Mowilex models environmental leadership with new Cikande factory solar panels: for every 4 liters of Mowilex paint, 1 is now powered by the sun

Key news highlights:
With new solar panels at its Cikande factory, Mowilex has expanded its commitment to renewable energy, efficiency and the environment.
The installation will lower the company's carbon footprint and cut grid electricity use by up to 25% per year.
Mowilex earned its sixth consecutive CarbonNeutral® company certification in late 2024, and further supports Indonesia's clean energy goals with this solar project.
JAKARTA, Indonesia, July 4, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — With the installation of solar panels at its Cikande factory, PT Mowilex Indonesia (Mowilex) is expanding its long-standing commitment to clean, renewable energy. Mowilex was Indonesia's first paint company to make major solar investments, demonstrating environmental leadership by first installing panels at its corporate headquarters in 2022.
Over 500 solar modules now cover the roof of the main Cikande factory building. Another 252 solar modules were installed on car and motorcycle parking canopies. The system will reduce grid electricity use at the company's Cikande factory by approximately 500 kilowatt-hours (kWh) annually – and that means 1 of every 4 liters produced will be made with renewable energy.
With the Cikande solar panels, Mowilex will lower its operational carbon footprint and cut non-renewable energy use by up to 25% per year. The company's new renewable energy project advances Indonesia's clean energy goals and comes just months after Mowilex earned its sixth consecutive CarbonNeutral® company certification.
'We believe in taking real action to decarbonize. This solar installation at our Cikande factory goes beyond buying offsets, and it's more than a technological upgrade. It is a reflection of our core values. As a company rooted in environmental responsibility, this initiative brings us one step closer to a cleaner future for Indonesia,' says Niko Safavi, CEO of PT Mowilex Indonesia.
Through its investment in solar projects, Mowilex is actively reducing its dependence on brown energy. In contrast to brown energy, derived from fossil fuels and associated with high emissions and environmental harm, green energy represents a cleaner, renewable alternative. This strategic transition enables Mowilex to adopt a more stable, self-sufficient and environmentally responsible energy solution.
The expanded use of solar also aligns with the environmental and ethical expectations of Indonesian consumers. Climate change worries 87% of Indonesians, says the global communications firm Edelman, and more than 90% of Indonesians think businesses don't do enough engagement around climate change issues. Another 90% expect CEOs to take a public stance on climate change.
Mowilex embraces the opportunity to educate and deliver solutions to climate challenges through its products and practices.
'We see consumers shifting their purchasing power toward brands that actively work to mitigate climate change. Mowilex is proud to meet those market expectations,' says Safavi. 'Solar is a reliable, independent power source that contributes to our energy security and supports Indonesia's renewable energy policies. By making this long-term investment, we hope to be a model for industry and for the greater public.'

Ringgit likely to trade range-bound ahead of Bank Negara's MPC meeting next week

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit is expected to trade range-bound against the greenback next week, as investors adopt a cautious approach ahead of Bank Negara Malaysia's (BNM) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting on July 9. Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd chief economist Dr Mohd Afzanizam Abdul Rashid said the local note is likely to stay steady, with market participants focusing on the central bank's upcoming decision. "The outcome of the meeting could shape the ringgit's near-term trajectory. We are calling for a 25 basis-point cut in the overnight policy rate (OPR), as the need for monetary support has grown given the increasingly challenging macroeconomic outlook for the second half of 2025,' he told Bernama. Mohd Afzanizam said subdued global demand, ongoing geopolitical tensions and signs of moderating domestic activity may lead the central bank to adopt a more accommodative stance. "In the absence of major external shocks, the ringgit is expected to trade within a narrow band of RM4.22 to RM4.23 against the greenback throughout the week,' he added. The ringgit ended the week higher against the greenback, closing at 4.2180/2260 from 4.2300/2355 last Friday. The local note traded mostly higher against a basket of major currencies. The ringgit appreciated vis-a-vis the Japanese yen to 2.9225/9282 from 2.9359/9399, and increased against the British pound to 5.7601/7710 from 5.8141/8217. However, it fell versus the euro to 4.9675/9770 from 4.9597/9661 at the end of last week. The ringgit also traded mostly higher against ASEAN currencies. The local note improved against the Singapore dollar to 3.3114/3182 from 3.3192/3240, enhanced versus the Indonesian rupiah to 260.6/261.2 from 260.9/261.4, while it weakened versus the Thai baht to 13.0302/0609 from 13.0254/0488, previously. It was unchanged against the Philippine peso at 7.47/7.49. - Bernama

Enhancing Capacity and Logistics Flow, Minister Al-Jasser Lays Foundation Stone for Logistics Corridor Linking Jeddah Islamic Port and Al-Khumrah Logistics Park

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, July 4, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — In a strategic move to strengthen Saudi Arabia's logistics infrastructure, His Excellency Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and Chairman of the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), laid the foundation stone for a new logistics corridor connecting Jeddah Islamic Port to Al-Khumrah Logistics Park. The ceremony was attended by Mawani President Eng. Suliman Almazroua, alongside senior officials and leaders from across the transport and logistics ecosystem. Developed and implemented by Mawani, the corridor project is valued at over $183.7 million and spans 17 kilometerswith two lanes in each direction. It features 12 overpasses, emergency access points, maintenance facilities, and a comprehensive rainwater drainage system, providing uninterrupted truck movement between the port and the logistics park while bypassing Jeddah's urban road network. Minister Al-Jasser emphasized that the dedicated corridor will increase Jeddah Islamic Port's handling capacity by 10%, streamline truck flows, and enhance road safety by separating heavy truck traffic from general urban traffic. The project is also expected to reduce congestion, noise, and visual pollution, while contributing to lower carbon emissions and a better urban living environment. 'This initiative is a key milestone under the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, reinforcing the Kingdom's ambition to become a global logistics hub connecting three continents,' said Al-Jasser. The corridor strengthens multimodal integration and supply chain efficiency, while enhancing trade facilitation and the operational performance of Jeddah Islamic Port. It also unlocks new investment opportunities in the region and creates added value for transporters, importers, exporters, shipping lines, and logistics park users. Jeddah Islamic Port is a major gateway on the Red Sea coast, covering 12.5 square kilometers with 62 multi-purpose berths, state-of-the-art terminals, and specialized facilities that support regional and international trade. This project represents another significant step in advancing Saudi Arabia's logistics sector and achieving Vision 2030's economic diversification and connectivity goals. Photo – –
