On July 12, 1963, Brady had told Hindley he wanted to 'commit his perfect murder' when he spotted 16-year-old Pauline Reade.
Hindley asked her if she would help her locate an expensive glove she had lost on the Moor.
She later claimed Brady then took Pauline on to the Moor, where he slashed her throat twice and sexually assaulted her.
Brady claims that Hindley helped.

It was only 19 years after he was caged for life over his sickening crimes that Brady confessed to Pauline's murder.
On June 30, 1987, after 100 days of searching, the body of Pauline was found buried three feet below the ground.
It took pathologists a month to decide that the girl had been sexually assaulted and her throat slashed from behind.
John Kilbride

John Kilbride was lured to the Moor by Hindley and Brady, who sexually assaulted him before strangling on November 23, 1963, Hindley approached John Kilbride in Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire, and offered him a lift home.
Brady told the 12-year-old he would give him some sherry, but they would have to make a detour on the Moor first.
He sexually assaulted the youngster and attempted to slit his throat with a six-inch serrated blade before fatally strangling him with a piece of string.
John was found buried on the Moors on October 21, 1965, two years after he went missing.
Keith Bennett

Keith Bennett, 12, was on his way to his grandmother's house on June 16, 1964, when Hindley lured him into her van.
She drove to a lay-by on the Moor and Brady took the boy while Hindley kept watch.
Brady reappeared 30 minutes later having sexually assaulted and strangled Keith.
After he was transferred from prison to maximum-security hospital Ashworth in November 1985, Brady confessed to Keith's murder in an interview with reporters.
A search was carried out on the moors a year later, with Hindley joining officers in 1986 and Brady in 1987.
But Keith's body was never found and it is now a secret Brady has taken to the grave.
A fresh search was launched in September 2022 after a child's skull was reported to have been discovered.
However, the whereabouts of Keith still remain unknown.
Lesley Ann Downey

Desperate for another victim, cruel Brady and Hindley visited a fairground on Boxing Day, 1964, and came across Lesley Ann Downey.
They approached the 10-year-old and lured her back to their house, where she was undressed, gagged and forced to pose for photographs before being raped and killed.
The following morning Brady and Hindley drove with Downey's body to Saddleworth Moor, where she was buried, naked with her clothes at her feet, in a shallow grave.
Her naked body was not found until October 10, 1965.
At their trial in 1966, all-male jurors fell silent for 16 minutes as the tape recording of Lesley Ann Downey's terrified last moments was played to the court.
The tape was played at full volume and the chilling sounds of screaming echoed through the court before only the footsteps and soft voices in the background could be heard.
Harrowing passages could be heard including 'Don't undress me, will you?' and 'I want to see mummy'. The haunting sound of the 10-year-old's throat being slit was also played to the court.
Edward Evans

The monster couple might have gone on to murder more had it not been for a blunder involving 17-year-old Edward.
On October 6, 1965, Brady met 17-year-old apprentice engineer Edward Evans at Manchester Central railway station and invited him to his home.
At this point, Brady and Hindley had become intent on corrupting Myra's brother-in-law, David Smith, and recruiting him into their twisted circle where Brady would talk about murder.
Brady offered a practical demonstration with Edward - striking him fourteen times with a hatchet before finishing the job by strangling him.
Horrified, Smith phoned police the next morning and directed them to Brady's address.
Officers searched 16 Wardle Brook Avenue where they discovered Edward's corpse wrapped in plastic sheeting.
The bloody murder weapon was also recovered, along with Brady's collection of books on perversion and sadism.
Brady and Hindley's gruesome reign of terror began to unravel and the twisted pair were arrested on suspicion of murder.

Brit model Chloe Ayling poses heartbreaking 13-word question after kidnap ordeal
Chloe Ayling, from Croydon, south London, was grabbed from behind and bundled into a suitcase during her kidnapping in Milan, where she'd travelled for a bogus modelling job A British model kidnapped by a thug begged to know what made her story "so unbelievable" in a poignant documentary last night. Staring directly into the camera, Chloe Ayling asked: "What is it about me and my story that makes this so unbelievable?" at the start of the BBC programme Chloe Ayling: My Unbelievable Kidnapping. She led with the question because the documentary later told the audience people still don't believe her - eight years on. But that is despite the jail sentence of Lukasz Herba, a 30-year-old Polish computer programmer from Oldbury, West Midlands, who had drugged, kidnapped and driven Chloe 120 miles to a remote farmhouse near Turin, where she was held hostage for one week. The documentary comes after a man brutally killed a woman on their first date and left her body parts around a town. The show highlighted how Chloe, then 20, was dismissed as a money-grabber who wanted only to be famous. She was encouraged by her agent to go to Milan for a modelling job, but this was actually fake and a lure by Herba to entrap Chloe. Herba was primed to grab the glamour model from behind and bundle her into a suitcase. Injected with ketamine and chained to furniture, she was forced to sleep on the floor of a remote farmhouse. Photographs of her lying unconscious in skimpy clothing were sent to her manager in London, along with a demand for €300,000 (£260,000). If the ransom wasn't paid within a week, she would be auctioned off as a sex slave. Although she was eventually released, Chloe faced another battle to rebuild her life because many didn't believe her graphic and appalling story. Recalling her childhood, Chloe, now 28, said in the documentary: "I had a lot of difficulties with communication... I'd react in the wrong way. If I was being told off I would smile. I just had the wrong reactions to things." The model, from Croydon, south London, told how she has since been diagnosed with autism, something she believes explains so much – not just about her reactions during her kidnap ordeal, but about her life before and since. In the TV show last night, the mum continued: "Autism plays a big part in the way that I reacted, and that was confusing to neurotypical people... People disassociate with events that have happened or have a delayed reaction, especially after trauma. So, it can't all be put down to a diagnosis, and that shouldn't affect the way people treated me."

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THIS is the moment an asylum seeker flips the bird at protesters as he is escorted by a policeman into a £200 a night migrant hotel. The man also flicked a cigarette towards the 40-person group of shouting anti-migrant protesters as tensions flared outside The Chine Hotel in Boscombe, Bournemouth. As a young man is escorted by a police officer towards the seaside hotel, an anti-migrant protester is heard shouting: "Where are you from mate?" The migrant then flicks a cigarette towards the group before shouting back at them. Adding fuel to the fire, another protester can be heard asking him: "Were you running from a war?" The man stops before turning to give the crowd the middle finger. The Chine is one of three hotels in Bournemouth that are used to house asylum seekers and thereby closed to the public. The late 19th century hotel - visited by celebrities like Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy and Dame Vera Lynn - is known for its sea views. It has 88 rooms that showcase views of the sea or the landscaped gardens, along with indoor swimming pool and spa facilities. The honeymoon suite is said to cost £200 a night. The protest saw anti-migrant protesters passionately waving their Union Jack flags and playing patriotic songs like 'Three Lions' and 'Rule Britannia' on a loudspeaker. Watch moment migrant boat arrives on Spain hols beach before they are chased & tackled by angry locals A group from Stand Up To Racism, supported by former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, showed up to form a counter-protest. They held up placards, reading: 'Refugees Welcome, Stop The Far Right'. Dozens of police officers created a barrier between the two groups as things became heated. Though one anti-immigration protester squared up to a police officer, no arrests were made during the three-hour protest. It comes as mothers and children dressed in pink protested outside Britain's most controversial migrant hotel on Saturday - before masked yobs hijacked the event and clashed with police. Demonstrators chanting 'Save our kids and women' shut down a busy road outside the four-star Britannia International Hotel in Canary Wharf, East London. They were among 200 anti-migrant protesters waving flags, including a giant St George's Cross, and calling for an end to small boat crossings. On Sunday, the Met Police issued a Section 42 dispersal order banning some demonstrators from gathering outside the hotel for 28 days. 5 Anti-migrant protesters shouting at asylum seekers entering a hotel as police officers intervene on Monday Credit: BNPS

The Repair Shop's Jay Blades charged with two counts of rape
Former star of The Repair Shop, Jay Blades, has been accused of two counts of rape. Police confirmed the allegations against the star who fronted the BBC show for seven years before stepping back in 2024. It was also confirmed that the host, 55, is set to appear in court next week. 'Jason Blades, 55, of Claverley in Shropshire, has been charged with two counts of rape. 'He is due to appear at Telford magistrates' court on 13 August 2025,' a spokesperson for the West Mercia Police told The Sun. It was announced that Blades was taking a step back from the show in May 2024, soon after he split from his wife. Blades' wife, Lisa Marie Zbozen, shared on social media that their marriage was over after 18 months. In her message, she said that she felt 'incredibly sad about the whole thing', adding: 'I don't think I've ever cried so much'. It was then reported that while The Repair Shop was continuing to film, Blades was 'having a break' from the production. 'Jay has taken a step back and is having a break from filming The Repair Shop,' a source told The Sun. 'His uncle's death in March and the breakdown of his marriage means he has decided to take some time out.' In October, Blades was charged with engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, with allegations coming from his estranged wife, Zbozen. Blades pleaded not guilty to the charges. The charge against Blades alleges his behaviour had a serious effect' on his partner. Judge James Burbidge KC rejected an application for part of the proceedings to be heard in private, before adjourning the case with a possible trial date of May 6 next year. More Trending The future of BBC TV programme The Repair Shop, which he has been a part of ever since it launched in 2017, has been called into question. An insider reportedly told The Sun: 'The Beeb won't feature any new shows in which he appears until it is clear how legal proceedings conclude.' The broadcaster previously confirmed to Metro that he is not currently filming the programme, and the BBC is currently not going to be scheduling any programmes in which he is featured- but content that already features Blades will remain on BBC iPlayer.
