"This song was love at first harpsichord!" Black Country, New Road return with video for brand new single Besties
London art rockers Black Country, New Road have shared a video for Besties, the first new music from their just-announced third album Forever Howlong, which the band will release through Ninja Tune Records on April 4.
It's the band's first studio release since 2022's Top Five album Ants From Up There, the release of which was somewhat overshadowed by the departure of vocalist Isaac Wood.
Forever Howlong arrives with lead vocal duties now shared between Tyler Hyde, May Kershaw and Georgia Ellery. 'It opened up a real through-line in having three girls singing,' says Ellery. 'It's definitely very different to Ants From Up There because of having that different female perspective – and the music we've made also really compliments that.'
"Besties came into my world with a dance of feelings, with such an understood concept of exploring the core emotion of taking on the world, and its obstacles to be with her, the bestie, again," Ellery continues about the band's new single on which she takes sole lead vocal.
"Building this with the band took me to so many memories, informed by a collective of experiences from my childhood writing letters and maps to my bestie, into formulating our own map and sliding-doors effect narrative - charged with the instinctual punch and intuition of: I need to be with my bestie now. Working with Georgia, May and Tyler was a real treat across their performances especially, and quite literally, running from the more conventional lip-sync world, and injecting cameo moments with Charlie, Lewis and Luke.
"Knee-high in January's jacket of mud, darkness, fields, street corners and a pack of hounds we found the beating heart of a world made better by chasing love and connection. Shooting in these conditions, and having fun is a real testament to a fantastic team and collective of people! It's been such a pleasure, this song was love at first harpsichord!
The sextet have also announced live dates for 2025, including festival dates at Primavera Sound, Paredes De Coura, Lowlands and End Of The Road followed by a full UK and EU tour in September and October, ending eith the band's biggest headline show to date at London's O2 Brixton Academy. You can see all the dates and ticket details below.
Forever Howlong will be available as a standard 2LP on recycled black vinyl, a white label 2LP signed by the band, an Indie exclusive negative effect artworked 2LP, and both a Collector's Edition 2LP with an alternate tracklisting in translucent eco jazz red and a Collector's Edition Cassette, also featuring the alternate tracklisting.

Superman star David Corenswet has a "hot take" on Casino Royale, "the greatest Bond film ever made": "So great to get that off my chest"
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Superman star David Corenswet feels very passionately about James Bond. Well, one movie in particular: Casino Royale, AKA "the greatest Bond film ever made" and "one of the best movies of all time." Released in 2006, Casino Royale was Daniel Craig's first outing as 007. The movie starts with Bond earning his 00 status and "licence to kill" by carrying out his second (and first) kills. But Corenswet has strong opinions about what exactly the film's opener means. "My hot take is, everyone thinks the second kill is when Bond kills the main bad guy in the office later and he's like, 'Yes, considerably,'" he explained during an appearance on Brittany Broski's Royal Court. "But what actually happened is, experientially, Bond already had his second kill because he drowned the guy and then had to shoot him. So, in his experience, he had to go through drowning the guy, thought he was dead, thought that he had had his first kill, and then the guy woke up and he just shot him. So, that's actually the second kill in his mind that was super easy." He's referring to the moment that Bond kills Dryden (Malcolm Sinclair), a crooked MI6 agent, and the flashback sequence when he murders Dryden's contact in Prague. "It's a human experience thing. The point is not the second person you kill, it's the second experience of killing," Corenswet continued, before jokingly adding, "I'm sure you'll cut all that out, but I needed to get it in somewhere. It was not gonna come up anywhere else in press. So great to get that off my chest." Corenswet is currently starring as the Man of Steel in James Gunn's Superman, the first theatrical release in the DCU Chapter One. He stars opposite Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Superman is out now in theaters. The Internet Can't Stop, Won't Stop Making Superman Jokes About Henry Cavill Versus David Corenswet, But This The Substance-Related Post Cracks Me Up
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. With the release of the new Superman movie, it was always going to be the case that fans and critics would compare the new version of the Man of Steel played by David Corenswet to the previous version played by Henry Cavill. Some of the comparisons have been more favorable to one actor over the other, but none have been quite as funny as a viral Twitter post that suggests that David Corenswet is just Henry Cavill after being exposed to The Substance. A viral post on Twitter puts the two Superman actors side by side, in shots where they look remarkably similar, and then includes a line that will be easily recognizable to those who saw The Substance: Have you ever dreamt of a better version of yourself? Younger, more beautiful, more perfect. One single injection unlocks your DNA, starting a new cellular division that will release another version of yourself. This is the Substance. While there's certainly a visual similarity between Henry Cavill and David Corenswet when they're flying around as Superman, you don't actually realize how much Corenswet looks like a young Henry Cavill until you see them outside the costume. One certainly expects the different actors to have played Superman in live-action to look similar. The character has a fairly traditional design after all. They sort of all look alike to one degree or another. Although, if Nicholas Hoult had been cast as Superman, which nearly happened, we wouldn't have quite the similarity that we have here. It seems unlikely Coresnwet's resemblance to Cavill played any real part in his casting, but if we somehow learned that it did, I'm not sure anybody would be shocked. Now that I think about it... has anybody seen Henry Cavill and David Corenswet in the same room? Is it possible that Cavill has taken The Substance and has actually become the new Superman and the two are trading off weeks? Henry Cavill is set to play the Highlander soon, but perhaps he's found a different way to try and be immortal. While I find the post pretty funny, it has to be said that not everybody does. While it's clearly meant as a fun joke pointing out that, more than a decade after Man of Steel, a younger actor of similar build has taken on the iconic role, many seem to feel the post is meant as a specific attack on the older Henry Cavill. Nobody is saying that Henry Cavill doesn't still look amazing. He's aged remarkably well and is still capable of leading major blockbusters – as he's already set to do with future projects including Voltron, Highlander, and the Warhammer franchise he loves so much. Superman is Cavill's past, but it's expected to be David Corenswet's future – and you can see the start of his legacy in theaters everywhere now. Solve the daily Crossword

Selena Gomez Backs the Elegant Sandal Trend Every Well-Dressed Celebrity Is Styling This Summer
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. At this point, Selena Gomez probably requires a separate closet solely for her all-black attire. Based on this year's looks alone, her wardrobe is likely bursting at the seams with noir pieces sourced by stylist Erin Walsh from Jacquemus, Thom Browne, Saint Laurent, and Khaite (to name a few ateliers). To no surprise, this consistent color story stretches onto Gomez's shoe shelves, too. Her newest addition? $890 T-strap sandals, courtesy of Proenza Schouler—a New York-based brand long beloved by Gomez. On July 13, she publicly wore the cable-wrapped kitten heels on the second occasion, at a dinner date with her fiancé, Benny Blanco. Outside Giorgio Baldi (Rihanna's signature Santa Monica spot), the power couple was snapped by the paparazzi in contrasting outfits. Gomez styled her monochromatic look with the aforementioned sandals, which featured flip-flop-esque thongs, leather cables surrounding each upper, and two-inch kitten heels. She's following the leads of Hailey Bieber, Kylie Jenner, and Kendall Jenner, all of whom have co-signed the kitten heel sandal trend this summer. Blanco, on the other hand, went retro in a floral button-down, khakis, and boat shoes. View Deal Gomez's luxe LBDs are the envy of any minimalist, but this time, she chose the staple's business-ready counterpart: a black suit set. On top, the Only Murders star layered a boat-neck blouse underneath a single-breasted blazer. Then, she slipped on flared trousers, also in black, to match. To no surprise, Gomez's estimated $225,000 engagement ring was front and center, and appeared to be her only sparkler that evening. A black patent leather crossbody shined atop her shoulder, while its fringed top-flap closure mimicked her cable-embellished sandals. Sure, Gomez's LBD-less look was surprising, but she's not experiencing mini dress fatigue yet. A few days prior, she celebrated Rare Beauty's new lip gloss in a Self-Portrait fit-and-flare mini dress—the black color-way, of course. She debuted the Proenza Schouler sandals at the beachside soirée, alongside an Ulla Johnson coat and $2,150 Gabriel and Co. hoop earrings. Black-on-black might not be an obvious summer styling selection, but according to Gomez, it's a timeless one. Nearly all of her ensemble could fit in your fall, winter, or spring rotations. (Kitten-heel sandals are definitely reserved for summer.) Shop Matching Pieces Inspired by Selena Gomez View Deal View Deal View Deal View Deal View Deal
