2 Bangladeshi women held for illegal stay
Pune: The Ambegaon police on Thursday arrested two Bangladeshi sisters, aged 30 and 38, for residing illegally in India. Along with them, the police also arrested the husband of one of the women, who allegedly assisted them in acquiring forged documents, including Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, and Voter ID cards, from Bihar. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The man hails from Nalanda district in Bihar. The arrests were carried out by a team from the Ambegaon police station, led by Senior Police Inspector Sharad Zine. The officer said that a special branch of the Pune police was alerted by their counterpart in Hyderabad about a woman from Ambegaon who frequently visited Bangladesh. The police found that the woman obtained an Indian passport in July 2022. "We found that the woman was not staying at that address. We traced the woman to another address. We also found one more woman and a man in that flat. The woman told us that she is an Indian national and showed us her Aadhaar card and PAN card. Another woman, aged 38, also showed us her documents and told us that the man is her husband," the officer said. He said that when the police team carried out searches in the flat, they found a Bangladeshi passport belonging to the 38-year-old woman. "Both the women were sisters," he said. The officer said that investigations revealed that the 30-year-old woman came to India in 2018, and her sister came to India in 2004. Both sisters were involved in prostitution. "The elder sister married a man from the Nalanda district in Bihar. The latter helped the sisters obtain Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, and Voter IDs by submitting fake documents," the officer said. He said that the younger sister obtained the Indian passport and frequently travelled to Bangladesh and other countries. "We have arrested the Bangladeshi women for staying illegally and the man for helping them obtain the documents," he said.

Kingpin Vinod Kumar Sahay arrested from Ranchi for Rs 33 cr GST fraud using fake entities
Bhopal: In a major crackdown, Madhya Pradesh's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has unearthed a well-organised GST fraud that involved illegally availing and transferring Input Tax Credit (ITC) worth more than Rs 33 crore. The operation, which spanned cities across Jabalpur, Bhopal, Indore, and other regions, was run by an inter-state gang allegedly led by Vinod Kumar Sahay, also known by his alias N K Khare. He was arrested from Ranchi, Jharkhand on June 25 and has been remanded to police custody. According to EOW officials, the gang created dozens of bogus firms using forged identities and documents of unsuspecting individuals. These entities existed only to generate fake GST invoices, which were used to wrongfully claim ITC — causing massive losses to the exchequer. Between 2019 and 2020, the prime accused Vinod Sahay is alleged to have approached several individuals in Jabalpur — including Pratap Singh Lodhi, Deendayal Lodhi, Ravikant Singh, and Nilesh Patel — under the pretext of helping them obtain business loans. He claimed GST registration was essential and collected personal documents like Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, photos, land records, electricity bills, and their bank account details. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Invertir con Cervecería Nacional CFD, si tienes 30 o más, puede alegrar tu cuenta bancaria Empieza a invertir hoy Inscríbete ahora Undo Using this data, he fraudulently registered several fake firms: M/s Maa Narmada Traders (in the name of Pratap Singh Lodhi), M/s Namami Traders (Deendayal Lodhi), M/s Maa Reva Traders (Ravikant Singh) and M/s Abhijeet Traders (Nilesh Kumar Patel). Sahay kept full control over these entities by managing their mobile numbers, email IDs, login credentials, bank accounts, and official letterheads. Investigation revealed that none of these firms were engaged in any real trade. However, they generated fake GST invoices showing massive outward supplies and transferred ITC to other firms without any actual movement of goods or services. The probe revealed that this fraud extended far beyond these four firms. Additional entities in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra were either shell firms or indirect beneficiaries: K D Sales Corporation (Indore): Fake billing worth Rs 64.38 crore; ITC passed on Rs 17.70 crore and Mehak Enterprises (Bhopal): Fake ITC of Rs 1.20 crore through non-existent trade Other firms under the scanner include Jagdamba Coal Carriers, Mahamaya Traders, Dilip Traders, Ankita Steel & Coal, Amber Coal Depot, Anam Traders, and Koraj Technics. Many of them were shown as buyers or suppliers in these fake invoice chains. Vinod Sahay is also a listed director in companies such as Citron Minerals Pvt. Ltd., Garrison Coal Pvt. Ltd., Arya Coal Trading Pvt. Ltd., VK Minerals Pvt. Ltd., and JMSD Allops Pvt. Ltd., which are now being examined for similar fraudulent activities. After gathering bank trail data and technical intelligence, EOW traced Sahay to Ranchi, where he had relocated and started a coal business under a new name. He was arrested on June 25 and brought to Jabalpur. He was produced before a special court and has been sent to police remand till July 2, 2025.

Three B'deshis held for illegal stay in Ahilyanagar for 2 years
Pune: In a joint operation with the Military Intelligence (MI) of the Southern Command, Ahilyanagar police on Friday arrested three Bangladesh nationals for illegally staying in the Pokhardi industrial zone for the last two years. The police and the MI are searching for an agent named 'Pappu', who has been allegedly facilitating illegal immigrants from the India-Bangladesh border for the last few years. The arrested suspects managed to obtain Aadhaar and PAN cards at a centre in Thane district. "We are investigating how they managed to make such original-looking documents. With these documents, they could open their bank accounts. We are trying to establish how these immigrants come in contact with the local industries where they have been working for the last few months," said senior inspector Manik Chaudhari from the MIDC police station, where an FIR has been lodged. The accused have been identified as Jahangir Abutaher Sheikh (34), Hanif Abdul Khalid Sheikh (40) and Musharraf Sheikh (40)—all natives of Hajiganj, Chattogram, Bangladesh. Joint interrogation is currently underway to ascertain any links to anti-national elements (ANEs) or wider networks of illegal immigration. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Pessoas com dores no joelho devem ler isto Receita Anti-Dores Undo "Our investigation has so far established that they did not visit any defence establishment in Ahilyanagar. We are investigating their motive behind illegally staying in the state," added Chaudhari. Explaining the modus operandi, a senior police officer said, "We came to know that the agents have been operating from small towns and cities of Maharashtra and other states in bringing illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. They have established their network in Kolkata and other towns across the country. Once they manage to bring them to India, these illegal immigrants stay for a few weeks in Kolkata and then move to other cities in the country. " "These agents, with the help of their network in towns and cities, manage to secure their basic documents. Within a few months, they create Aadhaar and PAN cards for the immigrants. They charge a hefty amount from these immigrants," added the officer.
