Raiders Reportedly Have 'No Interest' in Trading Former Second-Round Pick

Raiders Reportedly Have 'No Interest' in Trading Former Second-Round Pick originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Las Vegas Raiders selected Brock Bowers with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. While he was not necessarily a need for the team, he was certainly a luxury, as the Raiders' rookie tight end was a First-Team All-Pro and a Pro Bowler in 2024.

Ultimately, however, his success was not enough to overcome a poor quarterback situation and the complete absence of a run game. The Silver and Black won just four games last year and needed to make several changes ahead of the 2025 season.
New general manager John Spytek reportedly tested the waters on Michael Mayer's trade value earlier this offseason, as the third-year tight end was thought by some to be expendable after Bowers' rookie campaign.

This sentiment was exacerbated by various reports linking Mayer to the Miami Dolphins after they traded away starting tight end Jonnu Smith on Monday. However, the Las Vegas Review-Journal's Vincent Bonsignore put a stop to these rumors.

"The @Raiders have no interest in trading Michael Mayer," Bonsignore wrote.
Mayer has certainly got off to a rough start in his NFL career, but the 2023 second-round pick has plenty of untapped potential. With a strong play-caller in Chip Kelly, he should see an increase in production.
Through two seasons, he has caught just 48 passes for 480 yards and two touchdowns, but new Raiders quarterback Geno Smith will be the best signal-caller he has played with in the NFL.
Miami also traded for former Raiders and Giants tight end Darren Waller on Tuesday, filling their void in the starting lineup. This, combined with Bonsignore's report, paints an incredibly unlikely scenario where Mayer ends up in Miami.

Notre Dame adds its 2nd ‘26 WR commit of the weekend with NFL legends son Devin Fitzgerald

BREAKING: Class of 2026 WR Devin Fitzgerald has Committed to Notre Dame, he tells me for @rivalsThe 6'2 205 WR from Phoenix, AZ chose the Fighting Irish over Clemson, Stanford, & UCLA⁰⁰He is the son of NFL Legend Larry Fitzgerald Notre Dame football recruiting hasn't skipped a beat over the last three weeks, and as the commitments keep rolling in, with Saturday night's verbal of 2026 wide receiver Devin Fitzgerald the latest. The son of NFL legend Larry, had been projected to commit to Notre Dame, but made it official as he joined one of the top classes in the country. Devin stands 6-foot, 2-inches and weighs 205-pounds while being ranked as the No. 453 overall prospect in the country by the 247Sports Composite. In Fitzgerald's case, the recruiting ranking should be thrown out the window, as he can lean on his father for expert advice, and will now bring that elite experience to South Bend with him. It can't be understated how much the NFL father's bring to the table, especially considering that the Irish now have numerous players with that. Just yesterday Kaydon Finley committed, his father Jermichael also played at the highest level. Not only that, linebacker Thomas Davis Jr.'s father also falls into that category. Betting on bloodlines is a good idea, and the Irish have done plenty of that.

Houston Rockets Trade Cam Whitmore to Washington Wizards

Houston Rockets Trade Cam Whitmore to Washington Wizards originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Houston Rockets are trading Cam Whitmore to the Washington Wizards for two second-round picks, sources tell ESPN. The deal gives Whitmore a tremendous opportunity for an increased role as he turns 21 on Tuesday and returns to the DMV area. Advertisement This trade gives Whitmore a genuine opportunity for a larger role in a rebuilding Wizards roster, one more open to experimenting with younger talent. If he develops more consistency, especially shooting from outside and maintaining defensive discipline, he has the potential to evolve into a true 3-and-D forward in the modern NBA. He will help anchor a wing rotation for a team that went 18–64 last season. He averaged 10.8 ppg last season for the Rockets. Whitmore's game is often described as "tweener-perfect" as he is good at driving to the basket, finishing with authority, using quick footwork in space, and stepping into mid‑range pull‑ups. Defensively, he brings positional adaptability from guarding power forwards to perimeter wings. Advertisement His tenacity and high energy translate into hustle plays that swing momentum, whether contesting shots, boxing out, or cutting off driving lanes. If Whitmore thrives, Washington benefits significantly as a potential foundational piece or trade asset. If not, the cost is limited to Day 2 draft picks.
