Samsung is building a dedicated production line for iPhone Fold OLED panels

GSM Arena10-07-2025
The last report we saw for the foldable iPhone claimed it was already in its prototype testing phase with a tentative launch for September 2026. We now get additional supply chain info from ET News which claims Samsung Display is building a dedicated production line for foldable OLED panels at its A3 plant in Asan, South Chungcheong Province.
Samsung is expected to be the exclusive display supplier for Apple's foldable iPhone. Apple was reportedly impressed by Samsung's nearly crease-less display tech, which will be used on the iPhone Fold's 7.8' main display.
According to the new report, Samsung estimates it can produce up to 35,000 foldable display units per month and as many as 15 million per year. That would be more than enough for Cupertino, which is expected to sell anywhere between 6-8 million units of its foldable iPhone.
The foldable iPhone is expected to bring a 5.5-inch cover screen, an under-display camera and a side-mounted Touch ID sensor. The device will be extremely thin at around 9mm when folded and it will use a liquid metal hinge. Early estimates suggest launch price of $2,100 - $2,300 – a bit more than Samsung's newly launched Galaxy Z Fold7.

Samsung updates Good Lock modules ahead of One UI 8 rollout

Samsung has begun updating key Good Lock modules ahead of the official One UI 8 release, ensuring a smoother transition for Galaxy device users planning to upgrade to Android 16. In order to have its suite of apps ready for the launch of its new devices this week, Samsung has rolled out updates to four popular Good Lock components: Home Up, MultiStar, NavStar, and QuickStar. All of these now officially support One UI 8 , which comes preloaded with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 and should continue to roll out to older Galaxy devices after that. This follows a similar update to Samsung's Good Guardians suite earlier this month. The updated versions are as follows: Home Up: 17.0.00.28 MultiStar: 10.0.32 NavStar: 8.0.00.4 QuickStar: 9.0.00.01 Good Lock modules receiving an update. | Image credit — PhoneArena These updates are now live in the Galaxy Store. To install them, open the Galaxy Store app, go to Menu > Updates, and tap the "Update all" button in the top right corner. It should be noted that while all four modules are now compatible with One UI 8 , Home Up has received the most notable improvements. In One UI 8 , Samsung has shifted many Home Up customization tools directly into the core home screen settings, allowing users to make changes without needing to dive into the module. Enhanced animation tuning and blur customization are now supported natively, and the new DIY Home feature adds deeper layout control. As such, those interested in exploring the improvements will need to wait for their device's eligibility in the One UI 8 rollout, which is rumored to begin no secret that Samsung's Good Lock has become a staple among Galaxy power users, offering tools to personalize everything from the status bar and navigation gestures to multitasking behavior and themes. Now, with these new updates, the platform remains tightly integrated with Samsung's software updates. Hopefully, users can expect more modules to be refreshed as we approach the stable release window.

Apple starts selling its products directly in Saudi Arabia

Apple has officially landed in Saudi Arabia. Not that its products hadn't been available over there so far, but now the company has opened its official online store in the country. You can also use the Apple Store app in Saudi Arabia, and both support the Arabic language of course. Apple promises to deliver "exceptional service" thanks to its "talented, dedicated team members". The online store, either on the web or via the app, houses the company's full lineup of products. In the app, you can get recommendations tailored to you based on the Apple products you already own. You can also compare different models, access saved items, and easily track your orders. For Macs, you have configure-to-order options, and you can personalize your Apple Watch case and band combination too. There's a free engraving service in both Arabic and English for AirPods, Apple Pencil, and AirTag, with text, emoji, and numbers in dual language. Support is provided via chat and phone, and after you receive an order you can connect with an Apple team member online to get help with Personal Setup, switching to iOS, as well as cellular activation. There will be a Buy Now Pay Later option too, with four monthly installments at zero percent interest. AppleCare+ is also supported in Saudi Arabia, as is the company's trade-in program. Apple plans to start opening physical stores in the country next year, including an iconic retail store coming to Diriyah, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Source
