Strictly Come Dancing star turns down Oasis tour tickets in furious rant

Daily Mirror9 hours ago
A former Strictly Come Dancing contestant has revealed that she doesn't know "anything" about Oasis despite the iconic brothers returning to the stage for the first time in 16 years
Former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Ann Widdecombe wasn't too impressed when she heard Oasis for the first time on today's Jeremy Vine programme, admitting that she wouldn't see them in concert.
The band of brothers are reuniting on stage for the first time in 16 years tonight at Cardiff's Principality Stadium to kick off their highly-anticipated tour.

However, former politician and reality star Ann revealed that she wasn't a fan - and hadn't even heard their music before - while appearing on Jeremy Vine's Channel 5 show.

When Jeremy said that he knew she wasn't impressed by the iconic musicians, Ann said: "I don't know anything about Oasis. My acquaintance with pop music stopped with Cliff Richard and the Shadows."
Ann then listened to the band for the very first time live on-air, with Jeremy placing a pair of headphones and a bucket hat on her head. Listening to Oasis hit Morning Glory, she shook her head before telling Jeremy: "The only thing I could make out there was an exhortation to wake up."
She added: "First of all, the headphones were on over my hat which probably didn't altogether help. Secondly, the only lyric I could make out was 'wake up, wake up'. Morning Glory is the plant that you find in Kenya."
When Jeremy told her that the phrase has other meanings, she said: "Oh has it? I don't want to know anymore."
Jeremy then began to speak to a listener who is heading to the gig tonight and began to ask whether he would take Ann if he had a spare ticket - however, Ann soon interrupted.
"No, no, no, no. I've been to one pop concert in my entire life and that was under duress because my niece could only go if I went with her," she said. "It was Boyzone. I like Shane Lynch because we were in Big Brother together but I would not want to go to a pop concert again.
"It's loud. I had ear muffs, I actually to ear muffs with me and you have to stand up all the time and everybody around you is doing all this nonsense. No."
Thousands of fans are descending on Cardiff for tonight's Oasis return and the band have made a last minute change to their line-up just hours before the gig.
Backing vocalist Jess Greenfield is no longer listed in the tour programme despite being announced to perform with the group.

I went to see Oasis on the opening night of the reunion and this electric moment stood out

I went to see Oasis on the opening night of the reunion and this electric moment stood out The Oasis gig saw Liam and Noel Gallagher back on stage together performing for two hours The once warring brothers are back and better than ever (Image: Samir Hussein/WireImage ) If anyone went to see Oasis' opening night at the Principality Stadium then a huge number of them will come away buzzing. Not just their ears, but the Live '25 reunion tour left many of those who went with a sense of fan fulfillment they waited 16 years, or even their whole life, for. Liam Gallagher promised they'd blow the roof off the Cardiff venue and his promise more or less came true during a stand out moment. Their new live rendition of Rock n Roll Star was an absolute beast of a live track and you could feel the whole stadium pumping. The middle tier was bouncing and the entire venue felt like it was about to take off. Yes, The Masterplan and Live Forever were magical to say the least, Don't Look Back in Anger - a true seminal rock moment of British history, but Liam cracking out his Rock 'N' Roll Star lyrics with the kraaangy guitars bounced off every steel surface it could find, Liam's vocal, breathless and it was just a pounding, baying live version of a song that made you feel dehydrated and dizzy joining in. Newport pubs doing PubLife as Marston's kicks off with Oasis

Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher popped into The Crwys Hotel in Cardiff for a drink on Thursday, July 3, ahead of the band's highly anticipated reunion tour. The appearance was part of a UK-wide '90s-themed celebration organised by Marston's, but all was not quite as it seemed—Gallagher was, in fact, a lookalike brought in to launch the PubLife campaign. John Green, operations director at Marston's, said: "With the Oasis reunion tour kicking off tonight, the UK is really getting back into the nostalgic spirit. "We loved surprising some of our loyal regulars at The Crwys this morning with a visit from Liam and are very much looking forward to keeping locals up and down the country entertained this summer with PubLife. "Whether they bagged Oasis tickets or not, we want as many people as possible to dig out their '90s clobber and head down to their local for some amazing music, entertainment, and classic drinks." PubLife is a summer-long celebration of the '90s taking place in more than 500 Marston's pubs across the UK, including 79 in Wales. Venues will host themed events throughout July and August including tribute bands, Britpop bingo, karaoke, and more. Among the Welsh pubs taking part are Blaina Wharf, Llanwern Bull, and Pen & Wig in Newport. As part of the campaign, Marston's has partnered with Hooch, Pepsi, and Smirnoff to bring back classic '90s drinks including Vodka and Pepsi, Malibu and Pepsi, Bacardi and Pepsi, and Archer's and Lemonade. PubLife is also offering three flavours of Hooch and new cocktails served by the pint or in pitchers to share. For a full list of participating pubs and events, visit the Martson's pubs website.
