2 Broncos Super Bowl champions star in 'Match Point' mockumentary
Former Broncos defensive back Omar Bolden and ex-tight end Vernon Davis star in the comedy series Match Point, which will debut on Apple TV and Prime Video on Feb. 11.
The mockumentary was created Sports Emmy-nominated director Joslyn Rose Lyons and Davis served as one of the show's executive producers.
'Match Point centers on Max (Davis) and Anthony (Bolden), two former tennis stars who co-host a new podcast together,' according to a press release from the show. 'The series follows their behind-the-scenes efforts to launch the podcast alongside a high-strung producer (Ashley Haas) and a ratings-obsessed talent booker (Rob Gordon), all while dealing with pushy executives and a dysfunctional crew.'

Davis, 41, played with the Broncos in 2015, the year they won Super Bowl 50. Bolden, 36, played in Denver from 2012-2015, winning a ring alongside Davis. The first two episodes of their new show will be available to stream on Apple TV and Prime Video on Tuesday.

Alien: Earth is one of my five must-see TV shows in August
August is, famously, when the summer movie season starts to draw to a close. Thankfully, TV doesn't have those same lull periods, meaning that there's plenty to look forward to on the small screen in the month of August. I'm particularly excited about Alien: Earth, which will be the first TV show in the Alien franchise and also the first thing in this universe to be set on Earth. Alien: Earth is far from the only thing to be excited about in August, though. Here are five shows I'm particularly looking forward to watching. Chief of War (August 1) This Apple TV+ original is another partnership between Jason Momoa and the studio. This time, Momoa plays a Hawaiian war chief tasked with uniting the tribes of the disparate islands so that they can face off with the colonizers who are threatening their way of life. Recommended Videos The show's cast is composed almost entirely of native Hawaiian actors, and it could be a fascinating look at a part of America that many Americans don't spend much time thinking about. Hopefully, it's a little bit better than See. Chief of War will be available on Apple TV+. Wednesday season 2, Part 1 (August 6) Wednesday was a phenomenon following its first season, and this follow-up is will try to recapture that same enthusiasm. The show, a twist on The Addams Family, primarily follows their daughter, Wednesday, as she is shipped off to boarding school and must make her way through regular teenage life. The show made a star out of Jenna Ortega, and season 2 promises to be even bigger and more star-studded than the first installment. Whether that means it will be better is anyone's guess. Wednesday will be available on Netflix. Alien: Earth (August 12) One of the great mysteries this summer is Alien: Earth, which brings the xenomorph to Earth for the very first time. Plus, the Alien franchise makes its debut on television. While it seems impossible to live up to the best of what this franchise can offer, Alien: Earth will follow a young woman who joins up with a group of tactical soldiers to investigate the crash of a space vessel onto Earth. What they find (which is probably an alien) is left a mystery, but Alien: Earth could expand on the world of the Alien movies in fascinating ways, even if it's not quite as good as that first movie. Alien: Earth will be available on Hulu. Peacemaker season 2 (August 21) Following the success of Supermanin theaters, interest in the new DCU has never been higher. Peacemaker season 2 may reveal more about where this universe is headed, but just as importantly, it will hopefully be an excellent continuation of the show's remarkable first season. The brilliance of John Cena's central performance is worth plenty of praise, but James Gunn managed to find exactly the right supporting cast to put around him. Here's hoping the lore of the DCU doesn't overwhelm a character that's at his best when he's ignoring the rules altogether. Peacemaker will be available on HBO Max. Eyes of Wakanda (August 27) While the DCU might emerge as a real threat to Marvel's supremacy, Eyes of Wakanda could be proof that Marvel still has a few cards left to play. This animated series seems like it will be largely disconnected from the rest of the MCU, as it tells the story of Wakandan warriors who travel around the world to recover vibranium artifacts. The animation looks beautiful, and Ryan Coogler's involvement is a good sign that this show will be a reflection of the Wakanda we've fallen in love with on the big screen. Eyes of Wakanda will be available on Disney+.

Tracee Ellis Ross Rejected Oprah Winfrey Calling Her The "Poster Child For Singledom": "I Don't Want To Be That"
Tracee Ellis Ross is reflecting on Oprah's comments about her ongoing single status. The moment came in an episode of Tracee's new series, Solo Traveling With Tracee Ellis Ross, which finds the Emmy-winning actor exploring the joys of the world as a single and childless woman. Reflecting on the freedom of solo travel, Tracee said, "So much of what traveling is about, is for me, not waiting for something in order to walk towards my life, in order to be in my life, in order to experience my life. I think that was why I took my first trip solo. And I know that in some ways — I mean, Oprah said it. She said that I'm the poster child for singledom. I don't want to be that." Instead, Tracee prefers to reframe the conversation as someone living on their own terms and not waiting for traditional things to add value and meaning to their life. "I want to be the poster child for being an inhabitant in your own skin," Tracee said. "For living in your own skin." Although some might see being single and childless at an older age as a negative, Tracee, 52, says it has afforded her a freedom and an experience that she might not have otherwise had. "Yes, I am a single Black woman who does not have children, but not having a relationship — long, long relationships — not having children has allowed me to explore things of my own humanity," she reflected. "It has deposited me here at 52 in an extraordinary experience that is filled with joy, loneliness, grief, exuberance, delight, like, literally all of it. And I feel available to it." While Tracee didn't specify when Oprah's comments occurred, they appear to be from a 2020 interview on her Your Live in Focus series, where Oprah told Tracee how many single women view her as "an example of what being an unmarried woman could and should look like." When asked if she ever imagined playing that role, Tracee laughed, "No. I, like many of us, was taught to grow up dreaming of my wedding, not of my life." She added, "I spent many years dreaming of my wedding, and also, waiting to be chosen. Well, here's the thing. I'm the chooser. And I can choose to get married if I want to, but in the meantime, I am choicefully single, happily, gloriously single." She repeated that message in a 2021 interview with Harper's Bazaar: "People are like, 'You're the poster child for being single.' And I was like, 'Great.' But what I would prefer is that I'm the poster child for living my life on my terms. And that there's a version of that for everyone. I don't live my life for other people. 5 takeaways from Day 2 of Broncos training camp
Following light acclimation days last Wednesday and Thursday, the Denver Broncos officially kicked off training camp with practices on Friday and Saturday -- without pads. The first four sessions were meaningful, but things will heat up when the pads come on Monday. 'Well, they all mean something," Broncos coach Sean Payton said after Saturday's practice. "I think a lot is you're just slowly building up a resume of what you're doing technique-wise. When you get into full pads, guys will play differently or step up a little differently and you get maybe a cleaner evaluation. It's probably more relative to the interior lines, but it all goes into the process.' It's hard for running backs to stand out without pads. It can be difficult for defensive linemen and offensive linemen to engage safely without pads. And heavy hitters like linebacker Dre Greenlaw hold back. That changes Monday. "He's impressive when you put the tape on," Payton said of Greenlaw. "Monday will come with the pads and there are certain players that really express themselves in the full gear, and he'll be one of them.' With that, here are five quick takeaways from Saturday's session ahead of the big day Monday. Broncos training camp takeaways Day 2 1. Broncos injury report: Right tackle Mike McGlinchey (undisclosed) observed practice Saturday while wearing a sleeve on his right leg. Wide receiver A.T. Perry (ankle) remains on the physically unable to perform list. Linebacker Drew Sanders (undisclosed) was carted off the field. Payton said Sanders is undergoing an MRI. Veteran receiver Courtland Sutton "did individual drills but did not take a rep in 11-on-11," according to the Denver Post's Parker Gabriel. 2. Adam Gase has been around, but not in an official role: Gase, who worked his way up from wide receivers coach to quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator during his time in Denver (2009-2014), has been around the team and talking with their quarterbacks and QBs coach Davis Webb. Payton explained after Saturday's practice that Gase is the son-in-law of senior defensive assistant Joe Vitt, but has not joined the Broncos' staff. "It's good to see him out here," Payton said of Gase. "I know he worked here for quite some time. He's not helping in any official capacity or anything like that, but he's welcome to come out and he's always been a good resource, someone that has seen a lot of football.' 3. Bo Nix discusses visit with Drew Brees: Last week, Payton revealed that Nix traveled to San Diego to spend time with Brees during the offseason. That was, of course, one of the first topics when Nix spoke to media members after Day 2 of camp. 'It was fun," Nix said. "Any time you can spend some time with a guy like that, with that experience and just that mind and the knowledge of the game. Just his routine and what he was able to do. More than anything, it was just sitting down and talking to him. A lot of guys are like that. Peyton [Manning] and Eli [Manning] are the same way. Anytime you can pick those guys' brains, and just kind of stand in their shoes and see what they went through and if you can pick up on any one thing that's a win in the conversation.' Brees won a Super Bowl with Payton and the New Orleans Saints. Peyton won titles with the Indianapolis Colts and Broncos, and Eli won two Super Bowls with the New York Giants. Going into his second year in the NFL, Nix has been soaking up all the advice he can get from the QBs he grew up watching. 4. No official stadium update: Earlier this month, Denver Mayor Mike Johnston hinted that Broncos stadium news could be coming soon. Team president Damani Leech pushed back on that notion Saturday. '[We're] certainly aware of all the media coverage here recently," Leech said. "We share in the excitement and interest that it's generated among the fans. We appreciate it. It's good for us to learn what some of the fans say and hear in response to some of those media reports. But, no, I wouldn't say any decision is made. It's a very comprehensive, long-term process that we're going through. We're trying to be very deliberate about it. [There's] still no determination about whether it's a new stadium or whether it's a renovation or the location that it's in, a lot of work to go there.' There has been widespread speculation that the team will end up building a new stadium (perhaps at Burnham Yard), but the team insists no big decisions have been made yet, and all options remain on the table. 5. New uniform combinations coming in 2025: Leech is not ready to announce any stadium news, but he did break news about uniforms earlier this year. Teams now have four opportunities to wear alternate/throwback uniforms (up from the limit of three last year), and there is more flexibility for the combinations a team can use (such as Denver's alternate white helmet being worn with a non-alternate jersey). 'I think I inadvertently broke some news with you guys at the league meeting in March around uniform flexibility, which we're certainly excited about," Leech said Saturday. "We'll be releasing our uniform schedule here shortly, and what you guys will see, what the fans will see, is greater combinations. Certainly, the use of our throwbacks, we'll have the opportunity to wear that one more time if we want to, and then mixing and matching, particularly the helmets and the jerseys. That flexibility I'm excited to see.' Leech said the uniform schedule will be released "shortly," so that's something for fans to monitor. Meanwhile, players will be back on the field Monday as camp continues with six consecutive practices on deck before another day off next Sunday (view the full training camp schedule).
