Although, later on, David says, 'I want to go back to a time when I thought everything would work out for me,' so it's unclear whether they can control their destinations.
A Big Bold Beautiful Journey seems to revolve around the theme of companionship and choosing to be happy in one's life. Although the film allows them to go into their past and maybe learn from it, David's last dialogue in the trailer is about accepting one's reality and sharing it with someone. He says, 'No matter who you are in your life, you just need someone to share it with.'
