Stevie Wonder Has the Perfect Response to Wild Rumor He's Not Really Blind

Yahoo14 hours ago
Stevie Wonder had the perfect response to ongoing rumors that he is not actually blind.
During a show for his Love, Light and Song U.K. tour in Cardiff, Wales, the singer poked fun at the wild speculation and addressed the crowd: 'I must say to all of you, something that I was thinking, 'When did I want to let the world know this?' But I wanted to say it right now. You know there have been rumors about me seeing and all that? But seriously, you know the truth.'

He continued: 'Truth is, shortly after my birth, I became blind. Now, that was a blessing because it's allowed me to see the world in the vision of truth, of sight. See people in the spirit of them, not how they look. Not what color they are, but what color is their spirit?'
Wonder has kept things lighthearted when discussing his blindness. During a 2015 appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman, the musician listed a catalog of the best advantages of being blind including, 'You can act like you don't see nothing when you really do' and 'You can say you didn't see that when you did.'
His optimism for life began early in his childhood. When discussing his journey with journalist Wesley Morris and Barack Obama in 2024 for The Wonder of Stevie podcast, Wonder said, 'I was born. Shortly after that, I'm blind. My mother went through the different things, and so my experience with that was deep.'
The 25-time Grammy winner said his mother would cry 'every night' and one time he told her: 'Mama, you shouldn't cry, you're making my head hurt.'
'And I said, 'Maybe God has something for me that's bigger than all this,'' recalled Wonder, adding, 'History proved that true.'

Robert Eggers' Werwulf Gets Promising Update From Casting Call

A new report from World of Reel has given fans a update, including a promising look at when we might know who will star in Robert Eggers' highly anticipated next film. According to World of Reel's report and a UK casting call sheet, Werwulf will begin filming this September in Elstree, England. This means casting for the film is likely already underway, and we might know more information sooner rather than later. According to a Q&A Eggers took part in at the Lincoln Center, the director himself said that his upcoming Werwulf will be the 'darkest thing' he's ever written. The movie is currently slated to release on December 25, 2026. Details for the project are mostly unknown as of now, but the project will be set in 13th-century England, and much like Eggers' other projects, will feature dialogue and settings accurate to the period. Original rumors suggested the film would be in black and white, according to THR, but that won't be the case. Prior to the announcement of Werwulf, rumors suggested that Eggers had been tapped to direct a new Labyrinth movie. Eggers himself has also spoken about wanting to make a medieval movie known right now as The Knight, as well as one day hoping to make a Western film. He's also been rumored to be working on a miniseries about Grigori Rasputin, the Russian mystic and faith healer. The cast of Werwulf is also unknown as of now, but Eggers did mention during the Nosferatu press tour that he had asked Willem Dafoe to be in two of his next movies. Why Princess Diana "Gave Up" Prince William and Prince Harry During their Childhood Summers

Princess Diana willingly "gave up" her summers with her sons Prince William and Prince Harry for a heartbreaking reason, her former butler says. Paul Burrell, who served as Princess Diana's butler from 1987 to 1997, said Princess Diana only had two weeks each summer with her sons. He revealed that the last summer of her life, Princess Diana spent two weeks with her sons in the Mediterranean before bringing them back to Princess Diana and then-Prince Charles separated in 1992 before filing for divorce four years later, they shook up the British monarchy—and, according to the late Princess of Wales's longtime butler, their dynamic with their sons. In an interview with Marie Claire published on Tuesday, July 16, Paul Burrell— who served as the late royal's butler from 1987 to 1997—revealed the heartbreaking reason that Princess Diana 'willingly gave up' her sons Prince William and Prince Harry during the summer. Following her split from Charles, Diana began to see much less of her boys during the summer months, with Burrell sharing that she 'only ever had the boys for two weeks every year because she gave them up.' He explained. "Summer was fun for her, but she realized that the rest of the year and the time away from boarding school, that they would be with their father and their friends.' This decision was a particularly difficult one in the years before her death, as both her sons started attending boarding school when they were just 8 years old—at the time of Diana's passing, William was at Eton while Harry went to Ludgrove Prep School. Despite wanting more time with her sons, Burrell said Princess Diana knew what was at stake if they didn't fully integrate in the royal fold. 'She said it's important for them to grow up with her cousins, with the Royal Family at Balmoral,' he shared, adding, 'She realized that they were growing up and they had to be integrated into the Royal Family because William one day will be King and Harry will be there to support him." Burrell also said that Princess Diana had to get creative with planning summer vacation activities with her sons, usually choosing a beach destination like 'Necker Island, or somewhere remote' rather than Kensington Palace. The former butler revealed that Princess Diana's last summer with Prince Harry and Prince William in 1997 was a brief one before the boys headed to Scotland to spend the rest of the season with Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, and their dad Charles. 'They'd been to the Mediterranean, and they played on jet skis, and they'd had fun. Then she brought them back home so that they could go to Balmoral,' he explained. While Princess Diana might have felt this decision was the best thing for her sons, it didn't make the lack of time together any easier. Describing the late royal as a 'devoted mother,' Burrell revealed that this arrangement took a toll as Harry and William's boarding school schedules already cut into their limited time together. 'She began to lose them to the outside world and to the Royal Family. Not emotionally, but physically, which was very sad,' he said. Read the original article on InStyle
