Teen who wanted to carry out 'Doomsday' mass shooting at school to be sentenced
Felix Winter, now aged 18, repeatedly spoke about carrying out an attack at his secondary, referring to the day he would 'clear it out' as 'Doomsday'.
Jurors previously heard the teenager 'idolised' the killers behind the Columbine High School massacre in Colorado in the United States in 1999, which saw 12 students and a teacher gunned down.
A major police investigation began in the summer of 2023 after a photo circulated on social media showing Winter at school in full combat gear, carrying an imitation gun, which caused panic among pupils and parents.
He had already been referred to a UK-wide anti-terrorism programme aimed at preventing radicalisation.
He also held racist and pro-Nazi views.
Winter pleaded guilty to a breach of the peace and a charge under the Terrorism Act. His offending took place between June 2022 and July 2023.
Defence KC Shelach McCall told the court in March that a professor who assessed her client found a 'serious link' between his autism and his behaviour, arguing it was his condition – rather than extremism – that drove his obsession with school shootings.
Ms McCall said Winter had made a 'marked improvement' since his offending.
She said: 'He has expressed regret and recognises that he didn't previously appreciate how his behaviour was impacting on others.
'He accepts in the context of his plea of guilty and his remarks about school shootings in 2022, him dressing in that costume and carrying that in a school would generate alarm to those who came upon it but this was not his intent.'
Winter will appear at the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday, July 30.

Young boy sexually assaulted while camping with his family
An eight-year-old boy has been sexually assaulted in his tent while camping with his family in the Highlands. Police said a man approached the child between midnight and 01:00 in the early hours of Thursday at the Loch Ness Bay campsite in Drumnadrochit. Arrests after drugs seized from inflatable speedboat
Four men have been arrested after several hundred kilos of drugs were seized from a UK nationals, an Albanian and a Greek national were arrested in the early hours of Thursday morning in Watchet, west Somerset, the National Crime Agency (NCA) are believed to have used a high-powered rigid inflatable speedboat to collect drugs from a cargo vessel off the coast, the NCA said, and the seized packages are believed to contain four men are in custody and NCA officers are now investigating any potential links with cargo vessels in the area at the time of the incident. Gavin Webb, NCA regional head of investigations said: "This is a fast-moving, intelligence led investigation by the NCA, with the support of partners including Border Force, the South West Regional Organised Crime Unit, Avon and Somerset Police and Devon and Cornwall Police."The NCA is confronting and dealing with at-sea drugs drop-offs as a priority, focusing on protecting the public, and ensuring illegal drugs do not make it to UK shores."Our investigation is ongoing and those arrested remain in custody."

Man guilty of throwing petrol bomb at police outside Boston Aldi
A man who threw a petrol bomb at police before pointing an imitation firearm towards them has been found guilty of attempting to cause an explosion with intent to endanger Wiatrowski, 36, used a hammer to smash the windows of an Aldi store in Boston, Lincolnshire, on New Year's Day, before confronting officers who arrived to arrest of Bradford Road, Boston, previously admitted possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, affray and criminal damage at a hearing in was convicted by a jury at Lincoln Crown Court on Wednesday following a three-day trial and is due to be sentenced on 2 October. According to police, Wiatrowski had no apparent motive for his actions, but told officers he was bored with life and wanted to make a Molotov cocktail – a type of petrol found CCTV footage of him attempting to fill a drinking bottle with petrol as part of his questioned about why he had thrown the petrol bomb and pointed the gun, he said he wanted to scare the officers, "to think they were going to die".He also told police he had no intention of entering the store, on Queen Street, after smashing the Insp Melissa Rooke said: "This was a calculated and entirely senseless act, carried out with blatant disregard for the impact it would have."It's no surprise that those who responded to this incident were profoundly affected by what they encountered. Our officers faced an individual whose clear objective was to instil fear and potentially inflict serious harm."
