Detroit Pistons star Malik Beasley is reportedly the subject of a new gambling investigation regarding NBA game bets. News broke on Sunday, June 29, that the U.S. district attorney's office was looking into Beasley, 28, on allegations of gambling. ESPN, who broke the news, reported that prominent betting sites detected unusually heavy interest in Beasley's statistics in 2024. Advertisement Beasley's lawyer swiftly addressed the accusations, asserting that the guard has not yet been charged with a crime. 'An investigation is not a charge,' Beasley's attorney, Steve Haney, told ESPN in a statement. 'Malik is afforded the same right of the presumption of innocence as anyone else under the U.S. Constitution. As of now, he has not been charged with anything.' Detroit Pistons Star Malik Beasley's Wife Montana Yao Files for Separation Before 5th Anniversary Us Weekly has reached out for comment. The pro athlete served his sentence after the 2020-2021 NBA season, later receiving a 12-game suspension from the league. That same year, Beasley's then-wife, Montana Yao, filed for divorce after he was rumored to be dating Real Housewives of Miami star Larsa Pippen. Two dead, likely firefighters, after 'ambush-style' shooting east of Coeur d'Alene

Jun. 29—At least two people are dead after someone shot at firefighters in an "ambush-style" attack in Kootenai County Sunday afternoon, officials said. "Gut-wrenching news coming from Coeur d'Alene," Rep. Mike Simpson posted on X. "As the situation develops, our thoughts and prayers are with the brave firefighters and all first responders on the scene." Fire crews from Kootenai County Fire and Rescue and Coeur d'Alene Fire Department were responding to a small wildland fire around 1:20 p.m. on Canfield Mountain, east of Coeur d'Alene. Around 2 p.m., a suspect with "modern-day sporting" weapons began shooting at them, Kootenai County Sheriff Bob Norris said during a press conference Sunday. Pat Riley, Northern Lakes fire chief, said it quickly turned into an "ambush-style active shooter," and one of his personnel had to be pulled out and taken to the nearest fire station. The two people confirmed killed in the ambush were likely firefighters, Norris said. Other casualties were reported, but Norris said it's unclear how many. It's also unclear if there is one suspect or multiple, he said. When firefighters reported the shots, they said they felt them coming from different directions. Ricky Walsh, vice president of the International Assocation of Fire Fighters District 7, posted on Instagram Sunday evening that "members of our fire service family have been involved in an active and ongoing incident." The post said no additional details would be released "during this incredibly difficult time." Civilians and hikers are still stuck on Canfield Mountain waiting to be evacuated "or in shock," Norris said. "This is going to be, likely, a multi-day operation." At the 4:30 p.m. news conference, Norris said deputies were "actively taking sniper fire as we speak" and expressed hope that the shooter or shooters would be "neutralized." "They are not, at this point in time, showing any evidence of wanting to surrender," he said. "We will neutralize this threat." A "heartbroken" Idaho Gov. Brad Little also posted on Facebook about the "heinous direct assault on our brave firefighters." "Multiple heroic firefighters were attacked today while responding to a fire in North Idaho. This is a heinous direct assault on our brave firefighters," the statement reads. "I ask all Idahoans to pray for them and their families as we wait to learn more." A Life Flight Network helicopter is waiting in the area, where members of the public are gathered along 15th Street to watch. Around 5:20 p.m., federal law enforcement helicopters from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection flew into the command post near Canfield Mountain at Cherry Hill Dog Park. Spokane County Sheriff John Nowels said Spokane County is sending air resources and support for the "active shooting incident." Norris said federal law enforcement was also assisting. The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office has issued an alert to residents to avoid the area, which law enforcement cordoned off. A shelter in place order is issued for the surrounding areas of Coeur d'Alene. "Every day, firefighters and EMS personnel put themselves in harm's way for the communities they serve. Moments like this are a painful reminder of the risks they face in the line of duty and the strength of the fire service family when tragedy strikes," the Washington State Council of Fire Fighters posted on Instagram. AT&T's $177 Million Settlement Will Pay Victims of Two Huge Data Breaches. Learn Who Qualifies

Of the 1,350,835,988 notices sent to subjects of data breaches in 2024, almost a tenth of those came from a hack of AT&T servers in April, according to to the Identity Theft Resource Center's 2024 Annual Data Breach Report. The telecom giant now plans to settle a lawsuit for that breach and another in 2019 for a whopping $177 million. On Friday, June 20, US District Judge Ada Brown granted preliminary approval to the terms of a proposed settlement from AT&T that would resolve two lawsuits related to the data breaches. The current settlement would see AT&T pay $177 million to customers adversely affected by at least one of the two data breaches. The settlement will prioritize larger payments to customers who suffered damages that are "fairly traceable" to the data leaks. It will also provide bigger payments to those impacted by the larger of the two leaks, which began in 2019. While the company is working toward a settlement, it has continued to deny that it was "responsible for these criminal acts." For all the details we have about the settlement right now, keep reading, and for more info about other recent settlements, find out how to claim Apple's Siri privacy settlement and see if you're eligible for 23andMe's privacy breach settlement. AT&T confirmed the two data breaches last year, announcing an investigation into the first in March before confirming it in May and confirming the second in July. The first of the confirmed breaches began in 2019. The company revealed that about 7.6 million current and 65.4 million former account holders had their data exposed to hackers, including names, Social Security numbers and dates of birth. The company first began investigating the situation last year after it reported that customer data had appeared on the dark web. The second breach began in April of 2024, when a hacker broke into AT&T cloud storage provider Snowflake and accessed 2022 call and text records for almost all of the company's US customers, about 109 million in all. The company stressed that no names were attached to the stolen data. Two individuals were arrested in connection with the breach. Both of these incidents sparked a wave of class action lawsuits alleging corporate neglect on the part of AT&T in failing to sufficiently protect its customers. As of now, we know that the settlement will pay out to any current or former AT&T customer whose data was accessed in one of these data breaches, with higher payments reserved for those who can provide documented proof that they suffered damages directly resulting from their data being stolen. If you're eligible, you should receive a notice about it, either by email or a physical letter in the mail, sometime in the coming months. The company expects that the claims process will begin on Aug. 4, 2025. You'll have to "reasonably" prove damages caused by these data breaches to be eligible for the highest and most prioritized payouts. For the 2019 breach, those claimants can receive up to $5,000. For the Snowflake breach, the max payout will be $2,500. It's not clear at this time how the company might be handling customers who've been affected by both breaches. AT&T will focus on making those payments first, and whatever's left of the $177 million settlement total will be disbursed to anyone whose data was accessed, even without proof of damages. Because these payouts depend on how many people get the higher amounts first, we can't say definitively how much they will be. AT&T expects that payments will start to go out sometime in early 2026. Exact dates aren't available right now. The recent court order approving the settlement lists a notification schedule of Aug. 4 to Oct. 17, 2025. The deadline for submitting a claim is currently set at Nov. 18, 2025. The final approval of the settlement needs to be given at a Dec. 3, 2025, court hearing in order for payments to begin.
