Intel layoffs 2025: Intel's top strategy officer's exit comes amid the company's rapid restructuring and looming July layoffs, marking another major shift under CEO Lip‑Bu Tan . Chief Strategy Officer Safroadu Yeboah‑Amankwah will depart on June 30, 2025.
He will pass his strategic duties on to Sachin Katti, who will take on expanded oversight as Intel focuses on AI and data-center innovation. The leadership shake‑up arrives just weeks before the company begins cutting up to 20% of its global workforce, including over 100 roles at its Santa Clara headquarters and a full wind‑down of the automotive chip division.
As Intel accelerates its pivot back to core chipmaking, a key strategist's departure underscores this transformation's high-stakes nature. Stay tuned to learn how this could shape Intel's future trajectory.
Intel's layoff 2025 to start from 15th July
According to reports, Intel revealed the dates of the impending layoffs last week, indicating that they would start on July 15. The corporation is beginning layoffs with 107 employees tied to its Santa Clara, California, headquarters, according to a report by CRN.
The action was a component of a larger restructuring and cost-cutting plan that CEO Lip-Bu Tan unveiled in April of this year to boost the business's performance. The report states that Intel submitted a notice under California's Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act.
A 60-day notice period or a four-week notice period with nine weeks of pay and benefits will be given to impacted employees, the business said in the filing. "As we announced earlier this year, we are taking steps to become a leaner, faster, and more efficient company," an Intel representative told the outlet in a statement.
We can better meet the needs of our clients and improve our performance by simplifying our organization and giving our engineers more authority.
Intel's top strategy executive is leaving today
Safroadu Yeboah-Amankwah, Intel's top strategy executive, is reportedly leaving the company. Since Lip-Bu Tan took over as CEO of the US-based chipmaker in March, this is the most recent shift in leadership.
This departure comes after Intel recently revealed plans to lay off employees. Yeboah-Amankwah, who has been Intel's top strategy officer since 2020, is scheduled to depart on June 30, according to a report by the news agency Reuters. The publication reporting this development quoted two people who spoke anonymously with knowledge of the situation.
Among his duties were managing Intel's stock investments, strategic alliances, and expansion plans. "We appreciate Saf's contributions to Intel and wish him well," the firm told Reuters in a statement.
According to the Reuters article, Sachin Katti, who was recently promoted to chief technology and AI officer at Intel, would now be responsible for part of Yeboah-Amankwah's strategic responsibilities. Furthermore, two sources have confirmed to Reuters that the company's venture capital arm, Intel Capital, would now report directly to Lip-Bu Tan.

India and Bhutan approve 10 projects worth ₹1,113 crore

India and Bhutan on Monday approved 10 projects worth ₹ 1,113 crore, covering sectors such as healthcare, connectivity and urban infrastructure, and reviewed other programmes worth ₹ 10,000 crore being implemented with New Delhi's support in the neighbouring country from 2024-2029. An aerial view of Bhutan's capital Thimphu. (REUTERS) The Indian side also agreed to make revisions in the allocations for some projects because of evolving requirements. These issues were taken up during the India-Bhutan Development Cooperation Talks held in New Delhi, the external affairs ministry said. The talks are an important bilateral mechanism to review the full spectrum of bilateral development partnership, and both sides reviewed the progress in implementing projects approved in previous rounds. India provides most of the funding for Bhutan's five-year plans and has committed ₹ 10,000 crore for the 13th five-year plan from 2024-2029. This includes support for 'project tied assistance' (PTA) projects, high impact community development projects, the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) and budgetary support in the form of grants. A total of 61 PTA projects worth ₹ 4,958 crore and 283 community projects worth ₹ 417 crore, covering a wide range of sectors, are in various stages of implementation. The Indian government has also released ₹ 750 crore for Bhutan's ESP and ₹ 100 crore as programme grant and the meeting reviewed the progress in using these funds. The Bhutanese side presented the second tranche of PTA project proposals to be implemented during the 13th five-year plan. Ten projects worth ₹ 1,113 crore, covering sectors such as healthcare, connectivity, urban infrastructure and livestock, were approved by the two sides. 'Both sides agreed to make suitable revisions to the allocations for some of the PTA projects taking into account the evolving requirements,' the ministry said without giving details. India said it will continue working with the Bhutan government on its development agenda in line with the shared vision of the leadership of both sides, and based on the priorities of the government and people of Bhutan. The Indian delegation at the meeting was led by secretary (West) Tanmaya Lal and the Bhutanese team by foreign secretary Aum Pema Choden. The two sides also agreed to hold the next Development Cooperation Talks in Thimphu at a mutually convenient date.
