Delhi: 23-year-old man found hanging at his home in Vasant Kunj

New Delhi [India], June 29 (ANI): A 23-year-old labourer from Uttar Pradesh was found hanging at Masoodpur village near Vasant Kunj North police station area in Delhi, police said on Sunday.
According to the police, a PCR call was received on Saturday regarding the suicide of a 23-year-old man at Masoodpur Village. The body of the deceased was shifted to Safdarjung Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
The deceased was identified as Uday Bhan, a resident of Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, who had arrived in Delhi around 45-50 days ago with his elder brother Hetram.
Both were employed as labourers at the Delhi Metro construction site, Masoodpur. The deceased worked the night shift, while his brother worked the day shift, police said.
On Saturday, the elder brother noticed through the front window that his brother had hanged himself from the ceiling fan using a muffler-type cloth. The post-mortem was conducted at the Safdarjung Hospital mortuary, and the body was subsequently handed over to the relatives. No foul play was reported or noticed so far.
Further investigation is underway. (ANI)

Amit Shah condoles loss of lives in Telangana chemical factory blast
New Delhi [India], June 30 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday expressed sadness over the blast at a chemical factory in Telangana's Sangareddy, which killed at least 12 people and injured many. He also stated that the NDRF team, along with the local administration, is continuing rescue operations. 'Saddened by the tragic accident in a chemical factory in Sangareddy, Telangana. The NDRF team rushed to the spot immediately and is continuing the rescue operation along with the local administration,' Amit Shah said in a post on X. 'My heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. Praying for the swift recovery of those injured,' Shah added. Earlier in the day, Director General of the Telangana State Disaster Response and Fire Services, Y Nagi Reddy, stated that rescue officials are currently unsure of the number of people trapped under the debris. He added that, according to industrial experts, the blast occurred during the air handling and drying of Microcrystalline cellulose. 'Today, at around 9.48 am, there was a blast in the drying unit at Sigachi Pharma Company. The explosion led to a fire. A total of 12 people have died and 35 are injured in the incident,' Nagi Reddy told reporters after visiting the accident site. 'As per industrial experts, the incident happened during the air handling/drying of Microcrystalline cellulose. We are currently unsure of the number of people under the debris,' he added. Rescue operations, including those by NDRF, are currently underway. Telangana Ministers Venkatswamy and Damodar Raja Narasimha also visited the site today. Speaking to the media, Venkatswamy said that currently, 12 people are in critical condition, whose treatment is underway. 'Nearly 63 people reported for work at this factory this morning. Initially, it was said that a reactor blast had occurred in the factory. We have just visited the site, and we now know that it was not a reactor blast,' he said. 'The factory incharge also lost his life in the accident. There is no one here who can tell what exactly happened out of the 63 people who reported here in the morning. We have learned that eight people have died. Right now, four more bodies have been recovered. Twelve people are critical with burn injuries. The remaining 22 people have 20-25% burns and are receiving treatment. We will get more clarity in the next one or two hours,' he added. (ANI)

"Complete failure of law and order": BJD holds protest in Odisha after assault on Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation official
Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], June 30 (ANI): Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leaders and workers staged a protest in Bhubaneswar on Monday, following the assault on Ratnakar Sahoo, the Additional Commissioner of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), inside his office. BJD leader Ashok Panda described it as a 'barbaric act' and blamed the government for the complete breakdown of law and order. He said if officers are not safe, then common people are also at risk, and demanded the arrest of the main person behind the attack. Speaking to ANI, Panda said, 'This is a barbaric act. This is a complete failure of law and order. This city has always promoted peace and non-violence. Right under the nose of the CM, who is also the Home Minister, goons have ransacked the BMC office and brutally assaulted an Odisha Administrative Services officer. This is condemnable. When the officers are not safe, then what about the common man? This is a failure like the Puri car festival of the present government. The main conspirator should be arrested.' Congress MP Saptagiri Ulaka accused the BJP of allowing 'gunda raj' in Odisha and stated that the government is unable to handle law and order. He urged the Chief Minister to take immediate action. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sorrow over the loss of lives in the explosion and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakhs for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund. In a social media post on X, the Prime Minister's Office wrote, 'Anguished by the loss of lives due to a fire tragedy at a factory in Sangareddy, Telangana. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000.' (ANI)
