Vijay Antony bagged headlines with the raw and thrilling looks from his film Maargan. The movie hit the big screens on June 27, and despite its clash with several other films at the box office, it seems to have already made a strong foothold.
The FDFS of the film has already begun, and social media has now been filled with reviews as netizens reached theaters and gave it a watch.
Maargan Twitter reviews
To begin with, a fair share of audiences have been impressed by the film, especially how it maintains the grip of a thrilling premise from start to finish. There are no jump starts to the film, and audiences are impressed with how it directly continues with the plot.
The lead characters, played by Vijay and Ajay Dhishan, are termed as clean roles, which is something applause-worthy, presented by a debutant director like Leo John Paul. The storyline in the first half of the film is more interesting than the post-interval, as noted by many viewers.
At certain points, the screenplay appears to be lagging and feels disconnected. However, the use of uniform yet ominous background music has compensated for this lack of appeal on some occasions.
The investigative scenes are good, while the second half of the film wraps up to provide closure to the narrative, which is rare in crime thrillers like these. The addition of certain memory flashbacks has also contributed to the progression of the narrative towards the climax.
More about Maargan
Well, the movie is bankrolled under Vijay Antony's own production house and marks his 12th cinematic venture. His nephew and fellow actor Ajay Dhishan has teamed up with him as the antagonist opposite the former's lead role in the film, making his debut.
The movie was initially named Gagana Maargan, and it was only after production was completed that it was renamed Maargan.

Vijay Antony's ‘Shakthi Thirumagan' to clash with Sivakarthikeyan's ‘Madharasi' in September

The makers of Shakthi Thirumagan, Tamil actor Vijay Antony's upcoming film with Aruvi director Arun Prabu Purushothaman, announced on Thursday (July 10) that the film will release in theatres on September 5, clashing with Sivakarthikeyan's Madharasi. Vijay Antony Film Corporation, the banner owned by the actor's wife and producer Fatima Vijay Antony, announced the news on its official X handle. The cast of Shakthi Thirumagan also includes Vaagai Chandrasekar, Sunil Kriplani, Cell Murugan, Trupti Ravindra, and child actor Keshav. Vijay Antony will be handling the music for the film. Cinematographer Shelley Calist and editor Raymond Derrick Crasta, who were a part of Arun's films Aruvi and Vaazhl, are also on board Shakthi Thirumagan. The film will also be released in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam under the title Bhadrakaali. Notably, a controversy had erupted earlier over the ownership of the Telugu title of Shakthi Thirumagan. The film was originally titled Parasakthi in Telugu, which is also the title of Sivakarthikeyan's upcoming film with Sudha Kongara. The producers of the two films later met and resolved the issue, finalising that Sivakarthikeyan's film will be titled Parasakthi in both Tamil and Telugu and that Vijay's film will be titled Shakthi Thirumagan in Tamil and Bhadrakaali in Telugu.

As politicians, bureaucrats, cops and the public wonder who is behind this scam, they realise that they are in the dark and that a man named Kittu is behind it… The teaser does what it is supposed to do. It teases you into wondering what the scam is, how it was pulled off and what repercussions Kittu is likely to face. On the whole, the teaser promises a gripping thriller. Shakthi Thirumagan has been produced by Vijay Antony Film Corporation and features a musical score by Vijay Antony. Raveena Tandon on South cinema's success: Their stories are rooted in culture and heritage

Raveena Tandon is coming back to Tamil cinema after 24 years with Vijay Antony co-starrer Lawyer. Ecstatic about the same, the actor tells us, 'I'm excited and nervous because I know I have to brush up my Tamil all over again.' Raveena Tandon(Photo: Instagram) Apart from Tamil, Raveena Tandon has worked in Telugu and Kannada as well, with KGF Chapter 2 (2022) being her most recent South release. All praise for the South industry, the actor says, 'I have always worked in the south industry, right from the beginning in '92 because I always found their films intriguing. This is not that I'm saying now, you could pick up any of my interviews from the '90s and I have said the same thing. Their stories are so deeply rooted with their culture and heritage, and they are not trying to serve the west. That's why somehow most of their films are hits.' The 52-year-old adds, 'The films that I've done there, they still believe so much in their traditions and rituals. They are rooted at the ground level, which is very important to have a mass connect. They have a ratio of probably more hits, because of the reason that they cater to what their masses want, and they can identify it.' Even after all these years, Raveena is one of those actors who have been able to stay relevant and get offers of meaty roles. Ask her how she has maintained that and she responds, 'Honestly, there's not something that I've consciously done to stay relevant. But in life, even career wise, what matters is the choices that you make and also how you have evolved as a person, that is if you have evolved with the time. It depends on the kind of maturity you have. Some people are still stuck in their way of acting and doing things like how it used to be. But as a human being, you have to evolve first. The choices kind of then automatically happen to you.'
