Hearts have 'bought into' what McInnes wants, says Findlay

Yahoo9 hours ago
Stuart Findlay says Hearts' comfortable opening day win over Aberdeen was "a really nice first taste of what Tynecastle can offer".
The defender's header late in the second half helped Derek McInnes' side to a 2-0 victory as they look to continue the stellar form they showed in the League Cup group stage.
"Tonight we started the game on the front foot and we were really aggressive," the 29-year-old said.
"I scored my goal at a nice time, it took a bit of sting out of the tie."
The centre-back, who played under McInnes at Kilmarnock, praised the new manager's attitude.
"The manager wants to install a feeling in us of no one wants to come here and play against the Hearts side," Findlay told BBC Scotland.
"Everyone has bought into what he said and what he wants and that has really shown in the performance tonight."
Many fans are anticipating a strong season for the team after minority owner Tony Bloom said they have a "very good chance" of finishing second this season, splitting the Old Firm.
But Findlay said the team are taking each game as it comes.
"The next target for us is to beat Dundee United next week and make sure we start the season with six points, then we'll take it from there."

New Rangers hero does it yet again in UCL with opener vs Viktoria Plzeň 🙌

Djeidi Gassama has only been a Rangers player for a matter of weeks, but he is quickly turning into the club's main man, and certainly the man for the big winger had already grabbed a goal in both legs of the second qualifying round win over Panathinaikos, and made it three on the spin in Europe with a fine opener against Viktoria Plzeň at Ibrox. It was a lovely bit of link play with Cyriel Dessers that allowed the winger the chance to curl the ball home from inside the box to send the home fans wild. It's safe to say he has already paid off the transfer fee paid to Sheffield Wednesday for his services. 📸 Ian MacNicol - 2025 Getty Images

Rangers & Hibs will postpone games if in play-offs

Rangers and Hibernian will both exercise their right to postpone their Scottish Premiership matches on the weekend of 23/24 August if they progress to the play-off stages of European qualifying. Rangers host Viktoria Plzen in the first leg of their Champions League third qualifying round tie on Tuesday - live on BBC Scotland - and Hibs travel to face to Partizan Belgrade on Thursday in the first leg of their Conference League contest. If Rangers go through, their league game with St Mirren - between the two legs of the European tie - will be called off. Should Russell Martin's side go out, the fixture will take place on Sunday, 24 August at 12:00 BST. Hibs are due to play Falkirk on Saturday, 23 August at 17:45, but that game will be off if they get past their Serbian opponents. The match between Dundee United and Aberdeen that weekend has already been postponed to allow Jimmy Thelin's side to prepare for their confirmed Europa League play-off against either FCSB of Bucharest or Kosovan side Drita.
