Suki Waterhouse taken to hospital after wearing pants too tight
Actress and singer Suki Waterhouse has revealed that she was hospitaliSed six months ago due to a hernia caused by wearing a pair of pants that were far too tight on her.
The 33-year-old British performer and actress made the announcement via X (formerly Twitter) on Monday as she shared two contrasting photos. Suki shared one from a live performance on her Memoir of a Sparklemuffin tour, and another showing her lying in a hospital bed with earphones and a vape in hand.
In the caption, the Daisy Jones And The Six star addressed her lengthy absence from the social media platform, as she captioned the post: "Suki you never tweet anymore" - have you ever considered I wore pants so tight 6 months ago it caused a hernia and I've been too scared to tell you.'
In the hospital photo, the mum-of-one was seen holding a small blue vape pen, which caught the attention of a follower who commented: 'Vape in the hospital is diabolical.' To which the singer replied: 'So true.'
Several other fans responded with a more light-hearted approach and others shared their support. One wrote: 'LMAO!!! That was me after surgery a few weeks ago. Vape in hand.' Another added: 'Vape on the hospital bed so true girlfriend.'
Someone else commented: "Suki you are THAT girl. But publicly announcing that you vaped in a hospital bed is even shocking for my standards. Girl, I beg you to think about your digital footprint."
Suki's health revelation comes over a year after she and actor Robert Pattinson welcomed their first child in March 2024. The couple has not shared their daughter's name publicly, but the 39-year-old Twilight star and Suki have been together since 2018 and are believed to be engaged.
Speculation around their engagement began in 2023 when the actress was seen wearing a diamond ring. In November of that year, she confirmed her pregnancy during a performance at the Corona Capital Festival in Mexico.
'I'm extra sparkly today because I thought it might distract you from something else going on,' she told the audience at the time before opening her coat to reveal her blossoming baby bump.
In April 2024, Suki posted a photo on Instagram cradling her newborn, writing: 'Welcome to the world angel,' accompanied by a red heart emoji.
She later confirmed the birth of a daughter during her Coachella set, telling the crowd: 'Some pretty big events have been going down. I love amazing ladies and I've been very lucky to have my own little amazing lady and meet the love of my life.'
Speaking to British Vogue last year, she offered rare insight into her personal life, describing Pattinson as 'the dad I could have hoped for.' She added: 'I mean a dad and his daughter? It's an actual love story.'

John Torode 'blindsided' by BBC sacking him from MasterChef in the most brutal way
Chef John Torode was reportedly axed from MasterChef yesterday after BBC boss Tim Davie said no star was bigger than the show - and it's now emerged how John found out Masterchef's John Torode was left in shock yesterday after he found out he had been unceremoniously dropped from the popular cooking series, having discovered his fate on the BBC website. The unexpected ousting followed comments from BBC boss Tim Davie, who stated that no presenter is bigger than the show itself, as reported by The Sun. The famed cook, aged 59, was reportedly devastated when the BBC and production company Banijay confirmed his sudden exit amid allegations of racist language, coming in the wake of the explosive Gregg Wallace scandal. An insider disclosed: "John had no idea. He was blindsided." In a remarkable turn of events, it emerged that the Aussie chef's representative was given a mere 11 minutes' heads-up before the news was made public, reports the Express. An source shared: "John's agent received a call 11 minutes before the statements went out and hadn't had a chance to call him. "He read about it on the BBC News website. Obviously he's heartbroken. "He feels he's been made a scapegoat off the back of the Gregg Wallace report." Despite the controversy, Torode took to Instagram with a resolute message: "Although I haven't heard from anyone at the BBC or Banijay - I am seeing and reading that I've been 'sacked' from MasterChef and I repeat that I have no recollection of what I'm accused of. "I have loved every minute working on MasterChef, but it's time to pass the cutlery to someone else." The shocking report into the conduct of MasterChef co-host Gregg Wallace, 60, validated an astonishing 45 out of 83 complaints dating from 2005 to 2024, culminating in his own spectacular downfall. As we disclosed yesterday, BBC executives had insisted at the weekend that Torode step down, alleging he was grappling with mental health problems. He declined to do so.

Adolescence actor, 15, nominated for Emmy
The 15-year-old star of British drama Adolescence has been nominated for an Emmy. Owen Cooper becomes the youngest actor ever to be nominated in his category. His performance as a troubled schoolboy arrested for murder is a contender for the outstanding support actor award in a limited series. Cooper was 14 when he filmed the Netflix drama as Jamie Miller and had never acted professionally before. The performance was all the more remarkable because each episode was shot in one continuous take and the scenes were semi-improvised. His rivals in the category include the Oscar-winner Javier Bardem and Cooper's Adolescence co-star, Ashley Walters. The drama has a total of 13 nominations, including best actor for Stephen Graham and outstanding limited series. Written by Jack Thorne, the drama has been watched 142.6 million times, according to Netflix. It was made by Brad Pitt's production company, Plan B, which is in discussions about the possibility of a second series, which will feature different characters but 'stay true to its DNA'. The drama sparked such conversation that Sir Keir Starmer invited its makers to Downing Street and welcomed a move by Netflix to make the series available to screen in secondary schools. Other British nominees include Sir Gary Oldman for Slow Horses and Aimee Lou Wood for The White Lotus, while other shows picking up multiple nominations included Severance, The Bear and Bad Sisters. The latest series of Black Mirror was nominated for outstanding limited series, with American actress Rashida Jones in the running for outstanding actress in a limited or anthology series or movie for her role in it. Irish actress Sharon Horgan was nominated for outstanding lead actress in a drama series for Bad Sisters, while Irish actor Colin Farrell received a nomination for The Penguin. The 77th Emmy Awards will take place in September.

'Something must change now after my daughter, 12, was embarrassed by her school'
Courtney Wright was removed from the Culture Celebration Day at Bilton School in Rugby, Warwickshire "without saying a single word," a move which has outraged dad Stuart Field A furious dad has demanded "something must change" as his 12-year-old daughter was taken out of a diversity class after wearing a Union Flag dress. Stuart Field, 47, believes "people have had enough about being told what they can and can't do" after the school's decision to put Courtney Wright into isolation upset the family and the wider community. Although Bilton School in Rugby, Warwickshire, has since apologised, a spokesperson for Keir Starmer has insisted "being British is something to be celebrated." Pupils with St George's flags and Welsh flags were also turned away from the school gates, Mr Field added. In a new video, the dad said: "What happened on Friday should not happen to any child in the UK. It has caused a lot of upset in the UK, I think people have had enough about being told what they can and can't do when they are being proud to celebrate their own culture and own history. I don't think this is going to end anytime soon, unless something changes." Mr Field, who works in marine restoration, did not state what exactly he feels needs to change. However, he stressed he is confident the backlash the school has faced reflects fury across society at the issue. The school, rated as Good by Ofsted, had billed the day as a opportunity for pupils to wear attire reflecting their nationality or family heritage, rather than a school uniform. Not long after Courtney arrived in the Spice Girls-esque dress, the youngster was booted out classes "without saying a single word" and was not allowed to make her inclusive speech about the importance to her of being British, which referenced drinking tea, fish and chips and values of fairness and politeness. "Courtney was so embarrassed and couldn't understand what she'd done wrong. She should not be made to feel embarrassed about being British. She shouldn't be punished for celebrating being British culture and history - nobody else I've spoken to can quite get their heads around it," dad-of-five Stuart, from Coventry, West Midlands, said. "Somebody at the school has politicised a Union Jack dress even though that was clearly not Courtney's intent. Courtney didn't do anything to be political. It's about being British, the Spice Girls and even the freedom of being able to wear a dress. This was her interpretation of British culture and what it means to her." A statement issued on behalf of the school by the Stowe Valley Multi Academy Trust said: "On Friday 11th July, an incident occurred during our Culture Celebration Day that caused considerable upset to one of our pupils, her family, and members of the wider community. "We deeply regret the distress this has caused and offer our sincere and unreserved apologies. We have since spoken directly with the pupil and her family to listen to their concerns and reflect on how this could have been handled better. "We are committed to learning from this experience and ensuring that every student feels recognised and supported when expressing pride in their heritage." The statement, which said the school was proud of the diversity of its students and the rich heritage they bring to the community, added: "As a school, we are reviewing our policies and strengthening staff training to ensure our practices reflect our values of inclusion, respect, and understanding for all. We are committed to fostering an environment where every pupil feels respected, valued, and included."
