Legislative Assembly electoral rolls." You Can Also Check: Bengaluru AQI | Weather in Bengaluru | Bank Holidays in Bengaluru | Public Holidays in Bengaluru To address this, the commission has proposed two options: Amend Section 35 to allow the SEC to prepare electoral rolls in line with the Registration of Electors Rules-1960, framed under the Representation of People's Act-1950; or alternatively, adopt the assembly rolls, provided the govt frames rules enabling their use. "The letter also suggested aligning Section 35 with provisions in other state laws, such as the Karnataka Municipal Corporation Act-1976, and the Karnataka Municipalities Act- 1964 which include clear guidelines for electoral roll preparation," a source said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Gold Is Surging in 2025 — Smart Traders Are Already In IC Markets Learn More Undo The commission has asked the govt to frame rules under Section 68 of the Act to govern elections for key urban posts. "There is a need for the govt to frame rules under Section 68 of the Greater Bengaluru Governance Act-2024 for conducting elections for councillors, mayors, deputy mayors, and standing committee chairpersons," the letter states. Currently, Karnataka Municipal Corporations (Election) Rules-1979 are in use for elections in other municipal corporations. The SEC has recommended their adoption for Bengaluru's five city corporations to maintain procedural uniformity and avoid legal ambiguity. The commission also stressed urgency of govt intervention. "The SEC urged the govt to take prompt action to amend Section 35, frame necessary rules, or adopt existing ones to facilitate the smooth conduct of elections under the Act," the letter stated. "These measures are essential for upholding the democratic process in the newly established multiple city corporations in Bengaluru," it added. The govt is yet to respond to the proposal. Green-powered & digital, assembly to take up school fees bill
New Delhi: The monsoon session of Delhi Assembly will start on Monday, with several legislative moves planned for the Aug 4-8 sitting, including introducing Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees) Bill 2025 and the CAG reports on state finances and the welfare of building and construction workers. During this session, Delhi Assembly will become the first in the country to operate entirely on solar power, said the govt. Vidhan Sabha on Sunday also announced the launch of its transition to a fully digital, paperless legislative platform under the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) initiative from Monday. The school education bill, designed to regulate private school fees and protect parents from arbitrary hikes, mandates that no institution shall collect any fee beyond what is approved under the Act and requires the establishment of a school-level fee regulation committee in each of them. A parent cannot serve more than two consecutive terms and the committee must meet at least once before Aug 15 each year, said officials. The management must propose fees for the next three academic years by July 31, with oversight from the committee. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Use an AI Writing Tool That Actually Understands Your Voice Grammarly Install Now Undo If no agreement is reached by Sept 15, the matter must be escalated to the district fee appellate committee. These district-level bodies will include education officials, chartered accountants, school representatives and parents. Their decisions will remain binding for three academic years, though appeals can be made to a higher revision committee. Key factors in determining fee structures will include infrastructure, teacher salaries, location and expenditure-to-income ratios. On Sunday, Union minister of state for law & justice Arjun Ram Meghwal inaugurated a 500-kilowatt rooftop solar plant, praising it as a "model for sustainable governance". The initiative is expected to save up to Rs 1.75 crore annually through net metering, with surplus electricity potentially supplied back to the grid, said Vidhan Sabha Secretariat. Speaker Vijender Gupta described the moves as a "cornerstone" in the assembly's journey towards environmental and administrative reforms. "We are demonstrating how virasat (heritage) and vikaas (development) can move forward hand-in-hand," he said. Chief minister Rekha Gupta said the dual leap into clean energy and digital lawmaking reflected a broader vision for Delhi. "From fixing potholes to transforming schools, this is the beginning of a new work ethic. These are not symbolic steps, they are systemic changes," she said. Key reports, including Finance and Appropriation Accounts for 2023-24 and a few CAG reports, will be be tabled. Power minister Ashish Sood will present documents related to Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission's Green Energy Open Access Regulations, further underlining Delhi's commitment to clean energy. The assembly's solar initiative is projected to yield savings of up to Rs 15 lakh per month and is expected to swiftly recover its cost, said the assembly secretariat. The speaker said, "The successful commissioning of the solar plant marks a new chapter in our commitment to cleaner energy and public responsibility. We are proud to lead by example and demonstrate how legislative institutions can champion environmental stewardship." He said the work of e-Vidhan was completed in just 100 days through the dedicated efforts of the NeVA team. The chief minister described the commissioning of the solar plant as a turning point in institutional accountability towards environmental protection.
