Kelana Jaya LRT services disrupted after passenger falls onto track

PETALING JAYA: The Kelana Jaya LRT line temporarily disrupted services this morning after a passenger fell onto the tracks. Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd said the passenger entered the track area of the Subang Alam LRT station at about 8am as a train was approaching the platform.
Advertisement The passenger, who sustained a serious injury to his head, was rescued by members of the public before fire and rescue personnel arrived at the scene, according to the Selangor fire and rescue department. The 27-year-old man was sent to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang for treatment. 'Police are conducting an investigation and Rapid Rail will provide its full cooperation,' the company said in a statement. Rail services resumed at 10.22am. In February, a blind man lost his balance and fell onto the tracks at the Titiwangsa LRT station where he was struck by a train and died. Dog skinned alive: Tawau SPCA ups reward to find culprit

TAWAU: The Tawau Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is offering RM12,800 reward for any information that could lead to the identification and arrest of the individual responsible for skinning a dog alive at Taman Da Hua 3, recently. The dog, beloved by the local community, was discovered severely injured, having been brutally skinned. The incident shocked both animal lovers and residents, with SPCA warning that such cruelty toward animals poses a broader threat to community safety. RM103,000 Criminal Breach of Trust: Clerk claims trial

Kota Kinabalu: A 37-year-old accountant clerk claimed trial to three counts of committing criminal breach of trust involving a sum of RM103,351.36. Brandon Ng Jia Lie made the plea after the charges were read before three Sessions Court Judges, Hurman Hussain, Elsie Primus and Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim, Friday. Advertisement On the first count, Ng is accused of breaching the trust given to him as an accountant clerk by depositing two cheques amounting to RM6,462.50 belonged to Syarikat Sime Darby Industrial Sdn Bhd, into his bank account for his own use. The alleged incident took place between Nov 16, 2021 and Dec 31, 2021 at the Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad, here. On the second count, he allegedly committed criminal breach of trust by depositing another eight cheques amounting to RM64,169.26 belonged to Syarikat Sime Darby Industrial Sdn Bhd, into his bank account for his own use, between Feb 29, 2022 and Dec 29, 2022 at the same place. On the third count, Ng is accused of committing the offence by depositing five cheques amounting to RM32,719.60 belonged to Syarikat Sime Darby Industrial Sdn Bhd, into his bank account for his own use at the same place between Feb 3, 2023 and July 27, 2023. The offence, under Section 408 of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of between one and 14 years, and whipping, and liable to fine, on conviction. The court set Aug 12, this year, and released on bail of RM5,000 in two local sureties for each charge. Ng was also ordered to report to the nearest police station every first and third Friday of the month and his passport, if any, to be impounded by the court until the disposal of his case. Earlier, the prosecution objected to bail Ng on the grounds that he has three charges against him but if the court were to grant bail, there were several conditions to be imposed on him. Ng, who was not represented, asked for bail to be given to him saying that it was his first court case and if he was denied bail, there's no one else to financially provide for his family since his wife is a full-time housewife. He also claimed that he has no authority to sign or approve any cheque. Ng requested for the amount of bail to be between RM2,000 and RM3,000, adding that he would apply for the legal service from the National Legal Aid Foundation.
