Real reason Corrie star left the soap after 11 years as actor's partner slams bosses ‘huge mistake'

The Sun23-05-2025
CORONATION Street star Daniel Brocklebank has left the soap after making a string of online conspiracy posts.
The 45-year-old actor, who has played gay vicar Bill Mayhew for 11 years, will be written out next year, ITV execs have decided.

He said he was sad to go but excited about the future.
But his partner, Jordan Coulthard, wrote on social media: 'Not his decision. Huge mistake.
"I can't even believe we are having this conversation. No words can describe how heartbroken I am for him.'
Over the past four years the actor has posted claims that the government were tampering with the voting process.
He also said planes were spraying chemical over the country while he has liked and reposted anti-vax messages.
Earlier this year he wrote: 'We have been lied to so much. Governments. Pharma. Kings. Queens.'
'MSM', an abbreviation of mainstream media, were also blamed.
Confirming his exit, Daniel said: 'I have been working on Corrie for a quarter of my life.
"I have adored every minute I have been in that building and have never not looked forward to going into work.
"I love everyone who works on this show and, whilst I am sad to be going, I am equally excited to see what the future holds.'
Daniel was at the centre of one of the soap's biggest recent storylines, when Bill's husband Paul, played by Peter Ash, was seen deteriorating and passing away last year from motor neurone disease.
Producer Kate Brooks said: 'Billy will be involved in a major storyline over the coming months, which will see him tested in ways he never imagined, as friendships and his faith are pushed to the limit.
'We're incredibly sad to bid farewell to Dan, who has been fantastic.'

Mabel marries fiancé Preye Crooks after splashing out on an incredible London venue with 150 guests including celebrity attendees

Mabel has married her fiancé Preye Crooks in a London ceremony over the weekend. The singer, 29, tied the knot with the music executive after spending five figures on hiring the ictoria and Albert Museum in Chelsea to host 150 guests. According to the Sun, guests including Miquita Oliver and her mother Andi partied the night away drinking drinking champagne and margaritas. An insider told the publication: 'It was quite an intimate affair initially — they had a nice dinner with their closest friends and family to kick things off. 'Then more of their loved ones turned up to celebrate with them in style later in the evening. They all had a brilliant time and Mabel and Preye looked so in love.' The venue typically costs around £10,000 to hire for wedding parties. The couple got engaged in November last year. Preye is the son of former Spurs footballer Garth Crooks. After Preye popped the question, she proudly showed off her sparkling diamond ring in a video online. They celebrated with a huge party as the couple were joined by family and friends, with one pal sharing a glimpse of the bash to TikTok. Mabel, who's full name is Mabel Alabama-Pearl McVey, looked sensational in a pink silk gown and couldn't wipe the smile off her face as she showed off her huge diamond ring which was custom-designed at Jewelry Palace - a family owned company in Los Angeles. Meanwhile Preye, who has been dating the singer since 2021, cut a dapper figure as he made a speech to mark the occasion. The couple looked happier than ever as they slow danced surrounded by rose petals and candles while their guests cheered. @feybakare1 Whenever you spoke about her, I knew you really loved her. It was very clear from the start, just how deeply you felt for her. With any and everything you did, you put her first and I learnt a lot from you in that sense and I'm blessed to have seen your relationship blossom and fluorish 😁 To happily ever after for you both 😁💍🖤🤞🏾 ♬ Swimming - Flawed Mangoes In the gushing post their friend Fet Bakare wrote: 'Whenever you spoke about her, I knew you really loved her. Sony music A&R Preye also runs the Strawberries & Creem Festival and is the son of former BBC sports pundit Garth Crooks, 66. Meanwhile Mabel is the daughter of Swedish singer Neneh Cherry, who has released six studio albums; the first of which, Raw Like Sushi, reached number three in the UK Albums chart. She has been nominated for a Grammy Award and has two Brit Awards under her belt - and while her daughter Mabel is certainly catching up to her mother, the young singer hasn't quite reached Neneh's heights yet. Her debut single Finders Keepers, released in 2017, reached number eight on the UK Singles Chart. This was followed up two years later with the release of her album High Expectations at number three in the Albums Chart - which later went platinum. In 2020, just three years after bursting onto the scene, she won a Brit Award for British Female Solo Artist. In 2018, her musician mother Neneh spoke about nurturing her daughter Mabel in the music industry, revealing she is in awe of her. The songstress spoke of the then 21-year-old's success and reflected on motherhood, in an interview with the Evening Standard Magazine admitting she wasn't always 'emotionally accessible'. She said: 'Mabel is unbelievable and so focused and it's hard out there. 'She gets up sometimes and she's doing two or three sessions a day. I'm in awe of her and so I try to support her with basic mum things, like making her a take-out lunch.' Mabel previously insisted she doesn't want her parents' help when it comes to her own music career. 'When I was in my teens, and was like, 'I really want to do music',' she told the publication. I felt quite embarrassed by being my mum and dad's daughter. I thought, 'People will never take me seriously'.'

Love Island fans declare they have found the winners after uncomfortable family and friends episode: 'Give them the money now!'

Love Island fans have declared they have found the winners after a very uncomfortable family and friends episode. As the final week kicked off, the Islanders were treated to visits from their loved ones, but the reunions were more frosty than not. Cacherel Mercer's siblings' had an ice cold meeting with Toni Laites before Megan Moore's family grilled her boyfriend Dejon Noel Williams, branding him a 'player'. Things only got more awkward when Shakira Khan's mum gave Harry Cooksley the cold shoulder, refusing to hug him and demanding he prove himself. But there was a glimmer of hope, in the form of Yasmin Pettet and Jamie Rhodes. The pair, who met during Casa Amor and have been loved-up ever since, have been named by fans as this year's winners after their families' sweet interactions. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, they wrote: 'Yas and jamie to win tbh. this family meeting has solidified it for me,'; 'Yas and Jamie are my winners idc,'; 'Give Yas & Jamie that money pleaseeeeee! Pleaseeeeee,'; 'Well that has sealed it for me Yas and Jamie for the win,'; 'Think I have picked my winners now, got to be Jamie and Yas,'; 'My only wins after today is Yas + Jamie. I love Shakira + Toni but their family meet ups just set a tone on their relationships. The others arent even an option,'; 'Well the families opinion reflect the publics this year truly, every couple is a shambles and should not be together except yas and jamie,'; 'If Yas and Jamie don't win that 50k the UK public needs a good head wobble,'; 'So we all agree that Yas and Jamie are winning, right?!' It came after viewers slammed the parents episode for being uncomfortable, as they said: 'No all these parents hate their children's partners,'; 'Meet the family episodes always use to make me cry, this one just made me uncomfortable, quite like this season as a whole,'; Taking to X, formerly Twitter, fans wrote: 'Yas and jamie to win tbh. this family meeting has solidified it for me' 'This has been the most awkward episode of LI I have ever watched. Lol, I'm uncomfortable.' The Islanders' friends and relatives piled into the villa to give their live reactions - as well as some 'needed' candid feedback during the instalment. But viewers were left cringing at one awkward exchange when Cach's siblings, his brother D'Shae and sister Ayjah, entered the house. Fans at home claimed it was 'obvious' the duo didn't like his partner Toni after a series of stern looks were thrown her way. A previous episode saw the couple part ways when Toni decided to recouple with her ex Harrison again, leaving her man Cach in tears as he was forced to partner with Emma - they eventually got back together. But it seems Cach's siblings have not forgiven Toni for the drama, with fans sharing their thoughts on X. During the episode Toni was sitting on the terrace, when suddenly she heard her mum Leslie shout: 'Is Toni here? Where's Toni?' Realising friends and family have come to visit the Villa, she raced down stairs to greet her mum who had flown in from Florida. Her best friend Marielle also made the trip and she joked of being in the Villa: 'It's like meeting our Sims in real life!' As they caught up, talk turned to her daughter's romantic relationships in the Villa, Leslie said: 'The Harrison thing - I'd love to know what voodoo spell he put on you.' 'Sometimes you have to get burned 150 times before you can't get burnt anymore,' Toni replied. Leslie added of Cach: 'You have the most amazing man. His morals, his ethics, his calm demeanour when he is confronted with a bad situation… he is my king.' Meanwhile, Cach caught up with his brother D'Shae and sister Ayjah as they discussed him being upset by Toni and Harrison's actions. Cach admitted: 'You don't understand how embarrassing it was.' His sister said: 'Everyone felt it. It hurt to see you cry,' while his brother D'Shae added: 'I had to look away.' Coleen Rooney has the time of her life as she lifts son Cass, six, on to her shoulders at Together Again Festival

Coleen Rooney had the time of her life as she lifted her youngest son Cass on to her shoulders at Together Again Festival over the weekend. The WAG, 38, and three of her children, Klay, 11, Kit, eight, and Cass, six, joined the crowd at the event held at Bolesworth Castle in Cheshire. The family enjoyed performances from Olly Murs, Jamie Webster and Dizzee Rascal, with Coleen seen singing away in the audience. Sharing a series of photos to Instagram on Monday, she gave an insight into their weekend and joined Jamie for photos backstage. She wrote: 'Thank you for looking after us Together Again Fest… fantastic set up!! 'And thanks for the photos and lovely to finally meet you Jamie Webster…. Kids had a ball. Elsewhere, Coleen's earnings have soared amid her huge TV projects as she looks set to become her family's 'main breadwinner '. The WAG reportedly boasts a net worth of £15million, with her hubby thought to be worth an enormous £170million thanks to his Premier League footballing days. But in the new phase of their lives, Coleen could be set to take over as the main breadwinner as her popularity soars. Amid her skyrocketing fame following her hugely successful I'm A Celeb stint, Disney announced on Monday a new premium access series titled The Rooneys focusing on her and Wayne's life. Thanks to her ventures, new figures for her firm, CWR 2021, up to September 2024 show the booming business already had £580,000 banked - and that was before I'm A Celeb and her Disney deal. Meanwhile former manager of Plymouth Arsenal Wayne was reportedly making £500,000, before leaving the club in December. A financial expert told The Sun: 'These earnings show that, even before Coleen signed up for I'm A Celeb, she was already bringing in more money than Wayne. 'On the back of her jungle stint, where she was incredibly popular with the viewing public, she's now likely to see her earnings soar even further - and the increased interest in Coleen after she did so well on the show is also likely to have sealed the deal on the Disney contract.' They added: 'Getting big bucks from a global streamer, plus her pay cheque from ITV, will no doubt swell the Rooneys coffers even further.' MailOnline has contacted Coleen's representatives for comment. In March, Coleen revealed that she has eclipsed Wayne in popularity after starring on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! Coleen took part on last year's series of the ITV show where she finished as runner up to McFlyn's Danny Jones after winning over a huge number of fans. And the mother-of-four has explained that she now gets even more attention in public than her famous footballer husband. Speaking to The Mirror at an event in Manchester, Coleen admitted she was humbled by the 'positivity' of people coming up to chat to her about her time in the jungle. She said: 'I didn't realise how big the audience was. I get parents come up to me saying "aw, we got our family back together on the couch to watch it" and that's lovely to hear.' Not being able to resist making a brutal dig at her husband, she then joked: 'Even on school runs, Wayne has passed his sell by date so no one has got a clue [about him] But then all of a sudden we get kids going "oh Coleen Rooney!"' Speaking of her popularity, Disney announced on Monday that a new premium access series titled The Rooneys is set to air, and filming is already underway. The ten part doc-series will delve into the footballer and WAG's lives 'like we've never seen them before'. It is set to see Coleen tackle 'new entrepreneurial endeavours' and Wayne stepping away from the football pitch to do school runs. The new show has 'unprecedented access' into their world and dives into their everyday life, including highs like holidays and celebrations as well as the lows.
