Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 Sees Record Demand In India, Sold Out In Key Markets

News182 days ago
Samsung says it received over 210,000 pre-orders for its Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7, and the Z Flip7 FE within just 48 hours of launch.
The Galaxy Z Fold7, Samsung India's latest flagship foldable smartphone, has witnessed overwhelming demand, leading to stockouts in several major markets across the country. The company said the unprecedented interest in its seventh-generation foldable line-up has outpaced expectations, with efforts underway at its Noida facility to ramp up production.
The South Korean electronics giant, which leads India's consumer electronics market, in a statement said it received over 210,000 pre-orders for its Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7, and the Z Flip7 FE within just 48 hours of launch — a new record for Samsung foldables in India. This strong consumer response is being viewed as a clear signal of the foldable form factor's rapid move into the smartphone mainstream.
'We would like to thank India's tech-savvy consumers for giving the Galaxy Z Fold7 a blockbuster start," said Raju Pullan, senior vice-president (MX business) of Samsung India. 'We are aware that many markets in the country are facing a shortfall due to huge demand. We are working overtime to ensure adequate supplies of our most advanced smartphone."
Retailers across the country are echoing the sentiment. Nilesh Gupta, director at Vijay Sales, said many of their top outlets have already run out of stock. 'Samsung's seventh generation of foldable smartphones, especially the Galaxy Z Fold7, has been performing exceptionally well across our stores. The customer response has been extraordinary."
Sandeep Singh Jolly, COO at Electronics Mart India Ltd (Bajaj Electronics), said their flagship stores in key cities have seen a surge in demand. 'It's evident that customers are thrilled with the innovation and premium experience the device offers."
Uvaraj Natarajan, CEO of Poorvika Mobiles, said, 'Galaxy Z Fold7 has been a great success with a fabulous response across regions. Stocks are getting liquidated as soon as they arrive."
Samsung is pitching the Galaxy Z Fold7 as its smartest and most advanced smartphone yet. Running on One UI 8, the Fold7 integrates deeply with AI tools, including Google's Gemini Live, allowing users to share screens with the assistant and get contextual help. Samsung has also introduced Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), which adds app-specific secure storage for better data privacy, according to the statement.
The Fold7 is also the lightest and slimmest in the series so far, weighing just 215 grams, and measuring 8.9 mm when folded and 4.2 mm when unfolded. The device is available in four colour options: Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, Mint, and Jet Black.
Upgrades in Design and Power
Samsung has upgraded almost every key component in the Fold7. Its Armor FlexHinge features a refined water droplet design and a new multi-rail structure that reduces visible creasing. The cover display is protected by Corning's new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, and the frame uses stronger Armor Aluminum for improved durability, the company said in the statement.
Inside, the device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, delivering significant performance gains — a 41% boost in NPU, 38% in CPU, and 26% in GPU — over the previous generation. This allows more advanced AI processing directly on the device, it added.
Another major highlight is the 200MP wide-angle camera, a first for the Galaxy Z series, which promises four times more detail and up to 44% brighter images, backed by Samsung's next-gen ProVisual Engine.

Let market forces decide price for e-waste, electronics firms tell Delhi HC

Electronics product manufacturing companies, such as Samsung and Voltas, told the Delhi High Court on Friday that the government should allow market forces to determine the price of electronic waste instead of fixing those prices itself. The electronic waste disposal rules mandate a minimum payment of Rs 22 per kg to recyclers, which the companies claim will significantly increase their costs. The companies are seeking to have these rules quashed, arguing that they are commercially unviable and go against the objectives of the Environment Protection Act (EPA). India's e-waste management is governed by the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, which became effective on April 1, 2023. These 2022 rules build upon the 2016 rules, which first introduced the concept of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). Companies such as Samsung, Voltas, and LG have opposed these rules before the Delhi High Court. An EPR certificate is a document that demonstrates a company's commitment to environmentally responsible waste management. It signifies compliance with regulations regarding the collection, recycling, and proper disposal of products, particularly electronic waste, plastic waste, and batteries. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in India issues these certificates to producers and importers of various products. The government's objective under the new rules, the companies argued, is to incentivize recyclers rather than solely protect the environment. However, the court remarked that the "move to incentivize the recyclers" was also aimed at "protecting the environment." The lawyer for the electronics companies told the court that the EPR mechanism was working successfully. With the new price regulations, the costs they need to pay to recyclers have increased significantly. The companies claimed that with the minimum and maximum percentage caps of 30 per cent and 100 per cent, respectively, prices have gone up. "Price regulation is being done by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). We need to find a solid legal basis for these new rules," argued the counsel for the companies. He also argued that the new, increased prices felt like a 'penalty' for the companies despite their compliance with the rules. The government had told the court in the previous hearing that it should dismiss the pleas from the electronic companies, stating that they were driven by commercial considerations.

Meet Haryana man, who used to sell sewing machines, fans, started with Rs 2000, now owns Rs 7000 crore company, his business is…, he is…

The story of Nanu Gupta from Haryana is one inspiring for many youngsters. He was Born in 1942 into a farmer's family in Haryana but later moved to Mumbai in 1954. Through hard work, he went on to establish Vijay Sales which is one of India's most prominent electronics retail chains. Story Of Vijay Sales Vijay Sales has over 120 stores across India and records annual sales of more than Rs 4,000 crore. It all started with just Rs 2,000. Nanu started his journey by selling fans and sewing machines for Usha International Limited. But this was the place where he learnt the art of understanding customers and dealing with them effectively. In 1967, he opened a small 50–60 square-foot shop in Matunga, Mumbai, and named it Vijay Sales , after his brother. The store sold sewing machines and fans. By 1974, he began selling black-and-white televisions. When color TVs entered the market, Nanu took a bold step at that time. He purchased a larger space in Mahim to display the TVs in an attractive manner. His son, Nilesh Gupta once mentioned how risky that decision was at the time, but Nanu's vision paid off. His strategy was to keep all the TVs running in-store to attract customers visually. How Vijay Sales Became Successful? One of Nanu's specialties was his commitment to winning customer trust. At a time when EMIs were not common, he offered customers the option to pay in installments. If a customer ever faced a problem with a product, he would personally visit their home to resolve the issue. This honesty and dedication to service won people over. By 2006–07, Vijay Sales had 8–10 stores in Mumbai. Around that time, the company purchased a four-story store in Goregaon, with each floor measuring about 1,300 square feet. In 2007–08, it expanded to Pune, Ahmedabad, Surat, and Delhi, reaching Rs 500 crore in revenue. Vijay Sales Expansion That same year, Vijay Sales started offering digital products like mobile phones and computers. Today, the company sells more than 3,500 products across 11+ categories, with stores in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. Nanu Gupta is a Chairman of the company, while his sons Nilesh and Ashish Gupta are Directors. His grandson, Karan Gupta, is also involved in the business. In 2021, a senior company official shared that Vijay Sales will reach Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 crore in sales by 2025 and open 200 stores.

Newly leaked images of the upcoming Google Pixel Buds 2a showcase a revamped look, fresh color variants, and possible feature upgrades. A 9To5Google report indicates that although the charging case seems unchanged, the earbuds themselves might feature design modifications, potentially including extra microphones to support Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). Samsung is reportedly planning major battery improvements for its upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup. A report by 9to5Google suggests that the series could consist of three variants — the Galaxy S26 Pro (which might replace the standard version), the Galaxy S26 Edge (as a successor to the Plus), and the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Each model is anticipated to come with larger battery capacities, and the Ultra version might also benefit from faster charging capabilities.
