4-day traffic curbs from today near Expo Mart
According to deputy commissioner of police (Traffic) Lakhan Singh Yadav, the restrictions are aimed at managing the expected surge in traffic due to "Tent Décor Asia – 2025" and the "India International Hospitality Expo – 2025," both scheduled to run from August 3 to 6. Authorities estimate a daily turnout of 15,000 to 18,000 visitors.
"To ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety, traffic near the Expo Mart Roundabout may be either partially or completely restricted during the event," said Yadav.

Traffic headed from the Galgotia College cut towards IFS Villa via the Expo Mart Roundabout will be diverted. Commuters can instead take alternative routes through NASA Roundabout, Sharda Roundabout, LG Roundabout, Jagat Farm, or the 130-metre road corridor.
Event attendees have been advised to park their vehicles near the NASA/Big Roundabout area. Emergency vehicles will continue to have unhindered access throughout the diversion period.
Both exhibitions are high-profile trade events: Tent Décor Asia focuses on the tent, décor, catering, sound, and lighting sectors, while the India International Hospitality Expo is a B2B platform for stakeholders from the hospitality, food & beverage, and allied service industries. The events will also feature live demonstrations, networking meets, and B2B engagements.
The Knowledge Park area, where Expo Mart is located, houses around 200 educational institutions and caters to nearly one lakh students. The area often experiences severe traffic congestion during international exhibitions and is particularly prone to bottlenecks during peak hours.
With increased traffic anticipated over the next few days, authorities have urged commuters to plan their routes in advance and cooperate with traffic personnel on duty.

Bus bursts into flames at Merces
Panaji: A private tourist minibus caught fire at Merces, Panaji, on Saturday night on its way to Margao railway station. No casualties were reported in the incident. A fire official said they received a call at 2.13am about the fire, which was caused by an air conditioning issue that caused a spark in a tyre. 'The minibus caught fire quite a few hours earlier. There were passengers in the bus at that time,' said the official. He said the driver stopped the bus and asked passengers to get off after noticing it had caught fire, which quickly spread to the rest of the vehicle. 'They tried dousing the fire on their own, but failed. That is when we got the call,' he said. The official added that the bus was destroyed, with the exact cost of the damage still to be determined. The bus owner will visit the Panaji fire station to assess it, he said. Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with Friendship Day wishes , messages and quotes !

Collaboration for future: Isro and India will benefit from Nasa
Artemis signup allows Isro and the fast-growing Indian aerospace sector to bid for Nasa tenders and the famously frugal Indian engineering sector could find opportunities there and pick up new skills Business Standard Editorial Comment Mumbai Listen to This Article The successful launch of the Nisar (Nasa-Isro Synthetic Aperture Radar) satellite from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre marks the second big mission where the two space agencies have joined hands, coming soon after gaganaut Shubhanshu Shukla travelled to the International Space Station on the Axiom 4 mission. This may be the precursor to more cooperation between the agencies, given that India in 2023 signed up for the Artemis Accords. The Artemis Accords provide a common set of principles for civil exploration and use of outer space. While both agencies benefit from cooperation, the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) may benefit
