College football analyst predicts big win by Texas over Ohio State in Week 1
A new preseason prediction piece from CBS Sports emphatically picks Texas to beat the Buckeyes on Aug. 30. College football analyst Brad Crawford, who projects the first loss by each team in the Big Ten, says Ohio State has had too many changes since lifting the national title trophy to compete with Texas.
"Two new coordinators. A first-year starting quarterback. A rebuilt defensive front seven. It might take time for the reigning national champions to gel, but there's no easing in -- not with Texas coming to town. Indeed, putting in a new system on each side of the ball is difficult. On offense, new coordinator Brian Hartline will most likely continue the concepts that made the Buckeyes offense successful last season under Chip Kelly.
On defense, Ohio State brings in Matt Patricia. The longtime defensive coordinator in New England during the Patriots dynasty and former Detroit Lions head coach will bring a new scheme to Columbus.

While Texas might have issues figuring out the Ohio State defensive schemes on the fly, the Buckeyes might be struggling with its implementation in the first game of the year.
OSU will be a tough challenge for Texas. But it goes both ways. The Buckeyes have their hands full with UT.

Countdown to Kickoff: Emmett Mosley V
Texas had star transfer WRs the past two season with Adonai Mitchell and Matthew Golden. Could Mosley follow their lead and become a star for Texas? The Texas portal class was tons of defensive tackles, special teamers and a single WR that was added in the spring window. That guy is Emmett Mosley V, coming in from Stanford after a very productive freshman season. He is joined by another transfer pass catcher in Jack Endries, but Mosley steps into a room with a multitude of opportunities. How will he fit? 2024 Stats: 48 catches, 525 yards(10.9 yards/catch), 6 TDs Mosley was a very productive freshman for the Cardinal, only trailing Elic Ayomanor in receiving yards. Ayomanor has since moved onto the NFL and the Longhorns were able to snag Mosley late in the process. He fits into the Texas offense perfectly. Last year, he did a ton of his damage after the catch, very comfortable catching screens and making something happen after the catch. That doesn't take away from his 50/50 ball ability. At 6'2', 205 lbs, he is also a massive plus blocker outside, which is a must in the Texas offense. The next question is can they get Matthew Golden production from him? The good news is I don't think they will need it, with Wingo and Moore setting up to lead the way, but Mosley could be a massive factor. He figures to be a starter come Week 1, and while much of the Buckeyes attention will be paid to Ryan Wingo, Mosley could be set up for success early and often. While only playing in nine games a year ago, he was able to go over 100 yards twice. He truly broke out in the Louisville game, where he caught 13 passes for 168 yards and 3 scores. He totaled 332 of his 525 yards and 5 of his 6 TDs in the final three games of the season. He has already gotten rave reviews early in fall camp as he continues to get comfortable in the offense. Stanford transfer WR Emmett Mosley went through his first practice for Texas today taking second-team reps. Expect him to help the perimeter blocking for the Longhorns in addition to his receiving skills. #HookEm Sarkisian and company have always approached the transfer portal selectively. They will go all in on a position of need, but are very specific about adding to rooms they already like. This staff seems to feel very confident in the young WR core they have, but the addition of Mosley seems to be the perfect fit into this room. Only time will tell how impactful of an addition Mosley will be, but all signs point positively. His strengths fit the Texas offense very well, he fills a perceived hole in red zone 50/50 balls and brings more experience(while still young) into a room that needs it. As important of an addition Mosley could be, the guy we will get to tomorrow figures to be even more important. Jack Endries comes in as one of the top TEs in the country and figures to fill the Gunnar Helm void in the Texas offense. We will talk about why he is the perfect fit to do that tomorrow. Former Texas players on the 2025 Longhorns' schedule
As Texas heads into the 2025 season, they are slated to face a number of familiar faces. Leading the way, a trio of former Longhorns will be waiting for Texas in Starkville later in the year. In one of the final games of last season, Texas ran into Arizona State and a number of former Longhorns, Zac Swanson, J'Mond Tapp, Troy Omeire and Prince Dorbah. They've had a number of former Longhorns move on to other Power 4 programs and a few that even found their way to other SEC programs. That movement is lessened, because of the rule that intra-conference transfers in the SEC can only occur during the winter window. Despite that, Texas will run into several familiar faces in the 2025 season, but it will take until October 25th, when they go to Starkville. There are a trio of former Longhorns on the Bulldogs this year that figure to play big roles. Brenen Thompson is further removed from his time at Texas, with a stop at Oklahoma in between. He has now found his way to Mississippi State and could very well end up being WR1 for the Bulldogs. On defense, you have two rotational pieces in Jaray Bledsoe up front and Derion Gullette that should play a role in that defense. The following week, Texas returns home against Vanderbilt and will welcome a former Longhorn back to Austin. Aaron Bryant found his way to Nashville this offseason and figures to play a large role in their defensive front. Bryant only totaled one tackle a year ago for Texas, but was a top 10 prospect in Mississippi coming out of high school. We will see if he can reach that potential for the Commodores. Texas gets a brief hiatus from seeing former players against Georgia and Arkansas, but they are quickly back to it for the Lone Star Showdown. Amari Niblack, the former transfer into Texas from Alabama, has made his way to College Station for the 2025 season. He is in great position to be the starter for Texas A&M to start the season, and could put together his best season yet. We will know going into that one how much Niblack will factor in, but he could be a major part of the gameplan for the Aggies this year. That does it for the former Longhorns that are set in stone on Texas' schedule, but there are a couple more they could run into late on. In a possible SEC title, they could very well see Sydir Mitchell and LSU or Jalen Catalon and Missouri. If Texas makes their third playoff in a row, there are plenty of other names that could factor into this equation. In the transfer portal world, there have been a number of 'homecoming' games in the last few years. Texas is slated to have a number of those this upcoming season, with Mississippi State being something of a reunion. We will see how much some of those players factor into the equation for their new teams, but it will be nice to see some familiar faces facing the Longhorns in 2025.
