Rs1,000 stamp duty forSmart City-hit homes
The meeting was chaired by CM Devendra Fadnavis. As per the decision, only Rs1,000 stamp duty will be levied for the registration of lease deeds for 28 houses allocated in Mouza Punapur to families displaced by the Smart City project. Earlier, the stamp duty for these registrations was estimated to be around Rs40,000 to Rs45,000, which posed a major financial burden for the low-income beneficiaries. The beneficiaries were demanding a reduction, citing the precedent set under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), where a nominal Rs1,000 stamp duty was charged. Taking note of the demand, the state govt has now extended the same benefit to the 28 homes constructed for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) in Mouza Punapur. These houses were provided as rehabilitation to those whose original homes were acquired for Smart City infrastructure development in Nagpur. This move is expected to ease the financial strain on the affected families and expedite the registration process, enabling them to secure legal ownership of their new homes.
