Father Ted star Pauline McLynn joins Coronation Street

Irish actress Pauline McLynn has been cast in Coronation Street as part of a new family who will run local pub the Rovers Return Inn. Catherine Tyldesley's character Eva Price, who was last seen on the show in 2018, will return alongside her latest partner and his mother, who are both new to the cobbles. Shameless actor Aaron McCusker stars as Eva's partner Ben Driscoll, with Father Ted's Pauline McLynn playing his interfering mother Maggie. Ben's two sons and Eva's daughter Suzie will also be joining the cast. Residents will discover that Eva and Ben are the new landlords in October, more than seven years after Eva stopped pulling pints to start a new life in France with her daughter. Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks said: "We are beyond thrilled that Eva is returning as the landlady of the Rovers, with her new blended family in tow. "The Driscolls do not arrive quietly, so expect big drama, explosive secrets and raucous knees ups galore. To have actors of Catherine, Aaron and Pauline's considerable calibre at the beating heart of this family is absolutely wonderful, and we can't wait for you to get to know and fall in love with them as much as we have already done. "Strap yourselves in, it's going to be an exciting and eventful ride." A host of stars have left the British soap this year including Sue Cleaver, who spent 25 years playing Eileen Grimshaw. Among the others who have left are Colson Smith, who played Craig Tinker on the ITV soap opera, and Luca Toolan, who played Mason Radcliffe.

Coronation Street favourite to take a break from the cobbles as she goes on honeymoon ALONE

A CORONATION Street favourite will take a break from the cobbles next week - and for a very strange reason. Bernie Winter - who is played by actress Jane Hazlegrove in the ITV soap - is set to wed partner Dev Alahan this week but things go awry. 2 Bernie will head off on her honeymoon without her new husband Credit: ITV 2 The pair are set to wed this week in Coronation Street Credit: ITV With Bernie left struggling to breathe before the vows, she's rushed to hospital where she's looked at by doctors. And while in the end she's fine, the pair do manage to get married. Next week the stress of everything between Aadi's insurance scam with the help of Brody, begins to get to Bernie. And when Aadi faces police questioning over Lauren being drugged, he's struggling to cope. When he finds out Bernie is trying to get Dev to give Brody a job in the shop, he loses it. Exposing Brody as the one who brought the drugs to the party and is responsible for Lauren's drugging, things hit the skids. At No.7, Bernie tells Dev that they should postpone their honeymoon and he should use the time to build bridges with Aadi. Dev agrees but not about the delayed honeymoon. He insists that Bernie must go alone as the rest will do her good. 'They've lost the plot!' rage Coronation Street viewers as they call out baffling Bernie Winter blunder The pair part - temporarily - on good terms with a passionate kiss as Bernie flies off for her break alone. It's not known when Bernie will return but with her family descending into chaos, it can't be long.

"She'll also be pocketing a pretty penny, celebrities and soap stars make good money doing panto and always look forward to it as some extra income." The official M&S Arena Instagram page shared the exciting news on Monday. Alongside a photo of Helen dressed in an elaborate red sequin dress and tiara with her co-stars, they wrote: "CAST ANNOUNCEMENT. We're thrilled to reveal the magical cast of this year's Christmas panto, Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs at The Auditorium, M&S Bank Arena!" Before the announcement, Helen told The Sun that she was preparing to spent Christmas without her kids and said it would be "difficult". The mum-of-three, who shares Matilda, nine, Delilah, six, and son Charlie, four, with ex Scott Sinclair, opened up about co-parenting. She told The Sun in a recent interview: "It's really difficult. I won't have the kids for Christmas this year because it's such hard work because me and Scott, he's from Bath and I live in North Manchester, so we co-parent five hours away. Really hard work. "And we've done this since Charlie's been born because he was played for Bristol. "But we're very fair, and I try to be fair with Scott, and he tries to be fair with me. So this Christmas, I won't have the kids." Helen Flanagan stuns in lingerie as she cuts final ties with ex Robbie Talbot two months after split But Helen admitted she struggles to be apart from her kids as her and Scott take it in turns over Christmas. I remember the first Christmas, I didn't have the kids. I did say to Scott, look, you have the kids for Christmas, I want to take them to New Year for Bali. "And I just said to my friends, it'll be fine, it'll be fine. But I hated it. "But the Christmas just gone I had them, and I absolutely loved it. "But I know that this Christmas, it's going to be the same where he has them away. "So I've taken on a job to keep me busy. "I'll do something in November - a really nice long weekend then I feel like I've had my Christmas period with them. "It'll be a distraction for me. But I don't think co-parenting is easy. I think it's definitely a journey." Helen and Scott split in 2022 after being together for 13 years.
